Doesn’t fit 40lbs of food
I needed another storage bin for my second dog. Both dogs eat different food and I hate the bag just sitting on the floor. This does not fit a 40lb bag of food though. No matter how you try, there will still be food left over to sit on the floor in the bag. Very frustrating especially because these containers aren’t cheap. Buy the size up if you need 40+lbs because this one won’t cut it.

This was my first order with Chewey.com and here is my story! My Daughter has been a long time loyal customer of Chewey and absolutely cannot stop bragging about their awesome Customer Service, great products and guick shipping! I was visiting her and saw the 2 heavy duty food containers called Vaults, they have an airtight lid that looks sort of like a Bank Vault door wheel, well to make a longer review short, I ordered 2 60# ones and received them very soon after and was very pleased! Thank you Chewey, another loyal Customer!
doesn’t fit 40lb food bag
Unfortunate that they changed the design so the stackable 40lb vault I purchased last year isn’t compatible to stack with this one. It wobbles when stacked. Also doesn’t fit Purina one 40lb bag of dog food so not sure what to do with the other 12lbs of food I have left now. Frustrating!
Will last a lifetime, but bring your own scoop.
Love this container. Calling it a vault is right! Very high quality and appears indestructible. Closes tight and there is no way my dog could break into this thing!! Holds a ton of food but somehow takes up very little space in my pantry. The only reason I am not giving five stars is that it was supposed to come with a scooper but it was missing. Ended up having to purchase a scoop separately. If you are on the fence, just do it. This will last a lifetime.
Perfect for neat storage.
I read other reviews that said the 40lb size doesn’t hold a whole bag of food, but I just poured a 35lb bag of food into it along with a smaller bag of food (5-10lbs I think) I had just bought two days prior to hold us over while the 35lb order arrived, and it all fit. You do have to turn the container over so that it stands with the cylindrical side on the top while putting the food in, but it still fits without spilling out when we rotated it back to the stackable position. Great solution to keep food fresh and sealed away from ants which has been a problem on and off in Florida. It’s also a much more aesthetic way to store food than leaving it in the bag, and we put a plant on top of hours so it’s pretty inconspicuous. Hope that helps!
Does not hold 40lbs of food
I just purchased this food container along with a 34-lb bag of Purina Pro Plan Dry Puppy Food and can confirm that only ~32-lbs of food fit. I tried tipping it up on one side, shaking it to get the food in all of the nooks and crannies, but still couldn't quite get the full 34-lbs of food to fit. Not a deal breaker but it would be nice if products just worked as advertised!

They fit exactly as needed for my dogs who have 2 different diets It took a minute to figure out the bottom lid because when the 2 containers are stacked and really full it changes the shape of the mouth a bit on the bottom container. It was really frustrating at first. I figured it out, though: Once they are both less full and if you push the lid on a bit first it becomes easy. Nothing that should make you not keep or use these. Filled each with roughly 55 Ibs of Kibble with no other issues. Really help with what we needed and nice, small footprint!
These are great!
My cats used to tip over the tall bins, and I'd have dry food all over the floor and sick cats. These are impossible to tip, and the animals cannot lift the lid to steal food. They are wonderful!
To Stop Break Ins
The food container I was using was constantly under siege by possums or raccoons. This container was recommended by a friend who also has the same issue. I feel the food will be protected and will remain fresher with the screw on top.
Good product but.
It said it would hold 40 pounds of dog food but I could not fit the entire 40 pound bag into it. If you normally buy 40 pound bags, get the 50 pound container. Other than that it is a very good product.
