Are either of these sizes Airline approved for travel?

Would this carrier be suitable for a 16lb dachshund?

The 17 inch pet carrier is strong enough for a pet up to 15 pounds while the 20 inch pet carrier is strong enough for a pet up to 20 pounds. To select the best size for your pet we also recommend that you measure the length of your pet from nose to tail. When measuring the length, be sure to add approximately 2-4 inches to the overall length, depending on the size of your pet.
Can this be used and secured in a vehicle as a car carrier?

There is no seat belt loop on this expandable pet carrier.

I like the idea but saw better products at a local store for less money

I love the design idea of having an expandable area for my cat to be able to move around more once we are at our destination. But the sewing on the strap was poor (it broke and dropped my cat on the first use so I had to repair it) and the expandable sides open from the inside, so the top has to be open to open the sides. It would be better if the sides could be opened from the outside so the pets can't get out while you are expanding it.

Cool product!

I just received this product and it seems to be well made and well designed. The zippers work well. Love the feature that allows the sides to fan out. My dog is a little big for the carry-on's so the extra room from the expandable sides is great. (Its way better then being seperated and putting him thru cargo!). Nice product.
