While it’s perfectly safe to stop feeding your cat’s previous food one day and introduce Fussie Cat the next, we recommend a gradual transition to Fussie Cat for up to 2 weeks. This is especially true if your cat has been previously fed a high grain, corn, wheat or soy diet. Start by introducing a small amount of Fussie Cat, increasing it daily while decreasing the previous food by the same amount. This will help avoid upset stomachs as it makes it easier for your pet’s digestive system to acclimate.
What sets Fussie Cat apart from other pet foods?
Fussie Cat recipes are based on our Meat First philosophy. Meat or fish is always the main ingredient. As cats are obligate carnivores, nothing but a Meat First recipe will provide complete, Physiologically Tuned™ nutrition for your pet.
Why is real meat as the first ingredient so important?
All Fussie Cat recipes are based on our Meat First™ philosophy because cats are obligate carnivores. They require high amounts of protein to thrive, and lack the digestive enzymes to properly break down and combine incomplete plant proteins. This means they must have high-quality animal protein for optimal health.
Should Fussie Cat canned foods be refrigerated after opening?
Yes. Any unused portion must be refrigerated in a sealed container. Consider a plastic container with a tight-fitting lid. In addition, we recommend using each meal completely within 4 days of opening it. If your cat doesn’t care for cold food, let it sit at room temperature for around 30 minutes, or microwave it for 10 seconds (in a microwave safe dish, not the can), prior to feeding.
How do I read the dates on cans of Fussie Cat?
To help ensure you’re getting the freshest food for your cat, we provide both a “Production Date” and an “Expiration Date” on our packaging, located on the bottom of the can. It will read: “PRO MM/DD/YYYY, and EXP MM/DD/YYYY.” Never feed our pet food or any other brand to your cat past the expiration date.
What is the shelf life of Fussie Cat food?
Our recipes are vacuum sealed in our kitchen to give them a shelf life of 3 years. As with any pet food, never feed our meals to your pet past the expiration date, which is clearly marked on the bottom of the can.
Fussie Cat may be healthy, but will my cat like it?
The healthiest recipe in the world is useless if your cat won’t eat it. Conversely, the most delicious recipe falls short if it doesn’t provide the nutrition your cat’s biology demands. That’s why our recipes are all “Co-Created by Cats.™” We start with the Meat First™ ingredients your cat needs to thrive, then we taste test our meals with actual pets to create meals that are as delicious as they are nutritious.
Can I feed my cat dog food, or vice versa?
No. Despite what you may have heard, cats and dogs have unique nutritional needs and should be fed meals designed specifically for their needs. Health problems may occur from not feeding your pet a complete and balanced, species appropriate diet. Check the AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials) statement, or on the product packaging to determine if that recipe is appropriate for your pet’s nutritional requirements.
Is Fussie Cat easy to rotate between flavors with my sensitive feline?
Because Fussie Cat® products are formulated to have similar nutrient profiles it is a great rotational diet. If your cat is sensitive to a certain recipe we recommend that you try another.
How do I know Fussie Cat provides my pet with quality nutrition?
All Fussie Cat foods are made in an FDA-approved kitchen that also produces human-grade foods. We regularly inspect everything from the manufacturing process to the raw ingredients that go in our foods so you can rest assured your cat’s meals are prepared under the strictest guidelines for quality control that meets international standards.
Do you perform any invasive animal testing in developing your products?
No, and we never will. Our company was founded on the basis of providing delicious, nutritionally correct, value conscious meals for your cat. To fine-tune our recipes, we conduct trials where our food is fed to pets. This is done in a comfortable, stress-free environment for the animals.
What is AAFCO and is Fussie Cat AAFCO approved?
AAFCO stands for Association of American Feed Control Officials. All Fussie Cat recipes are formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO for all life stages of your pet. This certifies that Fussie Cat is a nutritionally complete product that can be fed to your pet as its sole ration without adding any other substance except water. For more information on AAFCO regulations, visit aafco.org.

Co-Created by Cats
Instead of just assuming what kind of food cats will like, Fussie Cat lets them call the shots. Each recipe is co-created and taste-tested by cats to make sure your own kitty will love it. Aside from being highly palatable, Fussie Cat wet and dry foods are full of quality meats like boneless chicken, duck, tuna, shrimp and prawns to make sure your little carnivore is getting the protein-rich, feline-appropriate diet she needs.

Made for Meat Lovers
If there's one thing cats crave, it's the rich taste of pure meat. It makes sense, because they're obligate carnivores. Your four-legged friend probably lets you know exactly what she likes, and it's sure to be fish, poultry or meat. Fussie Cat has farm-raised poultry, ocean fish from the South Pacific, and a whole range of interesting seafood options like Threadfin Bream, smoked tuna, mussels, clams and anchovies.
Physiologically Correct Diets
Knowing that cats need meat protein to survive, Fussie Cat developed formulas that they call Physiologically Correct. As true carnivores, their bodies are extremely efficient in processing meat, so 20% of their diet should come from animal proteins. Fussie Cat's foods start with meat, are low in carbs and include a complete spectrum of essential vitamins and minerals. You can be sure your kitty's getting all the necessary amino acids, protein and other nutrients.

