Feeding Instructions

Kittens: Feed up to twice the Adult amount daily Adult Cats: 1 can daily for 4 lbs of body weight Pregnant Cats: Feed 1.25 can daily per 4 lbs of body weight Lactating Cats: 3 can daily per 4 lbs of body weight Fresh water should be available at all times.

Transition Instructions

While it’s perfectly safe to stop feeding your cat’s previous food one day and introduce Fussie Cat the next, we recommend a gradual transition to Fussie Cat for up to 2 weeks. This is especially true if your cat has been previously fed a high grain, corn, wheat or soy diet. Start by introducing a small amount of Fussie Cat, increasing it daily while decreasing the previous food by the same amount. This will help avoid upset stomachs as it makes it easier for your pet’s digestive system to acclimate.

FAQ

What sets Fussie Cat apart from other pet foods?

Fussie Cat recipes are based on our Meat First philosophy. Meat or fish is always the main ingredient. As cats are obligate carnivores, nothing but a Meat First recipe will provide complete, Physiologically Tuned™ nutrition for your pet.

Why is real meat as the first ingredient so important?

All Fussie Cat recipes are based on our Meat First™ philosophy because cats are obligate carnivores. They require high amounts of protein to thrive, and lack the digestive enzymes to properly break down and combine incomplete plant proteins. This means they must have high-quality animal protein for optimal health.

Should Fussie Cat canned foods be refrigerated after opening?

Yes. Any unused portion must be refrigerated in a sealed container. Consider a plastic container with a tight-fitting lid. In addition, we recommend using each meal completely within 4 days of opening it. If your cat doesn’t care for cold food, let it sit at room temperature for around 30 minutes, or microwave it for 10 seconds (in a microwave safe dish, not the can), prior to feeding.

How do I read the dates on cans of Fussie Cat?

To help ensure you’re getting the freshest food for your cat, we provide both a “Production Date” and an “Expiration Date” on our packaging, located on the bottom of the can. It will read: “PRO MM/DD/YYYY, and EXP MM/DD/YYYY.” Never feed our pet food or any other brand to your cat past the expiration date.

What is the shelf life of Fussie Cat food?

Our recipes are vacuum sealed in our kitchen to give them a shelf life of 3 years. As with any pet food, never feed our meals to your pet past the expiration date, which is clearly marked on the bottom of the can.

Fussie Cat may be healthy, but will my cat like it?

The healthiest recipe in the world is useless if your cat won’t eat it. Conversely, the most delicious recipe falls short if it doesn’t provide the nutrition your cat’s biology demands. That’s why our recipes are all “Co-Created by Cats.™” We start with the Meat First™ ingredients your cat needs to thrive, then we taste test our meals with actual pets to create meals that are as delicious as they are nutritious.

Can I feed my cat dog food, or vice versa?

No. Despite what you may have heard, cats and dogs have unique nutritional needs and should be fed meals designed specifically for their needs. Health problems may occur from not feeding your pet a complete and balanced, species appropriate diet. Check the AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials) statement, or on the product packaging to determine if that recipe is appropriate for your pet’s nutritional requirements.

Is Fussie Cat easy to rotate between flavors with my sensitive feline?

Because Fussie Cat® products are formulated to have similar nutrient profiles it is a great rotational diet. If your cat is sensitive to a certain recipe we recommend that you try another.

How do I know Fussie Cat provides my pet with quality nutrition?

All Fussie Cat foods are made in an FDA-approved kitchen that also produces human-grade foods. We regularly inspect everything from the manufacturing process to the raw ingredients that go in our foods so you can rest assured your cat’s meals are prepared under the strictest guidelines for quality control that meets international standards.

Do you perform any invasive animal testing in developing your products?

No, and we never will. Our company was founded on the basis of providing delicious, nutritionally correct, value conscious meals for your cat. To fine-tune our recipes, we conduct trials where our food is fed to pets. This is done in a comfortable, stress-free environment for the animals.

What is AAFCO and is Fussie Cat AAFCO approved?

AAFCO stands for Association of American Feed Control Officials. All Fussie Cat recipes are formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO for all life stages of your pet. This certifies that Fussie Cat is a nutritionally complete product that can be fed to your pet as its sole ration without adding any other substance except water. For more information on AAFCO regulations, visit aafco.org.

Co-Created by Cats

Instead of just assuming what kind of food cats will like, Fussie Cat lets them call the shots. Each recipe is co-created and taste-tested by cats to make sure your own kitty will love it. Aside from being highly palatable, Fussie Cat wet and dry foods are full of quality meats like boneless chicken, duck, tuna, shrimp and prawns to make sure your little carnivore is getting the protein-rich, feline-appropriate diet she needs.

