WOW THIS CAGE IS BEASTLY!! FIVE STARS!
By MorningDove on Feb 17, 2021 Top 250 Contributor
My young, very athletic 75 lb German Shepherd had busted out of several well-made wire crates, rearranging the interior of my home while I’m out... driving me crazy! In absolute desperation, I ordered this Ultimate Heavy Duty Steel Single Door Crate. I had a friend help me put it together, which was very necessary. This is a beast of a crate and contains my dog well. I placed a “chewproof” K9 bed over the metal bar floor, as my dog is accustomed to this level of comfort (and no one should sleep on bars!! Plus, my dog could get his toes caught in the floor bars- so I had to make sure that never happens). I installed a large screw-on clamped in water bowl in one corner, to give my dog access to fresh, clean water at all times. I only need to slide one of the two door bolts, in order to secure my dog in this crate. I really love the locking wheels! German Shepherds shed, so it’s easy to roll crate out of the way to vacuum...love this!! This crate is just large enough for my 75 lb Shepherd to sit in, with his ears NOT sticking out of the top. He can also lie down stretched out fairly comfortably. His previous crate (that he bent) was a little longer and thus more comfy, but THIS crate is 100% safe and STURDY. I will never need another crate for my dog. He sleeps in it and I keep him in it if I have to leave him alone, knowing that there’s absolutely no way he can get out of it to get into mischief. If I ever move I will simply roll it onto a truck - will never take this crate apart, but it’s nice to know that I COULD, LOL. … more

Peace of mind
By Edavison8 on Feb 8, 2021
I have had two incidences with my dog one due to fireworks and one due to a noise from an automatic air freshener that she’s very afraid of of that was not turned off. She broke out of the wire cage both times. I have this constant fear that she would wake up with a strangled dog. I bought this cage because I’d like the design of the door the wheels are very tightly locked but she doesn’t like the height so I removed the wheels and put in screw on feet that I got from munchkin that I use for the baby gates and dog gates, it’s a bit on the pricey side but well worth the peace of mind that I get.

Not for a dog with bite strength
By Misled on Jan 14, 2021
I was not expecting this cage to be chew proof, however, my dog has a strong enough bite where not much will not stand a chance. I was hoping that this cage would at least make it a little more difficult for him while I am crate training him. Unfortunately, while in the FIRST training session, on the day I received the shipment, he EASILY started damaging one of the bars, I quickly stopped him from chewing through it but if left alone for a few minutes, he would have broken it completely. The title of this crate is very misleading, especially for the cost. If your dog does not have a strong bite then this may be for you. I cannot say the same for myself.

No replacement parts
By Maddoggiemom on Jan 31, 2021
Horrible! Wheels were bent and broken. They do not offer replacement parts for this cage. You need to send the whole thing back to get a replacement and if that one is dented or missing anything you need to send that whole cage back again. And if you are lucky they won't charge you for the return shipping label! This cage was expensive and all i needed was the broken wheels replaces.

Worth The Money
By Kellie on Jan 27, 2021
I purchased this crate for a large (100+ lb Pitty) who suffers separation anxiety. We had what we thought was a heavy duty crate and came home to find the bars all bent and mangled. I was apprehensive about spending the money on this crate (we went with the large size) but I am happy we did...the crate is well built, easy to put together and our "Jethro" is loving his new home!!

Great crate
By Jill on Jan 21, 2021
Resisted spending the money for this kennel, but ran out of options with my severely anxious Golden Doodle. At 55 lbs he could somehow bend the wire crate enough to pop the joints and escape every day - didn't care he was scraping his skin off his legs and nose. Since he's been in this heavy duty crate, he has calmed down considerably when I have to leave him to go to work. Took a couple of weeks. This morning he didn't whine or bark once. He absolutely cannot get out. The slide style door "locks" are such that he cannot manipulate them, although he has tried. Other heavy duty kennels have flimsier hinge style closers...he would have figured that out in a day. I still run a chain and padlock Resisted spending the money for this kennel, but ran out of options with my severely anxious Golden Doodle. I still run a chain and padlock through the front panel and the door because if he ever did figure it out, there would be destruction. But that's for my peace of mind rather than out of necessity. The tray beneath the kennel is a great feature too as he cannot get to it. He ate the hard plastic tray that came in the first wire kennel and bent the heavy duty metal tray that was the replacement. I was concerned about him laying on the bars of the floor of the kennel, since I can't put any kind of pad in there as he would eat it. It seems to be okay. I've sat in there too and it's not as uncomfortable as you would expect because the bars are close enough together they support his body/legs just fine. Was also concerned about the wheels as he has shifted other kennels around by throwing himself at the side walls. The wheels lock and he has not been able to move it at all. I can't move it without unlocking the wheels. Now that he has accepted he cannot get out, he has quit trying. All in all, very very pleased with this kennel. It has saved my sanity and lowered both my and my dog's stress levels. Absolutely recommend it if you have an anxious escape artist on your hands. You can either spend the money now, or buy a few more cheaper kennels, and then get this one. You won't be sorry. It is very heavy and requires two people to get it in the house, although the UPS man did get it to the front porch, up 3 icy steps, by himself. Assembly is very simple but the panels are difficult to get out of the box by yourself. Two people is best. … more

Can’t chew out of it!
By Eileen on Feb 5, 2021
My dog needs to be in a crate when we are not home to keep him safe. He previously chewed through two wire crates. I was worried it would be hard on his paws because he can’t have a bed in there but he just lays down and seems comfortable enough.

Broken wheels
By Mila on Feb 5, 2021
These wheels are not heavy duty enough for the weight of this kennel. I just move short distance to vacuum underneath. Every time I have trouble and find ball bearings that have fallen out of the wheels. Shameful for the price of this item.

So far so good!
By Jules on Jan 24, 2021
Quick shipping! Easy to put together. So far has kept our German Shepherd contained. For my 75 pound German Shepherd this kennel is big enough for him And my miniature golden doodle. We got the large. He seems to be less anxious when we are gone if she is in the kennel with him.

LOVE LOVE LOVE
By HK123 on Jan 14, 2021
Y'all, this was so worth the money. My dog has been through THREE wire crates and this is the only one she has not be able to escape out of. Although she looks unhappy in the picture, she loves it. She even jumped in when I left the door open.
