We had this harness for many years (7) and it's time to replace. I wasn't sure of the style so read the reviews first. WHY do folks leave the harness on their pups all day? Complaints of their dogs chewing through the harness (and then being upset that Chewy wouldn't replace it *REALLY ??*) has me confused. Please don't diss a product because your dog chews it up. This harness is a walking tool, not a chew toy to be left alone with your dog. With that said, I am ordering another one that should last another 7 happy, walking years!
Doxie is a rescue and very easily frightened and often resistant when taken for a walk. She loves the idea of the walk but outside of her home she can be very insecure. People make her very uneasy and large dogs terrify her. You never know what she is going to react to on her daily walks. She has pulled out of numerous harnesses when frightened or sat down and refused to move. So far she has not pulled completely out of this one and the handle on the back is great to carry her about 5 feet to get her moving again when she has decided to dig in and refuse to move. She has a longer body, on the chunky side and shorter legs. For reference she is a Small/medium sized mutt, but similar shape to a west highland white terrier. This harness seems to fit her better than the others. One defect is the straps have the reflective side stitched incorrectly and is face down against her fur with the non reflective non colored side face up. I don’t really care as it doesn’t really show with her hair, but I did spend a little time at first trying to flip it over thinking it was twisted before realizing it was stitched backwards.
We’ve tried everything. Two dogs; jack russel mix pulls/barks on leash walks and pit/lab mix 90 lbs super strong. I am finally able to walk both dogs in my own without being yanked around.
I was so excited to get this harness for my boy, he's 17lbs but very strong and pulls all the time. Been using it for couple weeks now and does not work AT ALL!! very disappointed!
This harness was a bit too large for our pup, but she grew into it. We like the sturdy construction and ease of use. The grip handle is great for our little lady who's actively distracted and sometimes needs a little extra control.
I always was happy with Chewy but this time was horrible, my baby was waiting for his harness and they delivered size L instead of Medium. Now I am confused if I need to purchase a small or medium. I need my money back
My dogs were pulling me like a sled. They needed durable harnesses that reminded them of who’s in charge. Chewy even helped me order the correct fit. Now our walks are more zen and we can enjoy our time in the great outdoors!
My Doodle is absolutely over-the-moon when greeting stranger as well as those she loves, so control through a sturdy, but comfortable harness is essential for her training. She looks innocent but has herculean strength-my broken kneecap and torn rotator cuff can attest to that. Fortunately I found this harness. It protects her neck and balances the weight around her body when she goes haywire with love at first meet! I really find it as essential and at a great price.
So.. I have bought 2 of these in the past month and I have tried 2 different sizes but somehow my dog was able to losen the sides and was able to chew on it and broke both of them :( my dog is over a year old mix breed weighing roughly 100 pounds and i have tried the xl and large which both say are for big dogs which he is. I don't understand how he is able to losen the sides but he does and gets the handle chewed off or the buckle chewed off.
This is second one I purchase for new pup. It works great for our American Staffordshire nice wide chest and smaller at neck. And now for our Shepherd put who is longer and narrow snout. The handle at the top is key for control and training. Our staffy loved too chew previous 2 that he could wriggle out of. This one has been sturdy and secure.
