Yes

Is Florentine sauce no longer creamy? White meat & turkey cans are same as Fare formula. Cats won't eat it. I have only been lucky with the tuna & salmon Florentine being correct. Is this a wide-spread label mistake? Please fix this! Need an answer!

Answer by GinnyBFeb 07, 2026
It is not a labeling mistake. It is a change in recipe. My cat won’t consider eating it. She’d rather starve.

My mom's cat got very sick shortly after eating this "new" food and the vet had to put him on a prescription diet, so she gave me the rest of the cans since our cat eat the same food and she didn't connect his getting sick to the food. I was shocked when I opened them as it clearly is a completely different recipe, but since my cat is used to getting some of the other Fancy Feast chicken flavors, I figured it was just a minor mixup and fed it to her as normal. Well next day *she* was throwing up all over the house as well!! Luckily she didn't get quite as sick as the other cat, but it took her a few days to fully recover. Now I find out this seems to be a *permanent* change and Purina is out and out LYING about it being a minor change to remove some artificial dyes. We aren't buying it. I for one, will never trust Purina with my cat's health again, and I'm dismayed that Chewy did not warn customers ordering this food that the recipe was changed and MANY customers are complaining about it.

I have ordered from Chewy for a very long time now and the last few orders I have received have been damaged. All the cans in the 32 count and larger boxes have been busted and some of the cans were bent and hard to open. I don't know if this is caused from being packaged wrong or if the carriers just sling the packages around and damage them but it is very aggravating . One time I received my box from Chewy and one of the Friskie cans was leaking and the box had dried cat food in it where it had leaked on the other cans. I love the products and the convenience of ordering online but it is very frustrating to receive my good in that condition.

My very picky cat had been eating this food for many years. However, when I opened the first can of food from my most recent order, it was obvious to me that something had changed. The formerly creamy sauce was gone, now dark sauce. Most importantly, my cat didn’t like the new food. I’ve been trying to find something that she likes and does not make her sick. The creamy delights chicken feast appears to work, but when I tried to order it through Chewy, it was out of stock. I’ll be checking back.

This is a completely different formula from what it used to be. Different texture, different sauce. At first I thought that it was a matter of a mislabeling error, until I saw tye other reviews here. As per usual, neither the manufacturer nor Chewy deem it necessary to inform their customers. I am so sick and tired of being taken advantage of. There is no doubt in my mind that this is a price increase in disguise, using cheaper, lesser quality ingredients. I will remove this from Autoship and likely not order again. Enough is enough.

I've been buying this food since it first came out (2007ish) and it has always been a white, creamy sauce that cats loved. No longer the same and Purina (owns Fancy Feast) insists the food is the same and all they did was remove the dye. They repeated this at least 5 times trying to convince me. Why then is the chicken no longer white meat, the sauce reddish brown and are the cats walking away from the food they love?? I had some cans of prior formula and they ate the white broth and walked away from the other. Chewy made it right, but Purina had no interest in helping or explaining to me why it is now a color if they removed the dye. Thanks Chewy for standing by the customer (and our fur family). BOO Purina for not giving any credence to customer feedback. Photo attached - same food (supposedly) old formula on the left (white), new on the right (brown).

Change in color cats won’t eat

Very sad that there was no warning to the food change and i have been back and forth with my cats throwing up and having diarrhea. Very disappointed and very unprofessional

These are results for Received my autoship case of the Chicken and Salmon Florentine. It is not the correct food. It appears to be one of the Primavera foods. It’s definitely not Chicken or Salmon Florentine. I’ve opened two new ordered cans of Chicken and SNEalmon, and they contain some other food, so the whole case must be incorrect. I'm a long-time customer for over 10 years, and I'm ordering chicken, salmon, and tuna florentine all the time. If your company changes the formula, you must post on your website to let us choose before the order is placed.

I see this is happening to hundreds maybe thousands of kitty families so we can mourner together. The new recipe is not creamy and my kitties won’t eat it. Now, as others have said, I will need to trial and error 70 varieties until I find one they like. I also noticed they’ve stopped eating the tuna florentine which still looks creamy, but I wonder if the recipe changed on that one too and it’s why they won’t eat it. I’m honesty relieved it was a recipe change because I was starting to wonder if my kitties were experiencing health issues by turning away their favorite food! If anyone finds a new food their kitty loves, please post a review on here to let all of us know! This is not Chewy’s fault, obviously. Chewy is the best.

I'm not convinced this is merely a "no artificial colors" recipe change

So my Moose *used to* love the chicken and salmon florentines, until they suddenly stopped making it with white sauce. He will still lick the gravy but he can tell something's different, and the new formula gives him diarrhea. When contacted by customers, Purina claimed that the only change made was to remove artificial colors and flavors. Now, how could the *absence* of a flavor or coloring ingredient cause diarrhea? I've never heard of such a thing, and many others have also reported diarrhea in their cats since the ingredients have changed. It's also suspicious that Purina will not provide any up-front info about these changes, and the ingredient info on the labels has remained unchanged. To protect Moose's health, I'll have to find a non-Nestle alternative, possibly even figure out a DIY cat-safe recipe for white sauce that doesn't upset his stomach. Purina? More like Ruin-a.

Sending this dish back to the kitchen.

Whatever was done to the recipes for the Florentine variety of Fancy Feast Medleys is by far not an improvement. My cats refuse to eat this food--and I just purchased

Whatever was done to the recipes for the Florentine variety of Fancy Feast Medleys is by far not an improvement. My cats refuse to eat this food--and I just purchased two not inexpensive boxes of it. It had been the only flavor variety I could trust they would eat with any consistency and now I get to go exploring for different choices. How very irresponsible to call the new recipe by the same name (Florentine) and change the recipe so drastically with no explicit warning to consumers. Not only that, but also to change all the past posted orders to reflect the new-looking product, the implication being that there was never a different Florentine. This food, despite the manufacturer's protestations, is by far not the same. It doesn't look the same, doesn't smell the same, and my cats certainly know it isn't the same. Yeah, yeah, no artificial flavors and all that. Sure. Works for somebody, I guess. But I know whom it doesn't work for.
