Transition Instructions

Some pets may have sensitive stomachs and could potentially experience digestive upset from a sudden diet change. Because of this, we recommend making a gradual transition between foods. Begin with 25% of the recommended daily portion of the new food mixed with 75% of the recommended daily portion of the previous diet. Feed this blend for 2-3 days and then change the mix to 50% of each for 2-3 days. Then feed 75% of the recommended daily portion of the new food with 25% of the recommended daily portion of the previous diet for a final 2-3 days before fully switching.

Cats can be funny about diet changes. Watch closely to be sure that your cat is eating during the transition. We recommend that you put two bowls of food out - one for the new food and one for the old - so that you can closely monitor how much of each is being consumed.

  • For sensitive cats, extend the period to 10 to 14 days.

    Chubby kitties love it!

    By on

Our kitties have been on Diamond maintenance for a while and were doing well until we moved to a smaller place and they started getting less exercise. I tried cutting their food back, but it didn't seem to help and they were always hungry. With the Weight Management formula they are losing weight and not begging between meals. Would definitely recommend if you have a chunky monkey that needs to slim down!

Cat likes it and kibble doesn't crumble like other low calorie foods!

    By on Top 1000 Contributor

My adult cat was already on a lower calorie food but still gaining weight so I'm trying this one because the ingredients are reasonable while being even lower in calories. It is still too early to tell the difference it will make with her weight as I'm still mixing it in with her previous food but she does eat it just as readily as her other food.

    Cats wouldn’t touch it

    By on

My two cats will eat just about anything you put in front of them. I saw all the reviews about the quality of this food but they wouldn’t touch the stuff.

    My 8 cats approve!

    By on

My cats range in age from 2 to 17 years old and they all enjoy Diamond Care Weight Management Formula. My cats get wet food twice a day and then dry food gets put out when I leave for work and when I go to bed. I'm noticing a decrease in the frequency of vomiting up the dry food after consumption so that makes me happy. I won't know about any weight loss success until my cats have been on it for a couple of months.

great taste and cat loves it

    By on

It’s my first time writing a review but I just had too with this. My cat was almost 22 lbs and I’ve always feed her good food and a proper amount. The vet said she’s a bigger girl and 17lbs would be a nice weight for her. I got the vet RX cat food that sent my cat back to vet with diarrhea, refusing to eat and drink. I gave up on the spendy RX cat food and found this. I haven’t had any health issues with my cat, she devours her food and as of last week, she’s done to 17.8lbs. We’ve been on this food for almost 2 years now. We’re both very pleased.

    Decent Food

Seems like an okay recipe. A tad more taurine might be good in a high fiber diet, but our guys get a little extra with paté dinnertime. It's a bit spendier, vs. Diamond Naturals, for a formula with 32% protein & somewhat rich in plant matter (despite the first few ingredients, by pre-processing weight, being meat). But that's not too surprising for a food labeled "weight management" and "grain free". At least legumes like lentils tend to be lower glycemic carb sources, so along with the reduced fat it's likely better for the Portly One than Diamond Indoor. I'd still love to see a lean meaty formula with ~40% protein, along with the lower fat and higher fiber, but this one should be a good part Seems like an okay recipe. Cat won't touch it

I ordered this because Chewy didn't have the Nutro my cat normally eats. I mixed it with the Nutro I had left to introduce it. He wouldn't eat. I happened to find some Nutro somewhere else and went back to it.

Coats look best on this weight management!

    By on

I recently purchased a few different cat foods all at or under 300 calories a cup to help my three girls get down to a healthier weight. The Diamond Weight Management seems to be the best fit for them so far. On the grain-inclusive formulas, I notice that their coats become flaky. Not so on this Diamond formula. They are satisfied in between meals and do not beg for food after eating their appropriate portions. And they seem to really enjoy the taste! We are going to continue with this formula and hope we will see long term results.
