Finally! A Food He Could Eat!!

We had a terrible and expensive time with our GSD. He was terribly allergic to chicken, chicken parts, etc. I tried so many different TOP NAME foods and could not find any that he could tollerate. He was in misery. Finally, I saw this recommended on a breeder's sight and tried it. Finally. We had a food he could eat. Just started our most recent pup on same food and his coat looks so great and he often gets compliments.

Dogs LOVE it!

My dogs think they died and went to heaven. They Love this stuff. They haven't been eating it long enough for me to say what it is doing for them, but I think the results are going to be great.

Not good at all. The smell is really really bad

The smell is really really bad. I got this bag from the recommendation of one of the chewy wraps and it was horrible my puppy didn’t even eat it not even one kibble the smell is really really bad and it’s really really not good for her all the ingredients showed that it was grain free etc. but my puppy just would not eat it therefore it was just a bag wasted

Dogs' Favorite Food

We have used the Dr. Gary's Best Breed food for a few years now, ever since it was recommended to us by a trainer. Our first dog had issues with another food and it took us months to figure out that it was his food. Neither of our dogs have issues with this food, and they jump up and down when it's time to eat. Our favorite way to serve is to mix various flavors of Dr. Gary's Best Breed foods in a large container and add a bit of warm water to their food bowls during serving. It's a bit pricey, but we are happy with this food.

Your mileage my vary

This food sort of worked for our dog. After first adopting our pup he had major stomach issues and did not take well to our other dog's food brand. We did a trial run of Dr Gary's thinking that he might have some food allergies. It worked out; he was on Dr Gary's for about 3 months, and during that time his diarrhea stopped and his skin/coat got much better as well. After the first 3 months though we went to the vet after a sudden bout of diarrhea, and tummy issues aside (probably a parasite) she advised against a grain free diet due to the studies still being done out there. This isn't the main reason for the 3 stars though. We did end up switching his food to a different brand to include grain and also because he was not putting on weight, and there was a significant change in stool. Even though we fed him more of the new brand, his stools were much smaller and firmer than when he was on Dr Gary's (more like our other dog's, who has a very good gut). So I'm pretty sure that even though his body was processing the food, it wasn't absorbing well. Hopefully on the new food he'll gain more weight as well. I think the nutrients in this food are still good since his coat did clear up quite a bit (those issues were likely due to poor gut flora while he was a stray), but it wasn't the optimal food for our dog. And that is why I say, your mileage my vary!

So glad I tried this food

I normally cook for my dogs, but sometimes I need an alternative and I was looking for a high-quality kibble that has lots of meat, vegetables, and fruits. This food is perfect. I also like the slider zipper at the top of the bag - it keeps the food fresh and is easy to use. Even my senior picky dog loves this food. And there are plenty of protein choices for rotation. Great food!

Not my dogs favorite

My dogs will not eat this food. They apparently dislike the flavor.

a new favorite

My dog has been on Dr Gary's for more than 8 years. She's always loved the grain free salmon, but this new beef recipe is a big hit too. Perhaps she's just excited to have something new, but either way, it's a keeper!
