Your cat will do this naturally as she uses her litter. * Allow your cat to use the mixed litter until the next time you change the box. * Your cat should be acclimated to Arm & Hammer after just one use, but some cats can need a little more time.
Where should the product be stored?
Store in a dry place if clumping cat litter comes in contact with water, clumps will form. But it will not be affected by humidity.
Can I use this in animal cages or in litter boxes for pets other than cats?
No, it is not recommended.
Is ARM & HAMMER™ Cat Litter antibacterial?
No. The litter box is a dirty place. Each time your cat uses the litter box, feces and urine introduce odor-causing bacteria. Although the product is not antibacterial, ARM & HAMMER™ Cat Litter utilizes genuine ARM & HAMMER™ Baking Soda to eliminate odors caused by bacteria.
Is the carton recyclable?
Yes, The package is made from 100% recycled materials with 35% from post consumer sources. It is recyclable in areas that accept this type of carton. Please check with your local recycling center for details.
Does the product contain animal by-products?
No.
Does ARM & HAMMER™ Cat Litter contain Baking Soda?
Yes, all ARM & HAMMER™ Cat Litters contain pure ARM & HAMMER™ Baking Soda.
Should I use ARM & HAMMER™ Cat Litter Deodorizer in conjunction with ARM & HAMMER™ Clumping Cat Litter?
It is not necessary to use ARM & HAMMER™ Cat Litter Deodorizer with ARM & HAMMER™ Cat Litter but using both will give you an extra boost of freshness.
Why is ARM & HAMMER™ Cat Litter Deodorizer still needed?
ARM & HAMMER™ Cat Litter Deodorizer is designed to eliminate litter box odors that ordinary scoopable and clay litters can't. The powder formula also prevents the litter from sticking to the bottom of the box, making litter box clean up even easier.
Is ARM & HAMMER™ Cat Litter dust-free?
As the package indicates, all ARM & HAMMER™ Cat Litters are 99% dust-free.
Does ARM & HAMMER™ Cat Litter track?
As with any litter, it is possible some particles may scatter outside the box when the cat uses or leaves the box. However, unlike traditional clay litters, clumping litter should not get muddy in the litter box so your cat will not leave muddy footprints or tracks outside the litter box.
What is toxoplasmosis?
Toxoplasmosis is a condition caused by a parasite sometimes found in cat feces. Wash your hands thoroughly after handling used cat litter. Pregnant women and those with suppressed immune systems should be especially careful to always do so. Unused ARM & HAMMER™ Cat Litter in its original package does not contain these parasites.
What is the pH of ARM & HAMMER™ Cat Litter?
All ARM & HAMMER™ Cat Litters are slightly alkaline.
Is ARM & HAMMER™ Cat Litter safe for pets including kittens?
We are extremely confident of the safety of ARM & HAMMER™ Cat Litter, when used as directed. During its development, ARM & HAMMER™ clumping Cat Litter was evaluated by numerous consumers (and their cats) with no adverse effects. Additionally the safety of baking soda is well known and documented.
Can ARM & HAMMER™ Cat Litter cause Feline Urinary Syndrome (also known as a urinary tract blockage)?
Feline Urinary Syndrome (FUS) is a common condition that especially affects male cats. Although there are many theories on what causes or contributes to FUS, there is no indication that clumping (or traditional clay) cat litter causes FUS in cats or kittens.
What is the source of ARM & HAMMER™ Cat Litter ingredients?
The main ingredients in ARM & HAMMER™ Cat Litter are derived from mineral and plant sources.
Does ARM & HAMMER™ Cat Litter expire after a period of time? What is the shelf life?
ARM & HAMMER™ Cat Litter does not lose its effectiveness over time.
How long does a box or bag of ARM & HAMMER™ Cat Litter last?
The amount used varies depending on the frequency of litter box usage as well as the number of cats in your household.
How often should I change the Cat Litter in the litter box?
The frequency with which your cat uses the litter box and the number of cats that use the litter box will determine how often the litter box should be changed. Some consumers change their litter box on a regular schedule (every few days, or weekly, or on trash day, etc.), others change it when it looks wet or when odor is noticeable. Remember, as your cat uses the litter box, scoop out soiled clumps and solids. After you remove the odor clumps and solids, replace the discarded litter with a sprinkling of fresh litter, making sure to maintain at least 3-4 inches of litter in the box.
What if my cat eats the litter?
It is not normal for a cat to eat cat litter and it may be a sign of illness. Your veterinarian should be contacted immediately. (Please be assured that should a small amount be ingested during normal grooming, your cat's intestinal tract should naturally move the material through the cat's system.)
What if my dog eats the litter?
Although dogs sometimes eat cat litter and other foreign objects, you should remove the litter box from your dog's reach and contact your veterinarian immediately. Ingestion of litter and foreign objects may indicate illness.
What is Clumping Litter or Scoopable Litter? How does it differ from traditional Clay Litters?
Clumping or scoopable litters utilize the "clumping" properties of sodium bentonite, a naturally derived special type of clay, to control litter box odors. This special type of clay uses the moisture it absorbs to bond soiled litter particles into clumps for easy removal and disposal. Litter boxes using clumping litters can be cleaned by removing only the soiled litter and sprinkling a new layer of clumping litter in the box. The box is fresh for use without the unpleasant task of emptying, washing and drying! Ordinary clay litters can absorb moisture, but cannot isolate it for easy removal. Since soiled litter is a source of odor-causing bacteria, clay litter must be completely changed frequently to prevent odor build-up. This involves discarding the entire contents of the litter box, washing and drying the box, and replacing the litter-a messy and smelly task... Cats love a clean litter box and nothing is cleaner than fresh clumping litter. Cats think clumping litter is the best thing since catnip...we think you'll agree!
Can ARM & HAMMER™ Cat Litter be used for traction during icy conditions?
No. ARM & HAMMER™ Cat Litter, as well as other clumpable or scoopable litters, should not be utilized for ice traction.
How does ARM & HAMMER™ Double Duty Clumping Litter differ from other ARM & HAMMER™ Cat Litter?
ARM & HAMMER™ Double Duty is the only clumping litter with a formula that combines moisture activated ARM & HAMMER™ Baking Soda crystals with urine and feces odor neutralizers to destroy both overpowering odors on contact.
What are the ingredients in ARM & HAMMER™ Double Duty Clumping Litter?
ARM & HAMMER™ Double Duty contains clay for absorbency, clumping and deodorization. It also contains powerful compacted ARM & HAMMER™ Baking Soda crystals for deodorization, as well as a fresh scent fragrance that is activated when it comes in contact with moisture.
Is ARM & HAMMER™ Double Duty scented or unscented?
ARM & HAMMER™ Double Duty has a fresh scent that refreshes every time your cat uses the litter box.
Can ARM & HAMMER™ Double Duty Clumping Litter be used in multiple cat households?
Yes, ARM & HAMMER™ Double Duty’s powerful feces odor neutralizers are designed to work for multiple cats.
How should I dispose of the litter?
You should dispose of the used litter in the trash. Do not flush litter in the toilet or place it in the drain.

