We recommend thoroughly washing and drying your Vittles Vault container regularly. Over time, oils absorb into the plastic, which can cause food to become rancid. When that happens, your furry friend won't want to eat it.

Yes, our containers are made from food-grade, BPA-free (and BPS-free) plastic. Our containers are safe for both people and pet food!
We are committed to supporting our local economy. We proudly make our Vittles Vault pet food containers and GAMMA Seal Lids in the USA. We have two factories: one in California and one in Tennessee.
We do not recommend putting the Gamma Seal Lid in the dishwasher. Please wash this piece by hand. The containers themselves can be put in the dishwasher.
When we say pest, we mean insects such as ants (a very common problem). Rats can chew through metal if they have reason to think there is food to be had. We do not guarantee our product against mice, rats, raccoons, possums, squirrels, bears, etc. However, we do make it difficult for these pest to chew through the rounded angle corners. It's tough for them to get their mouths around these corners. We suggest that if you have a problem, place a piece of wood (13"X 13") over the top, or store the Vittles Vault upside down. Customers have also had success covering their container with a milk crate or putting a couple of drops of peppermint essential oil on the container to act as a natural repellent.
The Vittles Vault Outback Collection is ideal for outdoor storage.
We recommend thoroughly washing and drying your Vittles Vault prior to use. It is also recommended to periodically wash and dry your container. This is because the oils from the pet food can absorb into the plastic over time and become rancid. A good rule of thumb is to wash and dry your container with each new bag of food.
Try pressing on the center of the lid and then unscrewing.
While we hope you would never want to discard your Vittles Vault, you can indeed recycle it if you no longer need it.
The scoop is just a smidge over 1 cup.
To close and seal your Vittles Vault, all you have to do is spin the lid. It will close to the ideal setting. Over-tightening and forcing the lid closed beyond this point can damage the protective seal.
I was so hesitant to pull the trigger on this after reading all the reviews about how these contained did not hold as much food as they were advertised. Im really glad I found this model that opens from the top instead of the stackable version which I could see perhaps being difficult to fill to capacity. But I bought this 50lb container and my 33lb bag of dog food fits easily, I even poured the leftovers from the previous bag on top. Much more airtight than other containers Ive looked at and is easy to screw the lid on despite what other reviews have mentioned (it takes two seconds to make sure you like it up right). Im confident my pups food will stay fresh now. Would highly recommend!
I purchased this to house the cat food for my outdoor cats as the tote I was using was being burgled by the local racoons. I've had this vittles vault for a few months and every so often I would notice clumps of food that seemed to have gotten wet. I though maybe when I had it opened in a light mist maybe some of the food got wet...but I always made sure it was closed tightly just in case we had rain. I opened it this evening after it had been closed for almost 24 hours (and it rained during that time) and all of the food in it was damp and moist...there are no other holes in this. I understand it is on my porch that does not have a roof, but it was closed tightly. I do not understand how the food inside got wet. I have feeders in my front yard for my dogs that does a better job at keeping food dry than this does. Now I have to figure out something that I can use to keep my cat food dry. I would only recommend this if you are going to keep it inside!
I’ve had this almost 6 months and it’s been one of my favorite investments. I keep my dog’s food out in the garage and this keeps it fresh and free from dust, pollen, hair, and bugs especially when it’s time to blow out the garage. It holds the entirety of a 47lb dog food bag (Purina Pro Plan Puppy), so it does indeed hold about 50lbs. Definitely recommend washing and airing out before using for the first time. Put a little water in and screw the lid to make sure it’s leak proof, add dish soap, shake it up, rinse, and dry! Depending on how quickly you go through food, I recommend washing it after each time it’s filled as food residue (especially from any fat or oil) can accumulate. I only have one dog, so the 47lb bag of food lasts 3-3.5 months.
Definitely would buy this again and would recommend to friends and family. Much nicer to look at than a bag of dog food. Mine did not come with a scoop, but we ordered a separate scoop anyway. We are new dog parents so Im not sure if this is common knowledge I just missed but the 50lb container does not hold a 47 lb bag of dog food, which was one of the main reasons we purchased it. We had enough left in the dog food bag to make a few to go bags for when we go to our parents houses but we were a little disappointed in that regard.
This is the perfect dog food container. It has a small footprint (50 lb size), I can open & close it with one hand, and it keeps the critters out. This container holds a 35lb bag of Purina ProPlan pefectly with a few inches to spare. I'm planning on buying the smaller one for the cat's food.
I'm about to purchase another 50lb container. I've had two 50s, one 15, a 10, and a 25 for several years now. I've only had to replace the rubber seal on one of them. I use them for chicken feed, scratch, and oyster shell. Mine are stored outdoors under a carport. They keep ants out and keep feed fresh.
I ordered the 30lb container because I buy 31.1 lb food bags. I tried to pour the food in (knowing there may be a small amount that wouldn't fit) but there was a lot of food left in my bag after the container was already full. I returned the container and haven't tried a larger one yet, but the quality seemed really good.
Keeps dog food fresh and airtight. Bought this one for the neighbor cause he liked ours so well
This container is sturdy and large It it easy to open to take the kibbles out.
It has been a great container for my dogs food so far, but the only thing i did not like was the fact that it did not come with a scooper.
