How much your cat needs to be nourished daily depends on their activity levels and what stage of life they are in. Generally, the more active they are (think adventurous outdoor cats) the more they’ll need to eat.
These feeding guidelines are averages and the needs of individual cats may vary.
Please consult your veterinarian for the best feeding regimen for your cat.
While it’s perfectly safe to stop feeding your cat’s previous food one day and introduce Fussie Cat the next, we recommend a gradual transition to Fussie Cat for up to 2 weeks. This is especially true if your cat has been previously fed a high grain, corn, wheat or soy diet. Start by introducing a small amount of Fussie Cat, increasing it daily while decreasing the previous food by the same amount. This will help avoid upset stomachs as it makes it easier for your pet’s digestive system to acclimate.
What sets Fussie Cat apart from other pet foods?
Fussie Cat recipes are based on our Meat First philosophy. Meat or fish is always the main ingredient. As cats are obligate carnivores, nothing but a Meat First recipe will provide complete, Physiologically Tuned™ nutrition for your pet.
Why is real meat as the first ingredient so important?
All Fussie Cat recipes are based on our Meat First™ philosophy because cats are obligate carnivores. They require high amounts of protein to thrive, and lack the digestive enzymes to properly break down and combine incomplete plant proteins. This means they must have high-quality animal protein for optimal health.
Should Fussie Cat canned foods be refrigerated after opening?
Yes. Any unused portion must be refrigerated in a sealed container. Consider a plastic container with a tight-fitting lid. In addition, we recommend using each meal completely within 4 days of opening it. If your cat doesn’t care for cold food, let it sit at room temperature for around 30 minutes, or microwave it for 10 seconds (in a microwave safe dish, not the can), prior to feeding.
How do I read the dates on cans of Fussie Cat?
To help ensure you’re getting the freshest food for your cat, we provide both a “Production Date” and an “Expiration Date” on our packaging, located on the bottom of the can. It will read: “PRO MM/DD/YYYY, and EXP MM/DD/YYYY.” Never feed our pet food or any other brand to your cat past the expiration date.
What is the shelf life of Fussie Cat food?
Our recipes are vacuum sealed in our kitchen to give them a shelf life of 3 years. As with any pet food, never feed our meals to your pet past the expiration date, which is clearly marked on the bottom of the can.
Fussie Cat may be healthy, but will my cat like it?
The healthiest recipe in the world is useless if your cat won’t eat it. Conversely, the most delicious recipe falls short if it doesn’t provide the nutrition your cat’s biology demands. That’s why our recipes are all “Co-Created by Cats.™” We start with the Meat First™ ingredients your cat needs to thrive, then we taste test our meals with actual pets to create meals that are as delicious as they are nutritious.
Can I feed my cat dog food, or vice versa?
No. Despite what you may have heard, cats and dogs have unique nutritional needs and should be fed meals designed specifically for their needs. Health problems may occur from not feeding your pet a complete and balanced, species appropriate diet. Check the AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials) statement, or on the product packaging to determine if that recipe is appropriate for your pet’s nutritional requirements.
Is Fussie Cat easy to rotate between flavors with my sensitive feline?
Because Fussie Cat® products are formulated to have similar nutrient profiles it is a great rotational diet. If your cat is sensitive to a certain recipe we recommend that you try another.
How do I know Fussie Cat provides my pet with quality nutrition?
All Fussie Cat foods are made in an FDA-approved kitchen that also produces human-grade foods. We regularly inspect everything from the manufacturing process to the raw ingredients that go in our foods so you can rest assured your cat’s meals are prepared under the strictest guidelines for quality control that meets international standards.
Do you perform any invasive animal testing in developing your products?
No, and we never will. Our company was founded on the basis of providing delicious, nutritionally correct, value conscious meals for your cat. To fine-tune our recipes, we conduct trials where our food is fed to pets. This is done in a comfortable, stress-free environment for the animals.
What is AAFCO and is Fussie Cat AAFCO approved?
AAFCO stands for Association of American Feed Control Officials. All Fussie Cat recipes are formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO for all life stages of your pet. This certifies that Fussie Cat is a nutritionally complete product that can be fed to your pet as its sole ration without adding any other substance except water. For more information on AAFCO regulations, visit aafco.org.

Co-Created by Cats
Instead of just assuming what kind of food cats will like, Fussie Cat lets them call the shots. Each recipe is co-created and taste-tested by cats to make sure your own kitty will love it. Aside from being highly palatable, Fussie Cat wet and dry foods are full of quality meats like boneless chicken, duck, tuna, shrimp and prawns to make sure your little carnivore is getting the protein-rich, feline-appropriate diet she needs.

