This is how I learned cats are color blind to red.

To preface, my couches are grey and my rug is grey. When I first got this, I played with Yuri and Yuna on my hard wood floors and they had fun chasing it around

To preface, my couches are grey and my rug is grey. When I first got this, I played with Yuri and Yuna on my hard wood floors and they had fun chasing it around. However when it moved onto the rug, Yuri looked confused and started sniffing the rug wondering where it went. If I moved it, she'd see the movement then lose it again when it stopped. I actually got a little scared wondering if something was going bad with her eyes, but it happened to Yuna too. Turns out, cats see red as grey. So, if you have grey floors, rugs, or furniture, and your cats don't seem interested, it's probably because they can't see it well. Cute toy regardless.

Unfortunately this was a strong no for both of my cats. They typically LOVE string toys, but they wouldn't play with this one. Not sure why unless it was because

Unfortunately this was a strong no for both of my cats. They typically LOVE string toys, but they wouldn't play with this one. Not sure why unless it was because of the large heart on the end. The other string toys I have either don't have anything on the end or have a worm on the end that sort of jumps around when I move it. However, the heart on this toy is sort of bulky and clumsy. It just sort of hangs there on the string in an unenticing kind of way. The other issue I had with this toy was that the stick and string are very short. I typically play with the cats while standing up, but I had to bend over a bit to do that with this toy. It's better if you're either playing with them while sitting or if you're really short I imagine. (I'm very tall) As far as the catnip, I'm not really sure what it has to do with the string toy. My cats like to roll around in catnip, not bat at it on a string. Plus the catnip wouldn't stick to the heart. Other than that, catnip is catnip, so what's not to love about that?

This toy is so cute and my cats were very interested in it. Unfortunately, the first time we played with it, one of the cats grabbed it and the heart came off

This toy is so cute and my cats were very interested in it. Unfortunately, the first time we played with it, one of the cats grabbed it and the heart came off. The cats played with the heart by itself for a little while, but lost interest quickly when it didn’t move any longer. I tried to replace the heart back onto the string, but it wouldn’t stay attached. We were all disappointed. Hopefully that was just a “one off” thing and others will not have the same experience.

One word of caution…..if you have a cat that likes to swallow strange things as we have, she immediately started swallowing the little curly streamers. So I’ll have to cut them off as I do with feathers on toys. Or, just don’t leave it out unattended. I do recommend this product, as they absolutely love it.
