how easy is this to clean

Maintenance is simple as the bowls are dishwasher safe and the replacement cartridge easily slides into position. Only use Dog Mate/Cat Mate branded filter cartridges to prolong the life of your pump. The pump should also be disassembled (no tools required) and cleaned every few weeks (or more frequently in hard water areas) to prevent lime scale build-up. Full easy to follow instructions on how to do this are included with the fountain.

Can you pour the water directly into the Fountain - or do you have to remove a part and bring that part to the sink in order to fill the Fountain?

Large pet fountain.

I use this for 2 cats and a medium size dog. The cats like to drink from the top and the dog uses the bottom. I have to refill only once daily. I love this fountain

very easy to assemble

easy to assemble, I wish it had more of a stronger stream like other brands I have had (my dog liked to drink from the stream) but that isnt really a design flaw

Cleaning

So far love the water fountain only thing that has been a learning curve is rememberimg to clean the pump itself. Make sure u are doing that every time you change

More if u have hard water. And I mean taking it all apart and soaking in water/vinegar to get lime scale off. Other then that so far have really loved the fountain.

You have to clean it out everyday. It takes about 20 minutes to clean Lots of crevives to clean. The filter tube has to be cleaned with a straw cleaner. The filter

The filter last about a week before starts smelling like a dirty pond. It's more trouble than it's worth. I went back to just a regular dog bowl. I can wash a bowl out in a matter of seconds and not worry about it.

Not worth it

First one came, pump didn’t work and filter was already used. Replacement came and the pump doesn’t even have enough power to circulate the water. The water is nasty

The water is nasty because the pump doesn’t have enough power to circulate the water. I set it up yesterday and already I have changed the filter. I’ve been buying petmate for years. This setup and pump is totally unlike the quality products that petmate is known for. I’m very disappointed.
