Transition Instructions

While it’s perfectly safe to stop feeding your cat’s previous food one day and introduce Fussie Cat the next, we recommend a gradual transition to Fussie Cat for up to 2 weeks. This is especially true if your cat has been previously fed a high grain, corn, wheat or soy diet. Start by introducing a small amount of Fussie Cat, increasing it daily while decreasing the previous food by the same amount. This will help avoid upset stomachs as it makes it easier for your pet’s digestive system to acclimate.

FAQ

What sets Fussie Cat apart from other pet foods?

Fussie Cat recipes are based on our Meat First philosophy. Meat or fish is always the main ingredient. As cats are obligate carnivores, nothing but a Meat First recipe will provide complete, Physiologically Tuned™ nutrition for your pet.

Why is real meat as the first ingredient so important?

All Fussie Cat recipes are based on our Meat First™ philosophy because cats are obligate carnivores. They require high amounts of protein to thrive, and lack the digestive enzymes to properly break down and combine incomplete plant proteins. This means they must have high-quality animal protein for optimal health.

Should Fussie Cat canned foods be refrigerated after opening?

Yes. Any unused portion must be refrigerated in a sealed container. Consider a plastic container with a tight-fitting lid. In addition, we recommend using each meal completely within 4 days of opening it. If your cat doesn’t care for cold food, let it sit at room temperature for around 30 minutes, or microwave it for 10 seconds (in a microwave safe dish, not the can), prior to feeding.

How do I read the dates on cans of Fussie Cat?

To help ensure you’re getting the freshest food for your cat, we provide both a “Production Date” and an “Expiration Date” on our packaging, located on the bottom of the can. It will read: “PRO MM/DD/YYYY, and EXP MM/DD/YYYY.” Never feed our pet food or any other brand to your cat past the expiration date.

What is the shelf life of Fussie Cat food?

Our recipes are vacuum sealed in our kitchen to give them a shelf life of 3 years. As with any pet food, never feed our meals to your pet past the expiration date, which is clearly marked on the bottom of the can.

Fussie Cat may be healthy, but will my cat like it?

The healthiest recipe in the world is useless if your cat won’t eat it. Conversely, the most delicious recipe falls short if it doesn’t provide the nutrition your cat’s biology demands. That’s why our recipes are all “Co-Created by Cats.™” We start with the Meat First™ ingredients your cat needs to thrive, then we taste test our meals with actual pets to create meals that are as delicious as they are nutritious.

Can I feed my cat dog food, or vice versa?

No. Despite what you may have heard, cats and dogs have unique nutritional needs and should be fed meals designed specifically for their needs. Health problems may occur from not feeding your pet a complete and balanced, species appropriate diet. Check the AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials) statement, or on the product packaging to determine if that recipe is appropriate for your pet’s nutritional requirements.

Is Fussie Cat easy to rotate between flavors with my sensitive feline?

Because Fussie Cat® products are formulated to have similar nutrient profiles it is a great rotational diet. If your cat is sensitive to a certain recipe we recommend that you try another.

How do I know Fussie Cat provides my pet with quality nutrition?

All Fussie Cat foods are made in an FDA-approved kitchen that also produces human-grade foods. We regularly inspect everything from the manufacturing process to the raw ingredients that go in our foods so you can rest assured your cat’s meals are prepared under the strictest guidelines for quality control that meets international standards.

Do you perform any invasive animal testing in developing your products?

No, and we never will. Our company was founded on the basis of providing delicious, nutritionally correct, value conscious meals for your cat. To fine-tune our recipes, we conduct trials where our food is fed to pets. This is done in a comfortable, stress-free environment for the animals.

What is AAFCO and is Fussie Cat AAFCO approved?

AAFCO stands for Association of American Feed Control Officials. All Fussie Cat recipes are formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO for all life stages of your pet. This certifies that Fussie Cat is a nutritionally complete product that can be fed to your pet as its sole ration without adding any other substance except water. For more information on AAFCO regulations, visit aafco.org.

Co-Created by Cats

Instead of just assuming what kind of food cats will like, Fussie Cat lets them call the shots. Each recipe is co-created and taste-tested by cats to make sure your own kitty will love it. Aside from being highly palatable, Fussie Cat wet and dry foods are full of quality meats like boneless chicken, duck, tuna, shrimp and prawns to make sure your little carnivore is getting the protein-rich, feline-appropriate diet she needs.

