The amount of food your cat needs to be nourished daily depends on their activity levels and their stage of life. Generally, the more active they are (like adventurous outdoor cats) the more they’ll need to eat. Please consult your veterinarian for the best feeding regimen for your cat.
While it’s perfectly safe to stop feeding your cat’s previous food one day and introduce Fussie Cat the next, we recommend a gradual transition to Fussie Cat for up to 2 weeks. This is especially true if your cat has been previously fed a high grain, corn, wheat or soy diet. Start by introducing a small amount of Fussie Cat, increasing it daily while decreasing the previous food by the same amount. This will help avoid upset stomachs as it makes it easier for your pet’s digestive system to acclimate.
What sets Fussie Cat apart from other pet foods?
Fussie Cat recipes are based on our Meat First philosophy. Meat or fish is always the main ingredient. As cats are obligate carnivores, nothing but a Meat First recipe will provide complete, Physiologically Tuned™ nutrition for your pet.
Why is real meat as the first ingredient so important?
All Fussie Cat recipes are based on our Meat First™ philosophy because cats are obligate carnivores. They require high amounts of protein to thrive, and lack the digestive enzymes to properly break down and combine incomplete plant proteins. This means they must have high-quality animal protein for optimal health.
Should Fussie Cat canned foods be refrigerated after opening?
Yes. Any unused portion must be refrigerated in a sealed container. Consider a plastic container with a tight-fitting lid. In addition, we recommend using each meal completely within 4 days of opening it. If your cat doesn’t care for cold food, let it sit at room temperature for around 30 minutes, or microwave it for 10 seconds (in a microwave safe dish, not the can), prior to feeding.
How do I read the dates on cans of Fussie Cat?
To help ensure you’re getting the freshest food for your cat, we provide both a “Production Date” and an “Expiration Date” on our packaging, located on the bottom of the can. It will read: “PRO MM/DD/YYYY, and EXP MM/DD/YYYY.” Never feed our pet food or any other brand to your cat past the expiration date.
What is the shelf life of Fussie Cat food?
Our recipes are vacuum sealed in our kitchen to give them a shelf life of 3 years. As with any pet food, never feed our meals to your pet past the expiration date, which is clearly marked on the bottom of the can.
Fussie Cat may be healthy, but will my cat like it?
The healthiest recipe in the world is useless if your cat won’t eat it. Conversely, the most delicious recipe falls short if it doesn’t provide the nutrition your cat’s biology demands. That’s why our recipes are all “Co-Created by Cats.™” We start with the Meat First™ ingredients your cat needs to thrive, then we taste test our meals with actual pets to create meals that are as delicious as they are nutritious.
Can I feed my cat dog food, or vice versa?
No. Despite what you may have heard, cats and dogs have unique nutritional needs and should be fed meals designed specifically for their needs. Health problems may occur from not feeding your pet a complete and balanced, species appropriate diet. Check the AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials) statement, or on the product packaging to determine if that recipe is appropriate for your pet’s nutritional requirements.
Is Fussie Cat easy to rotate between flavors with my sensitive feline?
Because Fussie Cat® products are formulated to have similar nutrient profiles it is a great rotational diet. If your cat is sensitive to a certain recipe we recommend that you try another.
How do I know Fussie Cat provides my pet with quality nutrition?
All Fussie Cat foods are made in an FDA-approved kitchen that also produces human-grade foods. We regularly inspect everything from the manufacturing process to the raw ingredients that go in our foods so you can rest assured your cat’s meals are prepared under the strictest guidelines for quality control that meets international standards.
Do you perform any invasive animal testing in developing your products?
No, and we never will. Our company was founded on the basis of providing delicious, nutritionally correct, value conscious meals for your cat. To fine-tune our recipes, we conduct trials where our food is fed to pets. This is done in a comfortable, stress-free environment for the animals.
What is AAFCO and is Fussie Cat AAFCO approved?
AAFCO stands for Association of American Feed Control Officials. All Fussie Cat recipes are formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO for all life stages of your pet. This certifies that Fussie Cat is a nutritionally complete product that can be fed to your pet as its sole ration without adding any other substance except water. For more information on AAFCO regulations, visit aafco.org.

Co-Created by Cats
Instead of just assuming what kind of food cats will like, Fussie Cat lets them call the shots. Each recipe is co-created and taste-tested by cats to make sure your own kitty will love it. Aside from being highly palatable, Fussie Cat wet and dry foods are full of quality meats like boneless chicken, duck, tuna, shrimp and prawns to make sure your little carnivore is getting the protein-rich, feline-appropriate diet she needs.

Made for Meat Lovers
If there's one thing cats crave, it's the rich taste of pure meat. It makes sense, because they're obligate carnivores. Your four-legged friend probably lets you know exactly what she likes, and it's sure to be fish, poultry or meat. Fussie Cat has farm-raised poultry, ocean fish from the South Pacific, and a whole range of interesting seafood options like Threadfin Bream, smoked tuna, mussels, clams and anchovies.
Physiologically Correct Diets
Knowing that cats need meat protein to survive, Fussie Cat developed formulas that they call Physiologically Correct. As true carnivores, their bodies are extremely efficient in processing meat, so 20% of their diet should come from animal proteins. Fussie Cat's foods start with meat, are low in carbs and include a complete spectrum of essential vitamins and minerals. You can be sure your kitty's getting all the necessary amino acids, protein and other nutrients.

