With a name like Grandma Lucy's, you'd expect a company that's family-owned and operated—one that you can trust. And that's exactly what you'll find. Since 1999, the Shook family has created pet foods of the same quality and made from the same healthy ingredients as their own food. Their main taste tester was Lucy, an 11-year-old Cocker Spaniel who had no problem turning down food she didn't like. These recipes have passed the Lucy taste test, so you know your pets are sure to love them just as much.
I’ve purchased a few of these bags from my local store (which they don’t carry anymore atm so I’m very happy Chewy has it) and they’ve always worked well for us. Recently one of my dogs has been acting weird and not wanting to eat, so I’m using this to “reset” him. He ate it quickly without any issues. I highly recommend breaking/crushing the chicken before you cook it however. Otherwise they’ll pick out the chicken and leave the rice. Although it could be a tiny bit cheaper, it gets the job done, and you can keep it stored in your kitchen cabinet so you won’t need it until your pet isn’t feeling well. Has a long shelf life too.

I bought this for the cat who has diarrhea but the dog enjoys it as a meal replacement and the cat never touched it so it didn’t go to waste
This stuff really works !

I wanted to love this, I really did. Its certainly convenient, and it was handy to have in the cabinet. When I needed it, it cooked up just like they said it would, except ... its nearly all rice. I fed it for one meal, then took a chicken breast out of the freezer that I'll boil and add to the rice for the next few days. Its a shame because the idea is a good one. At this price, that's really expensive instant rice.

Easy peasy bland diet perfect for an upset tummy. I keep it on hand so I can reach for it when I need it. Freeze-Dried so it has a good shelf life. Pup likes it.
Just What I Needed!

My usually very hungry cat recently had pancreatitis and would not eat anything--not even her favorite kibbles. Her vet recommended a bland diet of chicken and rice to help her feel better, but I have to admit that I'm a bit too busy to meal prep for both me and her! I found this Simple Replacement Chicken and Rice formula and had to try it out. It worked like a charm--she loved it!
It was very easy to prepare, although it does take a few minutes of standing time to soften the rice and chicken up. Rather than preparing the whole bag, I scooped out a single serving from the bag each time and added incremental amounts of boiling water (or no salt added chicken stock for extra flavor) until itMy usually very hungry cat recently had pancreatitis and would not eat anything--not even her favorite kibbles. Good to have if your dog or cat has an upset tummy. The pieces of chicken are a little tough if you have an older pet without teeth or issues eating,so keep that in mind. My dog liked it very much .