Made for Meat Lovers

Made for Meat Lovers

If there's one thing cats crave, it's the rich taste of pure meat. It makes sense, because they're obligate carnivores. Your four-legged friend probably lets you know exactly what she likes, and it's sure to be fish, poultry or meat. Fussie Cat has farm-raised poultry, ocean fish from the South Pacific, and a whole range of interesting seafood options like Threadfin Bream, smoked tuna, mussels, clams and anchovies.

Physiologically Correct Diets

Knowing that cats need meat protein to survive, Fussie Cat developed formulas that they call Physiologically Correct. As true carnivores, their bodies are extremely efficient in processing meat, so 20% of their diet should come from animal proteins. Fussie Cat's foods start with meat, are low in carbs and include a complete spectrum of essential vitamins and minerals. You can be sure your kitty's getting all the necessary amino acids, protein and other nutrients.

Kitty's Choice

Kitty's Choice

With two canned food lines and several tempting dry food options, your cat can always have the dinner she prefers. Fussie Cat Premium is a tuna-based menu that pairs this popular fish with chicken or seafood delicacies. Super Premium is made for chicken lovers with boneless chicken, low sodium levels and plenty of omegas. Market Fresh dry foods are crunchy and delicious, with proteins full of vitamin B12, and antioxidant-rich cranberries and blueberries.

Outstanding Quality Control

Fussie Cat makes their top-quality foods in an FDA-registered kitchen—the same kitchen that produces canned food that's fit for people to eat. Thorough quality inspections are conducted daily for food safety, heavy metals, pathogens, contamination and pesticides, so the end product is everything that you should expect it to be.

    Fussie Cat food

By MsNanaKitty on Jun 29, 2021

Yes I highly recommend Fussie Cat food for your Kitties. There are a good many Diabetic cats out there, and Ms Nana Kitty is one of them. Nana is now approximately 13 years of age and has been eating Fussie Cat food for three years now. When she was diagnosed with diabetes the Veternarian recommended food that has high protein which took me a good year to find in the Wet food area. At that time most companies were not making the wet food at a high protein level, times have changed and they are doing better now. Anyhow my Vet recommended this brand and Ms Nana likes it so that's half the battle. I was not able to consider medicine for her as the cost is just too high but the change Yes I highly recommend Fussie Cat food for your Kitties. Good quantity, kitties loved

By youngfattyshorty on Jun 16, 2021

Pleased to say this one is a hit with the cat family as well. I've noticed there are typically 5 - 6 small mussels in each can. Really great quantity for the price, and more than the anchovy flavour can (about 3 - 5 anchovies per can). Expensive but worth it - cats stay fuller and less food wastage. Only wish they had this size for all the flavours.

Fussie Cat for a FUSSY Feline

By Fussiecatmom on Mar 30, 2021

I have a 14 y/o Russian Blue. He has had Nephrolithiasis since he was 3 y/o. At that time there were not many choices for food outside of the veterinarian's office & it was very expensive. But we do what is necessary for our babies. In 2011, I moved to Shelby, NC & found a locally owned pet store that catered to pets with health issues. Fred, the owner, was so helpful and introduced me to several foods that were in compliance with what I was buying from the veterinarian. Fussie Cat was one of the products. I was so happy!!!! Fussie Cat had wet and dry food in several flavors which was a huge plus. He is still fussy and it is hard to get him to eat but Fussie Cat helps. I only wish I I have a 14 y/o Russian Blue. I only wish I could buy a case of individual flavors when ordering like I can at the pet store. My baby is so picky and gets tired of the same flavor every day. Even the few variety packs are not versatile enough, but we make do. I am no longer near a pet store that carries Fussie Cat so I am grateful that I can order what I need from Chewy.com. … more

    Liked but not loved

By OneOfMyCatsFaves on Sep 12, 2020

My Bengals used to love this formula..Now I have to heavily rotate canned varieties for them to love it. I have found that in switching out turkey, duck, then this, chicken, beef, then this, has been successful. They love options! :p

My cats love this stuff. Proper aspic and the food is in chunks. Think human chunk tuna.

    Fussy cats love it

By Cyndi on Feb 28, 2020

Always pleased by the smell of fussie cat. Not that I want to eat it, but I know I could, and that’s not something I can say about any other brand. I have one old man kitty with health problems and one young spoiled ( by me) kitty who will take one sniff and walk away from some flavors.

    Fussie cat

By JsMeme on Jul 4, 2019

My cat is true to this title. She’s super fussy! She actually loves this food. We have tried lots of the flavors and she will not eat the chicken ones. The only reason for the 4 stars is that she seems to have some skin problems since switching from Weruva. It could be a coincidence though.
