hence the middle level rating. The sock itself is fine but where the draw string goes through the top of the sock is a bit flimsy and tends to tear. With curious deer around, we have a more challenging environment. And the black bear went through them like paper. Of course, he also went through the steel cage around our seed feeder so that isn't a problem with these socks.

The goldfinches are abundant in our neighborhood so we go through a lot of nyjer seed. It's so much more cost effective to by the seed in bulk bags and refill the socks every month or two. The goldfinches also seem to prefer the socks over the plastic food tubes.

Poor Quality

The very small items came in a box that was too big. An envelope would bring down the ship price. Item itself was poorly stitched with holes in the seams.

Not strong enough for our finches

They are coming apart at the seams. Yes, we have voracious birds, but these need to be stronger.

I liked that these socks held less amount than most others on the market because I don't like tons of food sitting in a sock for a long period of time so it doesn't get moldy, etc. I thought these were the answer but honestly, these are more wide than long and narrow and the birds that use the socks prefer the longer narrow socks rather than shorter squatty ones like these, I've noticed. Luckily they weren't too much money. I will used them until they get too dirty or tore up by the birds, but will not repurchase.

I tried happy wings bird seed along with this hanging sock for the birds to eat out of. We live in a wooded area with a lot of birds, especially finches. I thought the sock wild bird feeder was a great solution to feed the birds without squirrels or other animals interfering and making a mess. The sock comes in a three pack and is a reasonable price. This doesn’t seem to be attracting many birds like I was expecting though. I’m not sure if they are not a fan of the seed or the sock it is hanging in. I hung the sock from a post near a tree and placed a bird house next to it. The sock holds a good amount of bird food, but after a week, hardly any seed is gone so it is hard to judge how quickly the birds are eating out of it.

Good quality mesh. The strings are knotted to keep them from tangling, but the knots are loose so it's easy to untie and hang where I want. Works well with the recommended seeds. Holds them in while they hang. Obviously for the birds to get the seeds out the mesh needs to allow the seeds to fall out when moved. So when you put the seeds in I recommend doing it outside or to put something under the bag. There is quite a bit of spillage while it's being handled. The straps are easy to untie and hang where you want. I hung two on branches and one on a birdfeeder stand hook. The bag itself is pretty light so whatever you hang it on just has to handle the weight of the seeds and birds. As of yet I have not seen any birds on them but I am in an area with the birds the seeds list on the package. So I will update later with how well it holds up to being used.