Litter Box Maintenance
For an odor-free home and happy kitties, follow these tips for good litter box management:
1. Fill with Arm & Hammer Cat Litter to a depth of 3-4 inches. This gives cats enough room to dig and makes scooping easier.
2. Scoop daily, making sure you get all the clumps and solid waste.
3. Refill the box to a nice 3-4 inch depth. Your feline and your elbows will thank you!
4. Throw away the used litter in the trash only. It protects waterways and your plumbing.
A Trifecta of Odor Control
Arm & Hammer Litter controls odor in three ways:
ODOR ELIMINATORS + BAKING SODA: Odor eliminators + Arm & Hammer Baking soda neutralize odors so they can’t waft through the house.
HARD CLUMPS: Litter forms rock-hard clumps that lock in odor and won’t crumble, so you can get all the waste out when you scoop.
MOISTURE LOCK: Super-absorbent clay granules lock in moisture, so urine odors can’t escape.

Scented or Unscented?
Whether you and your feline friend prefer a pleasant scent or fragrance-free odor control, Arm & Hammer has a formula for you. Choose between 5 odor-locking formulas and give your kitty the freshness he deserves!

A Tracking Nightmare
By HumaneShopper on Apr 8, 2021
This is another litter from Arm & Hammer that is ruined by it's vibrant, almost white color that is sticky enough to get tracked "miles" from the litter box. I'm trying to find a litter to replace A&H's original Lightweight Clump and Seal (peviously the world's best litter) by ordering (one by one) their other marketed litters. So far nothing has come close to what was an almost perfect litter which A&H discontinued and replaced with an inferior Xorb lightweight. A&H keeps "improving"-NOT (one by one) every litter they manufacture (and they have many) by focusing on oder and ignoring all other elements of a good litter. Every litter oder problem is easily solved by scooping every day--duh This is another litter from Arm & Hammer that is ruined by it's vibrant, almost white color that is sticky enough to get tracked "miles" from the litter box. Every litter oder problem is easily solved by scooping every day--duh!--rather than inundating the litter with baking powder! Original Lightweight Clump and Seal was a brown color that hardly tracked at all and was dark enough not to show what little it did. This Double Duty stuff is vibrant almost white and required me to vacumn daily! Unfortunately there is no way to determine what color a litter is unless you open the box and look. To do this, you have to buy the box. Therein lies the problem! … more

