It has a powerful fragrance when you first sprinkle it that takes about 30 minutes to fade, and it seems to work ok for a day or so, but I have used regular baking soda in the past with the same result minus the strong fragrance. All in all, I can understand someone wanting this, which is why I gave 4 stars and would recommend, but for me the fragrance is too strong and it doesn't last long enough on a big litter box with 2 cats using it. I did follow directions, and I can't tell where adding it when putting fresh new litter to start made any different than just having fresh litter. But after a week, adding it only reduces odors for like a day.
Cats do not like strong smells. When I sprinkled it on the litter, the scent was overpowering. I can only sprinkle small amounts at a time. The smell is too overpowering. I may go back to using their baking soda , which works just as well, without all that unwanted fragrance.
This deodorizer works great. Although, we only have one cat in the house, we do have two litter boxes; one in the half bath downstairs, and the other in the master bathroom upstairs. Our cat Socrates is very picky and he definitely likes a clean fresh litter box. Just sprinkling a little each time you scoop out the box keeps the bathroom smelling fresh, and our cat happy!
I used this years ago and loved how effective it was. So when I saw it recently I knew I really needed it with 4 grown cats in the house adn odor can take over very quickly. I use it when I change the cat litter, just a light sprinkle and then later in the day I give another sprinkle to help contain the odor. I use only one litter box (don't judge), I tried using more boxes but my cats insisted on using only the one (I guess the family that poops together stays together, not sure) so it can get smelly quickly, its a big litter box so it is changed daily and no it doesn't over flow. This deodorizer really does keep my house smelling good. I don't think its to strong, My cats don't either, my little Shuga usually jumps in the box as soon as I'm done to claim it again and she has never had a problem. So thank you for this GREAT product, it keeps my house un-smelly and my fur babies like it too.
I have bought this product many times from another large retail store. I have never been as pleased with the way it has been shipped to me as I was when I ordered if from here. Each box was individually wrapped with plastic so that it would not open and spill everywhere, and it was neatly stacked in the box. I was very pleased and I was very pleased with the price. The other box store charged double to ship and would only allow 5 to be bought. I will order from chewy from now on.
The baking soda works but I checked the image online and the heading and the description The product I got was linen scented and very strong exactly like laundry detergent. I was not sure if this was a mistake but if you do not want anything scented this will be a pass.
This product is no less than fantastic in controlling kitty litter box odors. It not only works instantly, but continues to do its magic until the next application. I use it daily -- but it takes so little to do so much.
I have a very old male cat, he is 16 and he has some stinky poos. His pee reeks of ammonia and it can be so strong most of the time it will burn your nose. This deodorizer really helps. I either use it so I can tolerate cleaning the litter since the odor is too strong with out it or to freshen up the litter after its been cleaned. Best litter accessory hands down.
I JUST started using this and I could kick myself for not doing it sooner! No more chunky-smashes in the litter box corners! I just sprinkle said deo in all of the litter box CORNERS, I pick the pan up and give it a slight shuffle-shake, pour the litter (good quality litter, mind you), give the littler a swish with my (gloved) hand and go on with my other poofie duties. I might also add that using this litter really has cuts down on the time it takes to complete litter duty. I own and/or foster 13 poofies, so scoopin can take a month of Sundays to finish. But using this double duty litter deodorizer has cut time from 45 minutes to 15 minutes! AND the added bonus of the litter (remember, the good quality litter!) last way longer. Where I had to sanitize pans every other day, now I only have to change litter (remember, the GOOD quality litter, meow!) once a week. I choose to do that on Sundays.
We changed to this deodorizer and my cat is doing very good with it. No allergy and it does seems to control odor a lot better. It also smells very good. It keeps odors away for longer time .
