Is this only good for seniors? What age is a senior dog?
Answer by ChewyJul 03, 2021
This senior dog food is made with reduced calories and fat, as compared to other Halo adult recipes, to match the decreased activity and metabolism of senior dogs, plus optimal levels of high quality protein to support lean body mass. Small dogs are considered senior citizens of the canine community when they reach 11 years of age. Their medium sized friends become seniors at 10 years of age. Their larger sized colleagues are seniors at 8 years of age. And, finally, their giant-breed counterparts are seniors at 7 years old.

Halo is manufactured where ?

My girls love Halo

We alternate w/Blue Buffalo Senior & they both love the Holistic Chicken Senior food. Our girls are rescues we adopted at 8 & 9 years old. Have been with us almost 2 years both chihuahua mixes. We also have 3 older cats we added to the family.

Senior Dog Food

Excellent; dog was reluctant at first but seems to really enjoy. Probably will continue this product now that she likes it.

My dog loves Halo!

Our nearly 10 year-old, female German Shepherd-mix was having some gastro issues and our vet determined that there was nothing going on with her. Since she never really liked her long-time dog food, we decided it was time to try a different food, especially formulated for her age. After much research, we decided on the Halo Senior Dog recipe. OMG - I've never seen her wag her tail when it's time to eat! She loves this food. She is on the wet and dry food, and so far no issues at all with her stomach. Halo gets 10 stars as far as we're concerned.

Pure chicken

My Elbie dog has chronic bronchitis and i want to keep him as healthy as possible since he is on medications. I have fed him very high-quality food, even raw. He's taking steroids and the internist said to stay away from raw so i saw this HALO on the Chewy site and thought I would try it. I was surprised when I opened the first can to see how pure it is. There truly is no filler in this can. Elbie clearly loves this new food.

Very digestible

My 11 yo border seems to be taking to this new food pretty well. No gas or runny stools and we are almost done with the first can. She gets wet food mixed with dry twice a day and I’m going to make sure her senior years are comfortable ones, so this one is a keeper!

Halo gets a halo!!

Our 4 yr old very active Maltese and our 18 yr old Coton de Tulear have been on this food mixed along with kibble and they never seem to age! The balanced diet means NO teeth issues and healthy weights, cost and skin. We’ve used Halo x 5 yrs or more. Our Vets marvel at them! PS: stop distemper vaccines once dogs hit 10 yrs, and ask for titers for ALL other vaccines before the shot (except rabies)

Food is Medicine!

I first bought this food on a natural website. My 15 year old baby girl loved it. I was so excited to find out Chewy carried it too! It is well worth every penny as it is high quality.

It’s a pate

Seems like an okay food, but my dog wouldn’t eat it. Also, it’s not clearly marked as a pate which it is.
