what is the % of protein and fat in this food?
Answer by ChewyMar 09, 2019
The protein content for this formula is 35% and the fat content is 20.00%.

What is the digestibility of this food? Are any feeding trials done?
Answer by ChewyMar 30, 2021
Farmina's formulation team adhere to both FEDIAF and AAFCO standards. They currently have trials running at Cornell University and look to be able to publish those results in the near future. In addition, their scientific committee continues to look into further studies. The protein digestibility is around 88% with fats and carbs at least 95%. Farmina believes in proper evidence based nutrition and continue to combine scientific research with quality ingredients. They use a Twin-Screw Extrusion process (double screw extruder) that is mainly used in food production for humans unlike most pet food manufacturers. A twin screw extruder activates a mechanical process that ensures better gelatinization of starch by increasing the digestibility of ingredients by 20-25% when compared to single-screw systems. A simple way to look at digestibility in general is to monitor the stool. With higher digestibility, you typically see less waste overall.

This says or medium maxi, what does this mean ? I havean Australian Terrier puppy that is 8 weeks old. She is on a different puppy food and I am looking at Farmina to transition.
Answer by ChewyDec 01, 2019
Medium and Maxi are referring to dog breed sizes. Maxi is referring to large breed dogs. This dog food is formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO Dog Food Nutrient Profiles for All Life Stages including growth of large size dogs (70 lb. or more as an adult).

How many calories are in a cup of this food?
Answer by ChewyMay 11, 2019

Quality changed

I had a similar experience as another reviewer. First bag was great, the second bag was a completely different color and gave my pup terrible diarrhea. Wanted to love this brand with the great ingredients but consistent quality is an issue.

Great with reservations

I had been feed this along with Victor Hi-Pro recommended by my Cane Corso pup's breeder. She loved it and ate it right up. I order another bag and it wasn't the same color, just looked completely different. I fed it to her along with her Victor and low and behold, the third day she had watery diarrhea. I stopped feeding it to her and it stools went back to normal and threw the ND in the trash. Something had changed!!!!

Best quality food

We love this brand for its outstanding ingredients. Marley loves it too and although we might have spoiled him, he gobbles it up. I think it is truly best quality food for pups, and to think our vet was PUSHING Hill's Diet food..

Upset stomach and super loose stool

This food upset my dog’s stomach and caused him to have very loose stool to the point where he completely regressed on his potty training. I have liked Farmina for other (adult) dogs and I had never had a problem but I don’t think I’ll be buying it again. Take more into account other’s reviews. I should have done that.

My dogs & cat love this food!

My German Shepherds love this food, my older girl who's now 7 has been eating it for the last 3 years now and my new Black Shepherd has thrived on it! It gives them energy, and their coats are so gorgeous! Healthy grains always. Sometimes it can be a little rich and give them looser stools but that's not really an issue given how good it is for them!

Puppy and Owner Approved

I ordered this food after researching dog nutrition. I'm impressed by the value of food you get for the money. I've always noticed my pets wanted to keep eating and eating when feeding other brands, this is related to fillers found in most of those very advertised kibbles. Pups shouldn't scarf their food down and should eat when they are hungry not starving. Not only do these bags last me longer (about two months for an estimated weight of 60lbs for an Australian shepherd *she is currently 14weeks and 24lbs*) My pups are actually getting the nutrients they needs and they never scarfed any of it down and enjoyed every bit ->even if they walk away and come back for more later<-. My little girl is healthy and growing great. Her fur is super soft and her eyes are so shinny and clear. Great food for your pups. And yes, fecal matter stinks in general. That's a good sign! Don't let that scare you away from a healthy pup! Side note- The last bag I ordered was a bit crumbly, but that's a very small set back. Never effected the food, and she still ate every bit on her own.
