About This Item
Fluoxetine is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) that is prescribed to treat a variety of behavioral problems caused by separation anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorders. It works by increasing the effectiveness of serotonin in the brain, which aids in the management of anxiety and depression. The FDA has approved this drug for use in dogs to treat canine separation anxiety. It may take several weeks before you and your veterinarian can decide if this medicine is working as desired.

The rescue group I got Frankie from suggested this. Frankie is a young blind neurological dog. He is a holy terror and also can be vicious. This medicine was recommended for him and it really calmed him down. Sadly we had a trainer who should stick to training and not tell how to administer medicine. We slowly cut down the dosage and eliminated it for one day and knew he will have to be on it the rest of his life. We increased back to one dose per day rather than 2 and he seemed fine with it until today. We will be putting him on 2x per day. It makes him into a very sweet dog. He is a foster failure.
Extremely bitter and my cat hates it. He spits it out and foams at the mouth...you definitely need to mix it with something to help with the horrid taste.
No more marking!
Worked wonders for my very anxious cat who has marking issues. However, she reallllly hates the taste but thankfully will take it mixed in wet food.
This my second bottle. Works so well on my cat that I've had to cut down on doses per week. Impressed...
PLEASE CHECK EXPIRATION DATES
I received two bottles of this very expensive medication. The expiration date on both was only 8 months away! One of these bottles will have well expired before it can be used in it's entirety. I did call and I'm hoping Chewy is taking care of the situation as they said they would. If they do, then I would recommend this item 100 percent
It was very easy to get my pets medication fast and accurate.
Medicine for feline
Was not aware that Chewy had these meds. A great time & $ saver!
Medication works, but the liquid was rough
This version of fluoxetine worked for our cat, but he needed such a large dose that the liquid wrecked his stomach after a while. I am so glad it is available, as it let us check and make sure it was going to work before exploring other options. Liquid medications are always so much easier to start with for kitties! I would try this again without hesitation on our others if we ever needed to.
Much better price than elsewhere.
Very happy with this product. Even happier with the price!
Results Less Than Needed
Our vet recommended Fluoxetine to help our recently rescued kitty adjust to her new home and companion cat (both of whom are 9+ years old). She had been in four places (original owner died, family member adopted but surrendered to city shelter in less than a month, then was saved by a local rescue) before we adopted her. While we followed the recommended protocol for introducing her to our other cat, she was extremely aggressive at every opportunity. Our house is an open floor plan so areas that can be closed off are limited. Using a baby-gate at the doorway was marginally successful but she managed to slip through it several times and immediately went into attack mode, howling and screeching. We had tried a number of other products (Feliway, Rescue Remedy, ComfortEze, etc.) with no success. This is week #4 on Fluoxetine. Yesterday, after seeing our other cat sitting on the stairs, she used her body weight to pry open the baby gate in order to get through, run down the steps, and attack him. Our vet has told us that if the Fluoxetine does not work, she may “need to be an only cat.” We are already attached to her and cannot bear the thought of giving her up. In addition, the concept of making her adapt to yet another new home is very upsetting. We are hoping that continued use of Fluoxetine will have the desired effect.
