How long does it take to warm up from tap water temperature?

Answer by AnnieoNov 19, 2025
I'm no expert, but in my experience, warm-up time will depend on the temperature of your tap water, the size of the tank, and the wattage of the heater, and maybe air temperature as well. Where I live, my tap water in January is way colder than it is in July, and my room temperature is less also, so my expectations have to be adaptable.

What are the tank sizes for each wattage option?

Answer by ChewyMar 07, 2023
The 75 watt is recommended for 5.5 – 13 Imp (6.6 – 15.8 US gallons), the 100 watt is recommended for 22 – 33 Imp (26.4 – 39.6 US gallons), the 150 watt is recommended for 44 – 66 Imp (53 – 79 US gallons), the 200 watt is recommended for 66 – 88 Imp (79 – 106 US gallons), the 250 watt is recommended for 88 – 132 Imp (106 – 159 US gallons) and the 300 watt is recommended for 132 – 220 Imp (159 – 264 US gallons).

What is the length of the heater?

Answer by ChewyDec 07, 2022
The 75 W heater is approximately 10.23 inches long, the 100 W is approximately 12.16 inches long, the 150 W is approximately 13.18 inches long, the 200 W is approximately 15.59 inches long, the 250 W is approximately 17.4 inches long and the 300 W is approximately 19.52 inches long.

What is the lowest you can set it to?

Answer by ChewyMar 13, 2023
This heater has a temperature range of 20-32 degrees Celsius (68-90 degrees Fahrenheit).

Slips off brackets

The design of the heater looks amazing but kept slipping off the secure suction cup holders. I don’t want a floating heater bobbing around.

I have others of these heaters that have been rock solid for decades so I expect this to be the same. It does a good job of holding the temperature. The temperature markings on the dial are off by three degrees so it took me a couple of days to calibrate the setting with a thermometer.

Have always had excellent experiences with Eheim products in the past. The last 3 aquarium heaters that I purchased, only lasted on average 2-3 months. Either the pilot,(on-off) light doesn’t ever come on, when heating, or when the pilot light, stays on, but the heater, never heats up. But, I still keep buying them. When you get a good one, it will last forever!
