From the first day we adopted Rocket, no one has been able to guess what kind of dog he is. People have guessed 6 or 7 different choices! We were thrilled with this test. Easy to do, results came quickly with lots more information than I expected, and now we know Rocket's half Jack Russell and half rat terrier. Next time somebody asks "what kind of dog is that?" I can tell them for sure! Glad I did this.
Our dog looks mostly Boston terrier with a few strange traits, such as a long tail and huge pointy ears. We’ve always wondered what he could possibly be mixed with. We sent in our test and received the results a week later. 89% Boston terrier, 11% unresolved. Wonderful. I could have gotten the same response asking anyone off the street.
I got this for my girlfriend for Christmas, she has a Black Lab but he has a big head and is really built as well so she always wondered what he was. I swabbed his mouth for 30 seconds and then had the results back before Christmas and she was extremely excited to see what he was. Very easy process and they let you know where your sample is in transit as well as the lab. The "Reveal Video" was perfect in holding suspense and delivery - would Highly recommend! : )
While it’s pricey, I’m so glad I made the purchase. I rescued my first dog 6 years ago and purchased Embark 3 years ago. I was so excited to get the results as I was told he was a “hound mix” but wasn’t sold on this idea. Come to find out he is Chow, Pit Bull, Shepherd, and a whole other variety with no hound! This has helped me figure out some of his issues, like his random moodiness which I now know is common in Chow. I regularly check Embark to see if we have any new relatives and it’s so fun to compare pictures of relatives with how my pup looks now (at 8)
Embark said I was *100%* Native American Village Dog which is a German Shepard & wolf-like mix, 80+ pounds, straight up ears, long narrow snout, thick shedding hair, etc. I'm a 19 lb dog with the floppiest ears, little snout, non-shedding hair, curly tail, etc. They either mixed up my swab with that of a big dog, or just completely messed up. I submitted my DNA to their competitor and got results that actually make sense: largely toy poodle, chihuahua, & spaniel mix, with just enough Chow to explain my spotted tongue and curly tail.
Bought 2 for my 2 fur kids. Both are known mix breeds, I bought these tests to satisfy my curiosity. The test has zero accuracy OR the lab did not run the test but randomly assigned a report. Waste of money, time and effort.
I know now my dogs mix (rather surprising!)! It's helped me get a better idea of why he acts the way he does (he's a Russel mix so of course he has a prey drive). I even now know more about his coat type!
My daughter and her husband requested this for their sweet doggie. They have a pretty good idea what breeds he is, from the friend who gave him to them but they are still curious. We can't wait to find out!
It was exciting to find out what breeds my dog is. He’s a hairy beast and I just had to know why. Now I do! He’s a cattle dog pyrenees mix and I would have never assumed that! I always thought husky. It’s definitely fun to read up on and especially fun when you realize it links you to blood relatives! Some day I’ll see about getting him together with one of his half siblings.
Many people ask us if our Dane "has some mastiff in her" so we decided to do a DNA test. We gave them no information or photo - just to see if they really would know. It came back 100% Dane. We would love her either way, but it is nice to confirm. It's also nice to have the genetic markers for possible future problems.
