Description

Dr. Elsey's Precious Cat Ultra Clumping Cat Litter is a unique formulation that combines the heavy non-tracking granules of Precious Cat Classic with a medium grain clay. The result is an excellent clumping litter that prevents moisture from reaching the bottom of the tray, while providing a clump that will not break down. Ultra is perfect for multi-cat families and those cat owners with sifting or mechanical litter boxes. Like Classic, it has superior odor control.

Key Benefits

  • 99.9% dust free, hypo-allergenic natural litter
  • Contains no plant proteins
  • Hard clumping, medium grain clay
  • Multi-cat formula, superior odor control
  • Ideal for sifting/mechanical litter boxes

Additional Details

Always wash your hands thoroughly after waste removal. A parasite sometimes found in cat feces can cause toxoplasmosis. Please do not flush cat litter in toilets or dispose of it outdoors in gutters or storm drains.

Special Note

Some products are changing from bags to boxes. You may receive either packaging until the transition is complete, but rest assured that you are receiving the same great litter!

We have 5 extra large litter pans for our 10+ kitties. Wish the litter wasn't quite so heavy (we are getting older) but we love our cats and love Dr. Elsey's litter. • Great litter and a suggestion to help with the sticking to the bottom of the pan

    By on

I saw this in a review somewhere and I now do it. I have a cat that has to dig to China so ends up no litter where he is going. Someone said to spray bottom and sides of pan with a product like PAM but can get generic versions that are cheaper - let it dry and then put the litter in the pan. It really helps. Someone mentioned problems with allergies and I have lots of allergies and Asthma and I don't notice any problems. I get the 40 lb bags because better deal but at 73 they are very heavy - I roll them down my many cement basement steps and have never had a bag break and also have never received one shipped to me that was broken - perhaps it is the shipper somehow causing it???? • A consistently effective cat litter that kitty likes

    By on

First, foremost, and most important, my four house cats all like it and use it without fail (and have for several years now since I switched over to this brand). Everything else is secondary. It clumps tightly and scoops out cleanly. I recommend you keep at least 2" of litter (or more) in the pan to help prevent a kitty from digging a hole where urine might pool and tend to stick to the bottom of the pan . It's about as dust free as I've encountered in similar products. Seems to have a pretty effective natural odor control on its own but I usually also preemptively spritz a few sprays of odorless enzymatic urine cleaner over the top after every scoop out to guarantee no telltale cat box First, foremost, and most important, my four house cats all like it and use it without fail (and have for several years now since I switched over to this brand). • Excellent product!

This is a great litter...PERIOD. I love the fact that it is non-scented so that it is not irritating my cat's respiratory system. With one cat, I find cleaning the box at LEAST twice per day is the only way to go. Scented litter and special sprays are not for your cat, they are for YOU. With that being said, the more cats you have, the more you need to scoop. With one cat, I clean the box at least TWICE, every SINGLE DAY. If I had more cats, I would have more litter boxes. I have no issues with tracking because I use a mat and the litter box is in a room with tile floor. Tracking caused by "Serial Digging" can be resolved by using a large tote instead of a standard litter box, since This is a great litter...PERIOD. I keep a small brush/dust pan set thumbtacked to the wall, so I can get the few granules that I might see. I have nearly had an issue with sticking on the bottom of the litter box, but that was only because I did not use the recommended 3-4 inches of litter. My husband is an ACUTE ASTHMATIC, and we both are allergic to many things but have never had an issue with dust from this litter (i.e. regularly changing heating/cooling system filters, humidifiers, regular vacuum/dusting/steam mopping). This litter is great. We buy the 40lb bags when it is on sale. The weight of the bag is irrelevant to the quality of the product. In any case, we keep one bag in a closet near the room the litter box is in and the extras, in the garage. … more

  • My cats love this

    By on

I was looking for a cheaper litter and tried Dr. Elsey's based on the reviews. My cats have two litter boxes, so I cleaned one litter box, replaced the litter (World's Best, unscented) that I have used for years. Went downstairs to empty the trash and by the time I returned, cat number one had already used the box. Twenty minutes later cat number two used it. Then they ignored the clean litter box with the old, familiar litter. Point taken. A week later I replaced the litter in the second litter box. The clumps are really hard, and it seems less dusty than the old litter. Happy cats, happy cat mom. Plus it's cheaper, which makes me even more happy.

  • Cats love it, our lungs hate it

    By on

This litter is fantastic -- it tracks less, clumps really hard, and I tested is against the Worlds Best cat litter we've been using forever - cats love it and ignore the other box. And it's so much cheaper! However our lungs hate it. It didn't really start affecting us until about 2 months in (of course after a bought a BUNCH of bags that I now need to give away). I have asthma and my husband and I have allergies. The very, very, VERY fine dust that permeates the house is triggering everything now. So we have to go back Worlds Best. I'm bummed, and writing this just in case someone else might have the same issue, because it didn't bother us right away. It took a little time. • Great Clumping Litter, Less Dusty Than Many Cat Litters, Unscented.

    By on

Pros: Unscented (scented litters make my cats sneeze and cough), great clumping litter, good price when on sale, less dusty than many cat litters. Cons: Not 100% dust-free but less dusty than many cat litters, some tracking (a tracking mat is helpful), a bit awkward to carry the 40 pound bag (packing it in a box would be easier). For Odors: Plug-ins for pets are helpful or scented dryer sheets (put them in an enclosed trash can or wherever cat poop is deposited; this will help mask the smell). *I do NOT recommend sprinkling your litter boxes with Baking Soda or anything scented. Do NOT use room sprays. That will irritate your cat's eyes and respiratory system and get on his/her fur. The best thing about this litter is that it is nearly dust free. I actually found a different litter that I preferred but my 20 lb cat was in disagreement and began going outside of the box. He is crippled from being hit by a car and he only urinates once per day. This caused a problem with many other litters as his urine would not absorb quick enough, so it would pool behind him and get his hind end wet. I think this is why he didn’t like the other litter. This litter allows the urine to absorb quickly and it does run through all the way to the bottom. This makes cleaning a bigger chore as it will stick to the bottom even when I have a solid three to four inches deep. I found this litter on Chewy when searching for a low-dust litter and this lives up to that claim. I see virtually no dust. When the litter is deep the clumping is excellent. However, if the litter is shallow or you have a "digger," this clings to the bottom of the box like cement! I do also find that there are a lot of little dirty pieces that fall through my scoop, I haven't had this problem with other clumping litter and have a great metal scoop (I'll be looking for second scoop with smaller holes as a supliment.) As others have mentioned, what really has to be addressed are the bags breaking in shipping. Chewy CS explained that there can be expansion of clay litter in shipping and of course I found this litter on Chewy when searching for a low-dust litter and this lives up to that claim. • Have Purchased for Second Time Now

    By on

Have had 3 cats for 12 years now. The clay litters being tracked all over my small apartment drives me batty. I've tried the crystal stuff and I didn't buy that again. So after reading reviews about less dust and tracking, I am glad I purchased it and am ordering it again. Yes, definitely a lot less dust and definitely a lot less tracking around the apartment. I wish I could sift the used from unused with the scooper but the new stuff slips right through with some used so it's not perfect but it is an improvement. I tip the litter box to one side and then the other which helps roll and cover the semi solids my girls were not trained to cover by their kitten mother.
