Premium All-Natural Pet Foods and Treats
Dr. Tim's offers honest, nutritionally sound kibble, wet foods, dietary supplements and freeze-dried treats designed for every life stage. The high-quality ingredients include low-ash protein along with the right blend of carbohydrates, fats and fibers to allow your pet to lead a healthy life.

Foods Made to Match Your Pet
When shopping for Dr. Tim's pet foods, you'll notice the labeling indicates an activity level. That's because they're made to complement your pet's lifestyle, with ideal ratios of protein, fat, carbohydrates and fibers to help her thrive. You'll find recipes that are specially formulated for active pets, low-key pets, extreme athletes and those in need of weight management.

ACTIVE: This food is designed for the sporting dog that's active more days than not—dogs who hunt or jog every day, herding dogs, police dogs and the like. It's made for maximum digestion, an important consideration for these dogs that's often overlooked. Protein types and levels, fat types and levels, and fiber sources are formulated to maximize performance and recovery.

CASUAL LIFESTYLE: This is a diet intended for the dog who lives a normal lifestyle—sleeping on the couch, running around the backyard or going on car rides, walks or hikes and basically just living the good life. The only regular exercise she might get is tail wagging when she sees you at the end of the day, or some loving nose nudges.

EXTREME ATHLETES: This food is for dogs who are serious about working nearly every day for long periods of time, such as sled dogs and dogs who hunt most days of the season. It's extremely high in fat, high in protein and low in carbs, with the highest levels of essential omega-3 fatty acids and loads of antioxidants. Performance, endurance and recovery are all enhanced.

WEIGHT MANAGEMENT: This diet is intended for the dog who has put on some extra weight. High protein allows your overweight dog to be more active, and moderate fat allows her to feel satiated so she doesn't beg—an essential part of the equation. The omega-3 and antioxidant profiles help reduce the inflammatory stress that's prevalent in an overweight dog, too.

Treats That Deliver
Dr. Tim's freeze-dried treats are formulated for both cats and dogs—perfect for multipet households. They're made from 100% real, USDA-inspected meats from Wisconsin. And since they're freeze-dried, you can give your pet all the nutrition and flavor of raw meat without any of the mess or inconvenience.
Top It Off With Nutrition
Dr. Tim's Flavor Booster is made of 100% real, USDA-inspected beef liver powder from Wisconsin that is freeze-dried to maintain more nutrients. It's perfect for use as a food topper to encourage pets to eat and enjoy their meals, which makes it a great choice for finicky dogs or those who are ill or tired of the same formula.

About Dr. Tim's
As a veterinarian and accomplished musher, Dr. Tim Hunt understood his dogs' need for a food that promotes stamina, endurance and performance through proper digestion. Armed with a cement mixer, a cache of ideas, and an aversion for other diets on the market, Dr. Tim took to his Michigan garage on a mission to formulate a food that replicated a natural, wild diet for his Alaskan Huskies. Today, Dr. Tim's focus has since expanded to bring an honest, nutritionally sound food—sourced only from North America's highest quality ingredients—to every dog.

Weight loss
By djvann on Feb 27, 2021
I have three large dogs who all need to lose a few pounds. Maybe more than a few. Bought the veterinarian diet dog food but it's too expensive. Bought the Dr. Tim's weight management dry dog food and they're all looking trimmer. To feed three dogs at almost $80 a bag for the vet dog food plus add in supplements that they get and it really adds up. I add some canned or homemade wet food to it and some hot water. They eat it right up. Weigh in day is just two days away and I'm really curious to see how they've done. My GSD was 86 pounds and the vet wants her at 80. She's looking quite trim right now! Heeler was up to 60 pounds and she needs to be 50 as she has arthritis. The lab is another story I have three large dogs who all need to lose a few pounds. Maybe more than a few. Sadly didn't work
By akiraa on Apr 8, 2021
I have a pug that is 40 lbs and I need him to drop 10 lbs. With daily walks, cut the treats, I havent seen a shift in his weight. Love the price and wish it worked, the vet wants to put him on the expensive stuff. Going back to the drawing board.

clean plate club
By Jennifer on Mar 1, 2021
My dog was not in major need of losing weight, but as he gets older (12 years old now) and less active, I was looking more to just make sure he maintains a healthy weight. We used to feed him another food which he did really like, but he tended to graze at it which made it really difficult to know how much food he was consuming on any given day. But he loves Dr. Tim's so much that he eats his entire portion daily and begs for his dinner!

Great solution for overweight dog
By akate on Mar 7, 2021
I have an Am Staff who needed to lose about 16 pounds; this product is low calorie so I thought I'd give it a shot. We're 7 weeks from starting this product and he's lost 9 pounds! I've been giving him 1.5 cups in the morning and 1 cup + can of unsalted green beans at night (plus we've cut back on treats). He licks the bowl clean, so he must like the food. I'd definitely recommend.

Dogs are not a fan
By SaraC on Mar 30, 2021
I have two dachshunds that are usually not picky at all and they would rather not eat than eat this food. One of them will literally lay and whine by the bowl instead of eating this. I will be trying something else.

Disappointed in lack of detail.
By Kate on Feb 4, 2021
My dog needs to go from 13 lbs to 11. She's part daschund and has the appetite of a blood hound, so calories mean a lot. She likes this food but then there's nothing she won't eat. I just wish the suggested servings were more specific for a small breed. The suggested serving starts at "up to 15 lbs". I would think a Dr would know there's a big difference between a 11 lb dog and a 15 lb one especially when you're counting every single calorie with a weight management food. I probably won't buy this again.

Yes / Weight Lost!
By aprilthe1st on Mar 3, 2021
We had tried all weight control dog foods, spent hours reading dog food bags for ‘Min/Max’ fat content. This is the Only dog food that assisted our 20lb Schipperke to drop weight. He is active -runs agility and FastCAT. Goes for walks. This food works !

great weight loos difference
By Luxie on Jan 23, 2021
Switched from Dr Tim’s Active (green bag) to this when my Jack Russell turned 9 years old, after several years on the other food she was gaining some weight so I looked into the brand less active formulas. Started with 4lb bag and she loved it, noticed some weight loss within a month so I reordered it again and now will be her food (alone with fresh meat like boiled chicken that I add to each meal). She is full of energy and doing great.

Check Calories!
By ChubsMaGee on Feb 19, 2021
Trying to find a low cal dog food is a challenge. Even those marketing themselves as weight management or weight control can be higher in calories than regular food. The calorie content is high, the kibble is really small (not ideal for large dogs) and it’s expensive.

Still undecided
By JazziesMom on Jan 29, 2021
At first my dog wouldn't eat this at all, even mixed in with other food. He would eat around this and leave this behind in the dish. Over the past week, he has learned to eventually eat it. Hasn't been long enough to have any effect on his weight, so we'll see how it goes. If he doesn't start eating it more freely, I will donate to someone else and start over.