Kitty's Choice
With two canned food lines and several tempting dry food options, your cat can always have the dinner she prefers. Fussie Cat Premium is a tuna-based menu that pairs this popular fish with chicken or seafood delicacies. Super Premium is made for chicken lovers with boneless chicken, low sodium levels and plenty of omegas. Market Fresh dry foods are crunchy and delicious, with proteins full of vitamin B12, and antioxidant-rich cranberries and blueberries.
Outstanding Quality Control
Fussie Cat makes their top-quality foods in an FDA-registered kitchen—the same kitchen that produces canned food that's fit for people to eat. Thorough quality inspections are conducted daily for food safety, heavy metals, pathogens, contamination and pesticides, so the end product is everything that you should expect it to be.

About Fussie Cat
Fussie Cat uses a carnivore-friendly, meat-first philosophy to provide wholesome meals that are full of the animal proteins your cat needs to thrive. Meat is always the main course, and carbohydrates only appear in limited amounts. They've created recipes that not only pass the strictest international food safety tests, but also kitty taste tests with flying colors. Cats from all corners of the U.S. will find all their favorites in Fussie Cat's Market Fresh dry foods and flavorful wet foods.

My cats love it!
By Klani on Jan 12, 2021
I finally found a food that my cats eat & clean their bowls. I have 2 kittens about 7 months old that became very picky about canned food. They love this and clean their bowls every time. I split a can between them so I'm not overfeeding and they eat every bite. They eat dry kibble as well so this is not their only food.

Not for my fussy cats
By squeaker on Jan 4, 2021
My cats would NOT touch the stuff. I read so many reviews about other cats but my cats wouldn't even sniff it, let alone eat it. I tried twice, to no avail. Don't know what to do with the rest of the cans so I guess I will donate it to the shelter. So sad

My cat is fussie to get this food
By ebscl4 on Oct 28, 2020
I've tried so many wet foods for my cat and they all just sit there in a bowl being stinky and ignored. I was just giving her kibble for a while until she had surgery and I wanted to give her wet food while she was healing. Now she is obsessed with this food and yells at me incessantly until I put some in her bowl twice a day.

An absolute hit in my household
By Eggs on Dec 11, 2020
This is the first can of cat food that all 4 cats love, love, love! Two of my cats are usually so picky – but not with this can. They wait for it with licking lips

Excellent food
By Tilly on Oct 21, 2020
My kitty, 15yo, absolutely loves it. She is friskier and looks more alert since she started eating it. She is definitely a foodie and loves Fussie Cat. This food actually smells good to humans too!

Finally I can stop wasting money on untouched bowls of cat food.
By Pickyeatercured on Aug 22, 2020
You were my last hope. I have tried every brand of cat food only to throw it away cause it was left untouched. At times she even scratched all around her bowl just to let me know what she thought of it. Even expensive brands were treated just like her litter box and of course the bowl remained untouched. Not with Fussie Cat every bowl is licked clean and now in the mornings she is there waiting by her bowl. No more wasted money. Thank you Fussie Cat.

Excellent quality for picky cat
By ALynn on Jul 25, 2020
My senior cat with CKD and hyperthyroidism stopped eating. After weeks of struggling to find something to entice her, we flat out gave up on K/D food. I searched for foods that my poor old girl would actually eat (other than kitten food for the kittens we recently added). I found Fussie Cat. She actually eats this, and enjoys it. No, it’s not prescription food. Yes, it’s an acceptable alternative that my old girl tolerates. She’s eating again, and I can add a CKD supplement to her food.

My Cats LOVE this
By IttyBittyKitty on Sep 8, 2020
I have 5 cats and they all love the Fussie Cat formulas in Aspic! The tuna with chicken is their favorite so I make sure I never run out of it. That's why I use Chewy to help keep my supply up!

Quality is slipping
By Oceanlover on Jul 8, 2020
My senior cats have been eating fussie cat for years. But as other reviewers have mentioned, the quality seems to be slipping. Cans now contain dark chunks of something (tuna?) mixed in with the food. My cats won’t eat the dark pieces and will walk away from the dish unless I pick them out. But more chunks have been in recent cans. Something is wrong with the food and I’m trying to transition my cats to something else.

Wish this came in a variety pack
By Sanadana on Jun 23, 2020
I purchased a variety of these cans in my local pet store and my cats loved it. I purchased this online via Chewy and my cats are okay with it but not everyday. In my local pet store, I purchase several varieties of Fussie Cat so it when I went to feed my brood, they were very anxious to see what they got that day. Variety is key to keeping these guys happy. I wish I could purchase a pack online that had a variety. If I keep feeding them the same thing everyday, they won't eat it. Cats are worse than small children.
