How big is the kibble? Is it OK to feed this to my 12 lb dog? I thought smaller dogs needed a different formulation that had different proportion of ingredients compared to big dogs?

Answer by ChewyFeb 12, 2019
This formula is suitable for adult dogs of all breeds and sizes. The kibble measures 8-10 millimeters thick and 14-17 millimeters in diameter.

Why is the chicken that you are using no longer free range chicken?

Answer by ChewyJul 11, 2019
The chicken in this formula is free range.

Is this non-gmo & grain free?

Answer by ChewySep 04, 2019
Farmina excludes any potential GMO ingredients from their products and instead use only GMO-FREE ancestral cereals (spelt and oats).

I feel great about feeding this to my dogs. Yes, it’s more expensive, but how much are vet bills? How much is it worth to keep your dog healthy. This company has never ever had one recall since it’s been in business over 50 years. That is saying a lot. One of the very top selling dog foods is cheap and starts with the letter P****a has a whole Facebook page dedicating to it. P****a Pet food is still killing or sickening dogs and cats. No thank you. I am quite happy with Farmina.

My dog has been eating Farmina for 8 years and we've never had a problem until the past 6ish months. She's been a very food motivated dog her whole life and now she eats around the dry kibble or doesn't eat it at all, or she'll come back and eat it way later. She's just had her dental and everything looks good, so I believe it's a food/formula change issue. I did a little research and it looks like the company has changed manufacturing locations. I'm not sure the exact issue with the food but it's not the same quality as before and after 8 years I am done buying Farmina.

I feel good about feeding her such healthy food. Her poops are solid and don't stink! It's a win-win!

Great food for your dog!

This food is cooked with less heat and causes less damage to the nutrients. A good alternative to normal kibble.

It’s French, you know how they spoil their dogs

After careful consideration of other specialty brands. This was the best. The dogs recognize the box

Our dogs liked it

Us humans couldn’t get over the unpleasant odor when serving them this food. We moved on to another high quality food.

Excellent Dog Food

As a dog lover as well as a former breeder of Pembroke Welsh Corgis, I am very particular about what I feed my Corgis while also working within a budget. When I began raising Corgis, I did a lot of research on dog’s, their ancestral diet, what they need in their diet as well as what they should not have in their diet. I researched The Association of American Feed Control Officials recommendations are. What AAFCO recommends is the minimum of what any animal feed should have. I do not want the minimum - I want what is best for them. Hans just turned 7 years old and Ady will be 8 years old a a couple months. I watch their weight closely. I pay close attention to their hair coat, energy level, etc. to make sure they are getting proper nutrients. They have maintained a glossy, soft hair coat and everything else that I monitor with the change to Farmina. I made the change from a Merrick dog food about 4 months ago when I learned about Farmina N&D Ancestral Grain Chicken & Pomegranate Dog Food. Not that I any major complaints about the Merrick feed I had them on, but they had made some slight changes that I would have preferred they had not made. I was simply more impressed by Farmina. I read through Farmina’s website, saw their dedication to dogs (& cats) as well as quality ingredients. The cost difference was only 4 cents a pound more. I look at everything from protein and fat content and all ingredients. While I am not against all grains, I am against some grains being in my dogs’ feed. I don’t want corn, corn meal, or anything corn in my dogs’ feed. Nor do I want wheat, soy and white rice in it. I want to see certain things in the first five ingredients, with meat being number 1, preferably in the top 2 or 3 ingredients. Since ingredients are listed according to the amount that is in it, growing from highest to lowest, those first 5 ingredients are going to provide the bulk of the quality in the feed. I also avoid by-products as the source (which can be multiple sources) and quality is often questionable. By-products also tend to overly processed. “By-products” and “meal” are not the same thing. Meal is typically a single source and higher quality. Farmina meets or excesses what I look for in feed for Ady and Hans.

promptness and quality

Our senior dogs love it and they've been healthy on it for years! Costs more than cheap kibble, but we (and the dogs) are convinced it's worth it!