Kitty's Choice
With two canned food lines and several tempting dry food options, your cat can always have the dinner she prefers. Fussie Cat Premium is a tuna-based menu that pairs this popular fish with chicken or seafood delicacies. Super Premium is made for chicken lovers with boneless chicken, low sodium levels and plenty of omegas. Market Fresh dry foods are crunchy and delicious, with proteins full of vitamin B12, and antioxidant-rich cranberries and blueberries.
Outstanding Quality Control
Fussie Cat makes their top-quality foods in an FDA-registered kitchen—the same kitchen that produces canned food that's fit for people to eat. Thorough quality inspections are conducted daily for food safety, heavy metals, pathogens, contamination and pesticides, so the end product is everything that you should expect it to be.

About Fussie Cat
Fussie Cat uses a carnivore-friendly, meat-first philosophy to provide wholesome meals that are full of the animal proteins your cat needs to thrive. Meat is always the main course, and carbohydrates only appear in limited amounts. They've created recipes that not only pass the strictest international food safety tests, but also kitty taste tests with flying colors. Cats from all corners of the U.S. will find all their favorites in Fussie Cat's Market Fresh dry foods and flavorful wet foods.

Did not appeal to my fussy cat
By Nightfall on Jan 5, 2021
One out of three cats in my household liked this food. My super-picky Siamese wouldn’t even touch it - he sniffed it, turned around and did that super annoying back paw kicking as if to bury the offending item. One of my pair of rescues refused it for a few days and only begrudgingly ate some, but his chubby brother had no problems eating his serving, his brother’s serving AND my Siamese’s serving all at once. He does not need any extra calories or gourmet foods. He will eat almost anything. I was disappointed because of the high reviews and the overall appearance and smell of the food. I was pretty confident they’d like it, but nope. It’s a cat thing. It still is high quality food, and One out of three cats in my household liked this food. TOP RATED CAT FOOD
By TKGNEISS on Jan 3, 2021
My cats, all 3 really enjoy this Fussie Cat Tuna & Salmon. What I like is the nutrition and never having to throw it out. The size is just the right portion for my cats. No leftovers but they are full. This Fussie Cat Canned Food isn't loaded with fillers or water. The food has to be blended (mixed up) with the gelation. This gelation used is very good for their bones, lot better than water. I've tried other Fussie Cat Wet foods and they liked "most". Yes, it is a little bit costly, however, one can feeds all three and they are filled up after done eating. I do not give this everyday but occasionally. I really hope the Fussie Cat company does not change the recipe or portion size. ITS A GOOD My cats, all 3 really enjoy this Fussie Cat Tuna & Salmon. The only canned food she'll eat
By FussyCatMom on Jan 19, 2021
Our cat is extremely fussy. When she came to us, she had been eating boiled turkey only. I tried many, many canned foods. After scratching the floor to all, she finally found one she loves. The Premium Tuna with Salmon in Aspic is a winner. The bowl is empty. Yay!

Great Food for my Kitties!
By Carlacat on Dec 26, 2020
This is a wonderful food altho a bit on the pricey side so I also buy other foods for my precious kitties while on a fixed budget at the moment. They both love this brand especially the ocean fish choice as well as the salmon flavor. I will always watch for specials thru Chewy.com on Fussie Cat

Even my cat who doesn't like wet food LOVED this...
By Murphysmom on Oct 31, 2020
So my 12 year old cat has had two UTIs in the past year which led me to try once again to switch her to wet food. She loves dry food and won't touch canned food unlike our other cat. So I've been going through different brands from our local pet store to find something she'll eat before buying 12 at a time from Chewy. Some she would sniff then walk away, a couple she would start eating, but as soon as I put down dry food she would leave the wet for dry. This morning (that's how good it is, I immediately came to see if Chewy carried it) she licked the bowl clean and did not leave it even after I put down her dry food. I am so happy to have found some canned food that she will eat before the other So my 12 year old cat has had two UTIs in the past year which led me to try once again to switch her to wet food. Now to see if she'll eat other flavors of it as well. … more

will not eat. something wrong with this batch???
By KaDP on Nov 17, 2020
I have purchased this flavor before the my cat loved it. This particular batch seems to be different. She smells it and runs. She does eat tuna with chicken liver and other flavors with tuna so I'm not sure if this particular batch is of issue. I have donated to folks in need and hope that it's just my cat being fussie...... I have an order in now for tuna with mussels and tuna in chicken. She does like those, at least the batches I have now.

My picky cat loves this!
By CarolB on Nov 29, 2020
My cat has an undiagnosed medical condition and is very picky with what he eats. We were introduced to Fussie Cat and he absolutely loves it! If he didn't eat 6 to 8 cans of food a day (no dry food), I would love to feed this to him all day. It is just too expensive for us to use as his primary diet.

I can always count on Chewy
By kathyinaustin on Oct 11, 2020
It can be hard sometimes to find the cat food I want for my kitties. There are stores about 30 minutes drive from me that may have the food, both wet and dry, but often they are out of either the wet or dry that I need. Having five rescue kitties, two of them very fussy cats, I have to depend on being able to get all that I need. I can almost always find it at Chewy.com and delivery is wonderfully fast.