Every Box of Litter is DIFFERENT
By bphunter07 on Apr 5, 2021
I have been using this litter for years. Overall, I am happy with it. My cat does not bury which drives me nuts, but when items are covered, it DOES mask the odor very well. The reason why I don't like it, is I noticed the past few years, EVERY BOX is different. The littler consistency is NOT the same. One box, like the one i have now, the littler is more fine, smaller, and SUPER DUSTY. You LOOK at it, and it creates dust. Other boxes (which are my favorite to be honest), the little is darker, thicker, and NO JOKE, hardly any dust. I don't understand why every box is different. I am over it today, so after this box is up, I am looking for a new littler. Ridiculous.

Not buying this again
By JayM on Apr 6, 2021
I honestly didn’t know there could be a litter I would never buy again but this here has made the list! As I just scooped the box with new litter in and saw such a difference. This litter doesn’t clump it just sticks to the side of the box and you have to scrap it off. Very much like wet cement. And it doesn’t mask any smell better than other litters.

Good but very heavy!
By Bigbarry on Mar 14, 2021
We love Arm & Hammer Cat Litter but Chewy was out of our favorite “Lightweight & Dust free” which does a much better job. The cat litter we HAD to get because Chewy was out of, was Extremely heavy with a lot of dust. I mean, A LOT OF DUST!. We had to dust all the shelves because it was so bad. It does the job but not good as there is SO much dust & VERY HEAVY. Not our favorite, but we needed Cat litter and as Chewy was out, we settled on this brand, but NOT our favorite. Arm & Hammer need to make ALL its litter “Dust Free” & lighter

Does NOT clump!
By Erika on Mar 12, 2021
I honestly didn't really think there could be "bad" litter. But this product proved me wrong. Absolutely does NOT clump. Which means when you scoop up a urine spot it just crumbles away and blends in with the rest of the clean litter. Eventually after a week of this, I just toss the whole pan of litter because it starts smelling soo bad. The only solution I found is to mix this litter with better quality clumping litter. I'm so mad at myself for having this on auto order and getting a second box.. Never again. Would not recommend!!

Horrible Cat Litter
By basiba on Mar 18, 2021
The weight of the box is like a block of cement, delivery person litterally dumped it at the end of my driveway. It has a nasty fake perfume smell, nothing natural. Despite scooping multiple times a day it does not mask urine smells. Very messy, more like gravel. I should have just used it as gravel for my driveway instead of hurting myself trying to haul it up to the house. Going back to my usual but more expensive brand.

Arm and Hammer
By Beth on Mar 18, 2021
The product is good but the packaging is a nightmare. As a senior I have to ask for help to open and empty the box when needed. Much prefer lid and handle but no option. Also a year ago I purchased the A&H Fragrance Booster but the spray on the bottle doesn't work properly which is very frustrating. Have to press many times to obtain one spray. And it was quite expensive so I feel cheated!

Very, very strong scent
By Christy on Mar 15, 2021
I bought 2 large boxes of this because Chewy was sold out of the Arm & Hammer Clumping litter I usually buy. I can smell this litter from downstairs in my house. I’m embarrassed to have people over tomorrow because it’s such a strong smell. If you have any sensitivities to smell, I would not recommend this product. I hate how my house smells now. I unfortunately bought 2 of these.

Best litter there is. Hands down.
By RTHatchet on Feb 13, 2021
I work a lot. I don't have time to clean my litter box every day, and must admit there's been times I haven't cleaned it all week. This clumps so good (as does the black 28lbs box and multi cat) that when I clean it at the end of the week. I legit get out a single large several pound block (I have 2 litter boxes, fill each with half a box.. 20 lbs a piece, 14 each if it's the other litter) Literally leaves no lingering smell. Sure you're gonna smell your cat as they're pooping. But once they're done and it's buried, believe me you won't smell it several hours later.

Good but...
By Terri on Mar 23, 2021
This did work pretty well but I work very long hours, occasionally overnights & so if you do as well, this same brand (in the black box, bought here on Chewy) for multi cats works much better. No smell at all, even if you can’t get to it every 1-2 days.
