How well does this work to breakdown mixed breeds with no purebred relatives? Does it break down into actual breeds or just type? What percentage of DNA for a specific breed does a dog need for it to register?

Is this a one time fee or do you have to send payment also when you send the test in?

Once you purchase the kit, simply swab the inside of your dog's mouth, activate your kit, and send the sample in a prepaid envelope to the company's lab.

I have a wolf hybrid that I believe is at least 50% wolf, will this test be able to tell me what else he has and how much wolf?

This test can detect wolf ancestry as well as over 350 other dog breeds that may be present.

Can this test help with figuring out skin conditions your dog has?

While Embark can detect over 190 genetic variants associated with increased disease risk, they cannot provide medical diagnoses. You should talk to your vet if you are worried about specific medical conditions in your dog.

Bought this item with the excitement of finding more out about our pup. The item arrived, but had no fluid in the vial. I have been trying to get Embark to replace or refund. I sent them pictures proving that the item was incorrect, can’t seem to get a response back from them about how to proceed. I feel like I just wasted $110.

My dog doesnt like her mouth being touched and i was worried about her breaking the swab but it was very strong and well built so she was unable to break it after biting it multiple times. Phenomenal shipping time!

Everyone loves their dog despite what breed it is, but it is also fun just to know. With DNA test you get to see what your pup is made up of, and it may just explain some of their unique behaviors. Also, this test can show you what to watch out for and if your pet has any predisposed sensitivities to allergies. Chewy runs the same price as other sellers but in my opinion gets it to you much faster than the others.

This is the second dog I've tested with this kit. The first time it lumped 4 breeds together and said 20% total and had the other breeds spelled out how much %is

This is the second dog I've tested with this kit. The first time it lumped 4 breeds together and said 20% total and had the other breeds spelled out how much %is each dog. With my new dog, they listed each breed with each percentage which is what I wanted. I think the testing may have improved over time. This usually goes on sale around Christmas? But for me it's worth the money. Make sure you swab the dogs cheek long enough- 30 to 60 seconds.

DNA Test procedure

Took the swab. Mailed it. Tracking indicated that some man picked it up somewhere in San Diego, CA. Haven't heard a word since. That was weeks ago. Very disappointed

BUYER BEWARE!!!

Despite following the test instructions as written, Embark did not process the DNA sample we submitted. In an attempt to resolve the situation, I had to deal with

Despite following the test instructions as written, Embark did not process the DNA sample we submitted. In an attempt to resolve the situation, I had to deal with a chatbot that did not assist and then a human through the chat program. The person responding to my chats lacked the skill to communicate with me. There were so many words missing from their responses that I could not understand what they were trying to convey. Embark sent us a replacement swab; however, you must activate the swab through the Embark website. The Embark website does not recognize the EM # on the test kit we purchased or the number on the replacement swab. I have been unable to obtain assistance in resolving this issue. Their customer service is horrible. They deserve zero stars!!!
