What filters would I need for this system

What do you recommend to be changed at least once a month... filter, cartridge foam ECT?

Answer by ChewyFeb 22, 2018
Fluval Poly/Foam: Replace poly/foam every 4-6 weeks. Biological C-Nodes: Replace half the quantity every 6 months. Never replace all c-nodes at once. Activated Carbon Insert: Replace Activated Carbon every 2-4 weeks. Bio-Screen: Replace Bio Screen every 2-3 months. Motor O-Ring: Replace once a year to prevent leaking.

Does the flu Val C4 come with all the filter media and carbon when you purchase it or do you got to buy all that separate

Answer by ChewyJan 11, 2018
This item will include: Filter Cover, Filter Case, Leveling Device, C-Nodes, “U” Tube, Telescopic Intake Tube, Bio-Screen, Mechanical Frame, Chemical Basket, Impeller Cover Assembly, Impeller, Biological Trickle Chamber with Cover, Poly/Foam Pad, Activated Carbon and the Motor Unit with Seal Ring.

I have a ten gallon fish tank with 8 small goldfish will the C3 be good for me or the C4

Answer by ChewyAug 25, 2018
The C3 and C4 aren't recommended for your size tank especially if the proper precautions aren't taken to prevent your fish from getting sucked in. The C2 is made for tanks between 10-30 gallons and would be the best option for a 10 gallon tank.

Replacing old Fluval with a new design

I replaced my old fluval 70 filter with the new fluval c3 power filter for tanks up to 50 gallons. I am using it in my 49 gallon long aquarium and I was a little

I replaced my old fluval 70 filter with the new fluval c3 power filter for tanks up to 50 gallons. I am using it in my 49 gallon long aquarium and I was a little nervous at the size difference when pulling it out of the box because it is significantly smaller than the fluval 70 but wow did it do wonders on my overgrown mildly neglected tank. I cleaned the algae off the sides and did a bit of plant work which really made the water dingy to see what the filter could really do and it was very clear within an hour. I have tannin water for my angle fish and it even removed some of the yellow tinge to the water by the evening. Water flow is perfect for my tank and I have it on the lowest setting too. My only complaint is that the filter pipe that goes in the water to suck the water up is cheap feeling. It might work fine but the old fluval pipe felt like higher quality plastic. That makes me wonder where else they may have cut corners in the build. Other than that the system was easy to put together out of the box and I like its more compact design. It’s quiet too. So far I’d highly recommend the fluval power filter lines.

I should have gone with the 50 gal filter.

Does not work well on my 30 gal, and motor quits frequently.

Sometimes the water flow stops for no apparent reason. I have to get it going

I am not thrilled. The fish are non-communicative, but they are not dying.

This filter is one of the most comprehensive hang on the back filters I’ve used. It has three different cartridges that go in it that you can change alternately to keep your beneficial bacteria going. It is well designed and filters quite well. It also has good flow. Two things that I wish it would do that it doesn’t 1. It is not self priming. 2. The intake tube needs to have an extension for taller aquariums. If this is truly a 50 gallon hang on the back filter then it’s going to be in tanks that are taller so it needs a longer uplift tube for the intake. In the pictures for my review, you can see the uptake tubes for the hang on the back, which has the red arrow pointing to it. The uptake tube on the right is for my canister filter. You can see that it is considerably longer. Other than those two things, I truly do like this filter quite a bit. It is one of the best hang on the back filters I’ve had in my 40 year career of keeping aquariums.

This filter works really well at keeping my water clean. It’s quiet, however, I have noticed every once in while I will hear a slight buzzing sound. I thought it may be air in the motor but my airstone isn’t close enough for the bubbles to go into the filter intake. I haven’t had enough time to figure out what is going on with it, but the filter works and it only does that periodically. The media is easy to clean and I like that each media is in a separate container you can remove for cleaning.

Very quiet

Seems to be doing the job, struggled after we put new substrate in to get the water clear, but after 24 hours the 40 gallon aquarium is gorgeous