Made for Meat Lovers

Made for Meat Lovers

If there's one thing cats crave, it's the rich taste of pure meat. It makes sense, because they're obligate carnivores. Your four-legged friend probably lets you know exactly what she likes, and it's sure to be fish, poultry or meat. Fussie Cat has farm-raised poultry, ocean fish from the South Pacific, and a whole range of interesting seafood options like Threadfin Bream, smoked tuna, mussels, clams and anchovies.

Physiologically Correct Diets

Knowing that cats need meat protein to survive, Fussie Cat developed formulas that they call Physiologically Correct. As true carnivores, their bodies are extremely efficient in processing meat, so 20% of their diet should come from animal proteins. Fussie Cat's foods start with meat, are low in carbs and include a complete spectrum of essential vitamins and minerals. You can be sure your kitty's getting all the necessary amino acids, protein and other nutrients.

Kitty's Choice

Kitty's Choice

With two canned food lines and several tempting dry food options, your cat can always have the dinner she prefers. Fussie Cat Premium is a tuna-based menu that pairs this popular fish with chicken or seafood delicacies. Super Premium is made for chicken lovers with boneless chicken, low sodium levels and plenty of omegas. Market Fresh dry foods are crunchy and delicious, with proteins full of vitamin B12, and antioxidant-rich cranberries and blueberries.

Outstanding Quality Control

Fussie Cat makes their top-quality foods in an FDA-registered kitchen—the same kitchen that produces canned food that's fit for people to eat. Thorough quality inspections are conducted daily for food safety, heavy metals, pathogens, contamination and pesticides, so the end product is everything that you should expect it to be.

Fussie Cat can food for cats

    By on

I believe this is fairly new products. My 5 cats really like them. I would like to purchase a variety pack with different flavors, say, 2 can each x 12 kinds to try out instead of buying 1 flavor/24. A local reseller only carries 4 types and and they do not seem to relay my request. And more than that, I would like to see the public test result of quality & heath information based on the facts. I really worry about the quality after many years of blindly believed one brand (RC) to be a good company and realized they do not conduct any tests by other parties - along with the fact couple of my cats vomited frequently & I was feeding them a lot of "good" dry foods for years. By the way I see quite a few of white bones in the can food -some are very sharp. Are they safe, them being cats - ? I should be writing this to the manufacturer instead of Chewy but Chewy is my store for most of my cats supplies. Thanks for the great service. … more

    Fussie Cat Aspic Varieties

    By on

My kitty loves aspic. She is 17 years old and has been eating Fussie Cat (and BFF) for the last year. She's lost 4 pounds which she needed. She is active again! Holy Toledo! This food smells so good, I'd eat it. And it is grain free...very healthy stuff!!!!

    Aspic not a hit

    By on

My fussy older cat liked it the first time and then refused to eat it. When you open the can it is a solid mass held together by gelatin. I had to break it up for her even on the first feeding. Now I have a case minus two cans I am going to donate to the SPCA. (My other cat, half the age, refused to eat even the broken up bits! Both have a clean bill of health from the vet.)

    Great for Diabetic cats

    By on

My cat loved this food even before she developed diabetes. I wish it was sold in a variety pack because she does get bored with the same thing day in and day out.

Not at all recommended; way, way too dry

    By on

My cat is not picky, but she does need carb-free food, so I've been buying her Fussie Cat. She usually likes it very much, but lately hasn't liked the tuna-salmon, so she doesn't finish it or barely eats it. It's also gotten very dry. This Threadfin Bream is similar, unfortunately. It was super dry straight out of the can even though it apparently has aspic, and adding water didn't keep her from choking on it and vomiting. I guess it's back to the tuna-ocean fish version for her. I hope that one hasn't gotten too dry!!

My 3 cats will not eat this!

    By on Top 250 Contributor

My cats have always liked Fussie Cat foods so I thought I would try the new one, Tuna with Threadfin Bream. They ate a few bites and quit eating it. So I waited a few days and tried it again, this time they wouldn't touch it so I guess that's the end of that one. I'm sure it's good quality because Fussie Cat is a good food, must be the threadfin bream that they don't like. I gave it a 5 star because nothing wrong with the quality, my cats just didn't like it and refused to tell me why, just gave me the look that says, do we really have to eat that?

Best response for canned cat food ever!

    By on Top 250 Contributor

I was very hesitant to try this brand that I had never heard of, but my cats were rejecting everything I put in front of them as far as canned food. I especially needed canned food for my 13 year old Russian Blue to get medicine in to him. I'm on my 5th can ( the cans are small, but the food stays much fresher this way), and all four cats love love love this food! ( Even my newest feral cat who you would think would not be picky at all!) Great ingredients. Great price. I will order again.
