Instructions
  1. Place your clean bucket near the aquarium and be sure the top of the bucket is below the bottom of the aquarium.
  2. Submerge the entire Hose and Gravel Tube into the aquarium water. Manipulate the unit so that all internal air escapes and the entire unit fills with water.
  3. Hold your thumb tightly over the end of the Hose so water does not escape. Lift the end of the Hose that you are holding out of the aquarium and lower it into the bucket.
  4. Remove your thumb from the end and water will begin to siphon from the aquarium.
  5. Immediately hold the Cylinder vertical and begin vacuuming the gravel using an up and down motion. Some gravel will rise into the Gravel Tube but will fall into place as the Gravel Tube is lifted. This process allows debris to separate from the gravel for easy removal.
  6. Refill your aquariums by filling your bucket with water that matches the temperature of your tank. WARNING! Adding water that is too hot or too cold can harm or even be fatal to your fish.

NOTE: Remove 10% of the water from your aquarium AT LEAST ONCE per month. Larger water changes MAY be harmful to your aquarium. If excessive debris is left in the gravel after you have performed your water change, more frequent water changes (twice monthly) may be needed.

    Not the one for me.

    By on

Been years since I've had to use a tank siphon so I ordered this recommended brand for size of my tank as specified. This pulls water out so fast I have little chance to clean gravel before the 25% of the water I need to replace is already out. Not an efficient way for me to get gravel clean at all. I should have remembered features of the model I used years ago that really would help me now, most importantly a flow control. I will be trying to return this and purchase one that better suits my specific needs. I recommend this as a well made siphon useful for a tank larger than 29 gallons or one with a bare-bottom that debris can be vacuumed off of speedily.

    Way too big

    By on

Our tank is small and even though I thought it would be the perfect size for our tank it's not. 5 gallons or up would be perfect anything else too small. We are stick with it.

    Not Functional

    By on

This was too small to pick up anything. I am better off draining entire tank and starting over.

This sucked in more ways than 2!

This doesn't have a small rock screen which is not noted in the description. I passed on to someone else with a turtle tank. A better description would have that there is NOT a screen...

    My favorite siphon

    By on

I've tried several other brands of siphons and the Python is the best, IMHO. With other brands, the hose loses its flexibility over time. Then it also loses its ability to seat properly on the tube, causing an air leak and loss of suction. But not with the Python. I have 12 tanks and own several Python siphons, including one that is quite a few years old, and it still works great.

    Perfect for the job!

    By on

I love Python siphons. The mini size is perfect for our ten gallon - the siphon starts easily and is strong enough for light gravel vacuuming without draining the tank too quickly. Perfect for water changes and cleaning days.

Great product for your fish tank!

I bought this for my mini 3.5 gallon tank. It’s a little long for the tank but it works perfectly!
