Help your dog maintain good body condition by monitoring food intake, providing exercise and visiting your veterinarian on a regular basis. Please adjust your dog’s feeding amount using the chart as a guide. The amount will vary by age, activity level, environment and breed. Always have a clean bowl of fresh water available for your dog.
Gradually transition your pet to any new food over the course of 7-14 days to help avoid the digestive upset that abrupt changes in diet can cause. If your pet tends to be on the sensitive side, it may be best to take a little extra time. 1. Start by feeding your pet a mix of 25% new food and 75% old food for the first few days. 2. Then, increase the amount of new food to about 50% and feed that half-and-half mix for a few days. 3. Proceed to feeding 75% new food/25% old food for the next few days. 4. Complete the transition by feeding just the new food on its own.
This has been an amazing dog food, my King Shepherds love the taste and I can't believe they have so much energy. Their acting like pups again, running, playing such a transformation. I thought I'd try this product and see for myself. Well, darn if they weren't telling the truth about their foods. Still in amazement, I blended their food with their old food just like they said and raised their dish off the floor. Weeks later, Wow!! Thank you Mr Burt Ward for creating a nutritional food with a charity for animals. I couldn't believe my eyes. This is their food from now on. What makes it over the top is Mr Ward made a charity with most of the proceeds to help animals.
My husband and I have an 11-year-old miniature schnoodle named Beau. For the last few years, he had been sleeping most of the day, limping with a bad hind leg, and disinterested in play. He had started to even lose interest in food. After seeing the Gentle Giant commercials, we ordered 30 lbs. of dry Gentle Giant from chewy.com about 5 weeks ago for him to eat (instead of Science Diet), and we also began adding canned (wet) Gentle Giant to his dog food about 3 weeks ago. As he is about 12 lbs in weight, we give him 1/2 cup of dry and a heaping tablespoon of wet every day. I wish you could see the difference in Beau since being on Gentle Giant! He runs and plays with our 3 year-old miniature schnauzer. He has begun jumping up on chairs and up on our bed. He joyfully runs through the snow in the back yard. What a difference in his energy, appetite, alertness and interest in life--which we can only attribute to Gentle Giant!
I was so excited when I was told about Gentle Giants food and how it was specifically for giant breed dogs. As a Dane owner and foster I am very well aware how important it is to have a good quality food and also the medical expenses that Danes can incur. So saving money where and when I can, absolutely counts! I gave an honest effort when tying this dog food, I even purchased a second bag. I did so because I was hoping it was coincidental but unfortunately it was not. I ended up feeding the last half of it to the birds and critters in the backfield. Atlas ended up losing so much weight due to severe diarrhea throwing up, her coat was icky and she did not want to go outside to potty. She did not want to play. She literally just wanted to lay down. (Danes are definitely couch potatoes, but this was totally different.) I ended up switching her back to the original food she was on. (I am not listing the other food, because this post is not intended to promote another dog food. This is just my experience with this food in particular) I did give it to stars, because she absolutely loved the taste of it. The packaging was very colorful and fun, and I had really high hopes. Upon switching her back to her original food, her coat went back to normal. She was not itching and biting at her skin and she was not throwing up and having severe diarrhea any longer. She wanted to play and go for walks and she was back to being her silly self. She immediately started putting weight back on.
Wanted to love this food. Sounds too good to be true. Some people rave about it, but I was not that lucky. This food is reasonably priced and appears to have great ingredients at first sight, but this tore my girl up. Right away, she began having severe diarrhea (and I did transition properly), terrible very foul gas. Accompanied by a tummy ache, low energy and she became VERY itchy. I I did keep her on it for a bit of time to let her adjust and finally I couldn’t do it to her any longer. Went out and purchased Pro Plan again and within days her stool began to firm up. I ended up throwing out over half a bag. Definitely wasn’t a good choice for us. She is apparently just a Pro Plan girl.
We have a 70 lb black & tan coonhound, a 70 lb boxer fox hound mix, a mini poodle, a rat terrier, a chihuahua. They all love this food! My rat terrier will turn 15 July 1st 2023, she still runs and plays like a puppy. Our 5 dogs are very healthy and happy. I recommend Gentle Giants chicken dry food.
I've been feeding this food for about two weeks now and my dog won't eat it unless I put something else in it. I even add her fish oil to it and still she isn't interested. Literally she spits it out. Got it to help with her skin and coat but it won't work if she won't eat it.
I decided to switch my baby's food because he was having gastro issues. The first few days he was still throwing up but after getting acclimated I have seen major improvement. No more throwing up all his food right after, no more belching, or blood in his stools. I have even noticed his red skin starting to clear up. Only giving 4 starts because I've only used it the past week or so but everything good so far! Definitely recommend for sensitive stomachs and allergies. I have a Staffordshire/bull terrier mix btw
I feed my dogs raw beef bits from a farm ( it’s called awful… but includes meat/bone/organs ) but I also give kibble. I buy really good food, but noticed that none had the recommended NZ Green Muscles that are recommended by my holistic vet. ( she hates all commercial dog food , unlike mist vets whom are paid to promote kibble ) My dogs seem to like this kibble. They use kibble as a snack, as the raw diet is 16 ounces per day. I am also a dog trainer. So I use kibble for treats. All my dogs that can tolerate chicken, like this food. High quality ingredients, I really like this food. Solid bowl movements, good breath, shiny coats. If you can’t afford the raw diet or don’t like raw. This is a good food for the price. Remember, vets are PAID HEAVILY TO PROMOTE A SPECIFIC BRAND. Take their opinions with a grain of salt.
Had a problem with getting my small dog to eat and now stormy is eating without no problems. Thank goodness she isn't going to give me anymore headaches about eating.
Changed my pets food to this and she absolutely loves it I can already see the difference in her energy she is 16 years old and it seems like she has more energy now and just overall better health
