I know some kibble is coated in chicken fat and was wondering if this food is completely poultry free?

How do they prevent the oil in fish dog food from going rancid ?

The manufacturer adds Mixed Tocopherols to the food to keep it good longer.
Seeing that a new formula is now listed I need to know for future ordering. Our Newfy is allergic to all meat by-products i.e. beef, chicken, pork etc. except fish. Does the new formula have any in it?

Both the new and old formulas contain no chicken, beef, or pork by products and uses Herring meal, Salmon meal and Whitefish meal as primary protein sources.
It suggests that I feed my dog 2.5 cups per day. How long will a 14lb bag last? How long will the 28lb bag last?

There will be approximately 4 cups per pound of kibble. The 5 pound bag will have close to 20 cups, the 14 pound bag close to 56 cups and the 28 pound bag close to 112 cups. If using 2.5 cups per day the 14 pound bag will last close to 22 days and the 28 pound bag close to 44 days.

Huge Improvement Seen in My Dog after 1 Bag

Very healthy and high-quality food! We had our picky 2-year-old foxhound on Taste of the Wild with a similar protein breakdown for a year and it was causing allergies, a belly rash, and weight gain. After reading the reviews, we switched her over to this grain-free food and immediately her allergies and rash disappeared within just a couple of days. She's lost weight and looks much more fit. Her poops are the best they've ever been. Taste-wise, she seems to like it about the same, it's not like she's crazy about it, but she does eat it. I highly recommend this food!

Wouldn’t buy again

My dog loves all food but not this food. Lady was having some allergy issues so I tried to switch her food to this. She had been on it for over a month. Her stool became loose and she had an accident in her creat. She has never pooped in her cage since the day we brought her home. My husband said it was liquid. We also have a second dog that we switched to this food. They both started to ignore the food bowl and wouldn’t eat it. I had such high hopes because Lady’s father supposedly does well on this food. Now that I see all the bad reviews I am glad I caught it when I did and will no longer buy this.

Throw this 28 lb bag out!

My 80 lb red nose pit has been consuming this Coastal Catch for several years, no problems except sometimes boredom and a topper may be needed to entice. Three weeks ago, I received my auto ship delivery. My dog was excited, went to his dish, smelled, then walked away not to eat for almost 2 days. I put his regular freeze dried pork topper to entice and he picked through the kibble. Over the week's time after eating, he was at the door to go out within 2 hrs or less, and showing signs of intestinal distress, with progressively worse diarrhea. Last week it culminated in severe bloody diarrhea and out to the yard almost immediately. It was frightening, he has a very strict diet, no table scraps, no added foods, monitoring closely his worsening condition. Before going to the vet, I discontinued the Earthborn Coastal Catch totally and put my dog on 1 day of just plenty of water, then a white rice, boiled white meat chicken with pumpkin mixed in to see if I could stop the bloody gastro problems. I slowly increased the amount of his rice/chicken feedings and by the 3rd day he was back to normal! Yesterday, I wanted to confirm what I suspected (his kibble was poisoning him - was tainted). I gave him a small scoopful with some of the boiled chicken shred on top so he'd eat it. An hour later we were outside with diarrhea and sick again. My husband and I were up every hour through the night, taking him outside as he suffered with cramping and dog food poisoning again. YES - IT WAS THIS BAG OF COASTAL CATCH kibble - confirmed!!! Please, if you notice any digestive upset or loose stools with this food, stop it and contact Chewy to report it. I have a big tough sweet dog who could have died it happened so quickly. Chewy is great to deal with and handled the matter with a credit and I ordered something new.

Lots of Variety

I tried to transition my dog slowly to this food and she did like it but it didn't agree with her so I went back to her old food. I gave this food to my coworker because this is what she feeds her dog and he loves it! I love the fact that it comes in so many flavors too because I feel like my dog gets bored of eating the same thing all the time.

Good quality food

Been using Earthborn food for my 2 dogs for several years. I like having no grain options for dogs with allergies. This is a decent priced high quality food. My dogs love it, especially the fish flavors.

Changed the formula

Earthborn claims that the primary protein sources are herring, Pacific whiting, and salmon but this is an outright lie. Besides herring there is more pea protein than the other two fish combined. Pea is the SECOND, SIXTH, and EIGHTH ingredient whereas salmon and whiting are the 9TH and 10th, which means there's very little salmon and Pacific whiting. This never used to be the case. They claim pea is an excellent protein source but it's not, or at least not as good as Pacific whiting which used to be much higher in the ingredient list. I wasn't happy with their response when I emailed them so I no longer recommend this product after 10 years of loving it.