Made for Meat Lovers
If there's one thing cats crave, it's the rich taste of pure meat. It makes sense, because they're obligate carnivores. Your four-legged friend probably lets you know exactly what she likes, and it's sure to be fish, poultry or meat. Fussie Cat has farm-raised poultry, ocean fish from the South Pacific, and a whole range of interesting seafood options like Threadfin Bream, smoked tuna, mussels, clams and anchovies.
Physiologically Correct Diets
Knowing that cats need meat protein to survive, Fussie Cat developed formulas that they call Physiologically Correct. As true carnivores, their bodies are extremely efficient in processing meat, so 20% of their diet should come from animal proteins. Fussie Cat's foods start with meat, are low in carbs and include a complete spectrum of essential vitamins and minerals. You can be sure your kitty's getting all the necessary amino acids, protein and other nutrients.

Kitty's Choice
With two canned food lines and several tempting dry food options, your cat can always have the dinner she prefers. Fussie Cat Premium is a tuna-based menu that pairs this popular fish with chicken or seafood delicacies. Super Premium is made for chicken lovers with boneless chicken, low sodium levels and plenty of omegas. Market Fresh dry foods are crunchy and delicious, with proteins full of vitamin B12, and antioxidant-rich cranberries and blueberries.
Outstanding Quality Control
Fussie Cat makes their top-quality foods in an FDA-registered kitchen—the same kitchen that produces canned food that's fit for people to eat. Thorough quality inspections are conducted daily for food safety, heavy metals, pathogens, contamination and pesticides, so the end product is everything that you should expect it to be.

About Fussie Cat
Fussie Cat uses a carnivore-friendly, meat-first philosophy to provide wholesome meals that are full of the animal proteins your cat needs to thrive. Meat is always the main course, and carbohydrates only appear in limited amounts. They've created recipes that not only pass the strictest international food safety tests, but also kitty taste tests with flying colors. Cats from all corners of the U.S. will find all their favorites in Fussie Cat's Market Fresh dry foods and flavorful wet foods.

hazel loves this one too!
By haze on Apr 9, 2021
So many poor reviews that really do not depict this product. Many times cats don't like to go from crack food (lower grade dry food) to a higher grade. You can always go down to crack but once on crack you can't come back. Anyway, Hazel loves this one that I still mix w/her Natural Balance Indoor (even though she is inside/outside). She loves this flavor recommended by pet store. Happy I found a good one!

All of my 6 cats live this
By LynnZ on Feb 25, 2021
I originally got Fussie Cat dry kibble as free samples from my local pet food store. I normally would not have tried this due to its much higher cost than national brands of dry kibble. But my Mama cat was getting sick (vomiting) every time she ate the National brand dry food. They all get wet food for regular meals, but Mama and her 5 kitties (all rescues and now adults) get a small handful as a late night snack. They all love it. And Mama no longer gets sick when given Fussie Cat dry kibble.

Kittens like it but fur was greasy
By Ames on Jan 29, 2021
I fostered some kittens for a rescue and ended up adopting two of them. The rescue had provided this food for when I introduced dry food, and they really seemed to like it and had good energy and good stool etc, so I kept on feeding this food after adoption. They eat half and half wet (different brand) and half this dry food. However they are six months old now and they have had some greasy fur off and on, so I decided to try switching their dry food to something made specifically for kittens from the same brand as their wet food (this Fussie Cat food is for kittens and cats, it says on the label) to see if that helped before seeing the vet about possible food sensitivities. Sure enough within I fostered some kittens for a rescue and ended up adopting two of them. Fussy cats like Fussie Cat!
By judyofjax on Jan 22, 2021
I originally switched my cats to this food back when one of them was diagnosed with diabetes. Both cats at the time were finicky eaters but immediately loved this! The poop generated is less than produced with commercial cat food that has all the carbs and fillers because the cats are satisfied with a smaller amount, and the poop doesn't smell as bad. The one with diabetes ended up going to the rainbow bridge, but I kept my remaining cat on this food. Her coat is absolutely gorgeous! And did I say that Fussie Cat tests their recipes on real cats in their laboratory? Found this in my research before I started buying that brand. Love, love, love.

WASTE of $
By CHELL on Mar 26, 2021
At almost $20/bag, not GOOD FOR CAT is what my vet said! Wean him off of this. If my cat had issues in future & needed a change in diet, he may not tolerate food needed!

My cats loved this food.
By Lolalee on Feb 5, 2021
Without hesitation, all 6 of my cats ate this food. In fact, they were eating it in favor of canned food. I would rather they ate mainly canned food but this dry food has good ingredients. So, the bottom line is they love it but I'm on the fence.

Fussie Cat Dry Cat Food
By Firecat on Jan 15, 2021
I bought this product on recommendation of a family member. My cat would not eat this food. After 3 days of not eating, I had to throw it away and buy what he is used to eating. Even mixing the old food with the Fussie Cat, he would not eat it. He kept knocking the bowl over emptying it. On the other hand, the dog loved it.

Fussie Cat

We had never heard of this brand before we adopted a kitten from a rescue organization that recommended it. We’re impressed with the ingredients, and she loves it. This is our new favorite brand.

Cat did not like
By Steff on Jan 12, 2021
Got this to switch my cat over from a different brand. Opened the bag, let my kitty sniff some of the kibble and he literally gagged! Couldn’t get him to try it after that. Guess my kitty is not a Fussie cat.
