The intake sponge and biofoam block should be replaced every 3 months to help trap debris most effectively. The biomax can be replaced periodically.

What comes in the box? Just the filter or the filter media too?

Filter stopped working after 2 to 3 days

I purchased a filter in December 2025 and at first it was pumping great but then it quit on me after about 12 hours then I messaged chewy and thankfully they sent

I purchased a filter in December 2025 and at first it was pumping great but then it quit on me after about 12 hours then I messaged chewy and thankfully they sent me another filter but that one quit on me within the first 10 hours and then I messed around with it and got it to start working again for another three days then it quit working again. I’m not sure what is going on with these filters or why they would stop working but definitely a waste of your money and it’s a shame because fluval filters are supposed to be the best

Perfect filter

I have been using aqua clear/ Fluval for along time. The redesign has pluses and minus. Minus- I don’t like that the lid has small holes in it. I feel like dust

I have been using aqua clear/ Fluval for along time. The redesign has pluses and minus. Minus- I don’t like that the lid has small holes in it. I feel like dust and dirt can get inside filter. Having hard water, I have noticed hard water deposits inside holes and difficult to remove. The redesign of media basket makes it alittle more difficult for some fluval media to fit in because of extra fabric of the pouches. Plus- love redesign shape of lid over older style. I love that an extra carbon to fit over where water sucks in filter. It protects little fish and babies. This is great for livebears fry. Also it comes with everything you need to get your tank up and running.

I got the Fluval AC50 filter to replace my old Fluval C3 filter. The C3 worked well but was many years old and was beginning to make a little noise. The AC50 is the same size but easier to assemble/disassemble. It is very quiet and cleared the tank up quickly after a major clean. The water looks clearer as well.
