I bought it in 2017 and it only got damaged now in 2023.
I bought a different brand in another store to replace it and returned it because nothing was good, despite the comments. That was this year.
I didn't remember where I had bought the old one, in this case this one and I looked until I found it here.
I'm going to buy the same one for the excellent experience I had from 2017 to 2023. It retracts very well and quickly, I never had a problem with tangles or having to pull to get it right. I walk well with my dog, at least 30 minutes a day, and there are days when we walk for 1 hour.
We walk in big places and he has all the freedom of movement. When he decides to run after a squirrel, I let him know that he will NOT reach the squirrel and the leash will not break, and there were several times that she took this blow and it lasted 5 years.
I went back to buy another one.

Great Item
This is the second one we have bought. The first one has been through the wringer and it is still working. We needed a second one as a back up. It is a great product and German made.
Great for cats
This leash works great for a cat who is not allowed outside unless he is on a leash. This gives him the space to roam while still being able to keep him safe.

Dangerous for Dog
I just bought this leash and first time with this brand. It started catching immediately and wont retract! You have to move the leash around in the handle to get it to retract. By then my dog was out in the street! She almost reached the other dog AND a car had to slam on brakes. The lack of retracting without a lot of manipulation keeps happening. I am reaching out to Chewy for a refund.

Other brands have lasted about 6 months before the tape at the end of the line frays... Hence I bought two different brands to try. This one has a way of letting the tape slip around a bit that seems to help with keeping it untangled and not stressed. My 23 lb corgi walks well and with the tape loose most the time... until s-q-u-i-r-r-e-l when I have to catch her before lunging. The brake on this model works well... and her response to "watch me, watch me" "walking, walking" a work in progress.

Love the adjustable length
I bought the small size for my 25 pound dog. I let the leash out to give my dog more freedom at the park and shorten it while on the street or sidewalk.

Don’t waste your money
This retractable leash lasted for only two walks with my 9 month old, 43 pound, Australian Shepard before it broke on the third. I bought the Large (110 lbs max) because my dog is very active. The fabric tape that the leash is made from is cheap and easily tears. Luckily the sound of the spool retracting after it broke caused her to freeze or it could have resulted in a disaster.

High quality leash, but....
Overall I am very satisfied with this leash, very easy to use, high quality, the only reason I gave 4 stars is that the handle is a little heavy and the grip is not to comfortable. It would be great if it would be more lightweight and more ergonomic for smaller hands. But it works fine and I am happy of my purchase.
Quality good, but......
The Flexi Classic has been redesigned since I last purchased one. The overall quality remains high but I was disappointed that the opening for your hand has gotten significantly smaller than my old one. I don't have giant hands but with heavy winter gloves I have to make an effort to jam all four fingers through the opening. My husband has an even worse time. Sometimes I just hold with 3 fingers and leave my pinky out. This makes holding the leash uncomfortable and the grip is not as secure in my hand as it should be. When this next gets redesigned I hope they will make the hand hold bigger.
