Has Health Extension been affected by any pet food recalls?
No, our formulas have never had a single recall.
What is the difference between “chicken” meal and “chicken by-product” meal?
Chicken meal is a high quality concentrated protein source that contains muscle meat. By law it may not contain heads, feet or intestines. Chicken by-product meal contains a variety of chicken “parts” including heads, feet and intestines.
Why do you use garlic in certain formulas?
We add a trace of garlic to our canned dog food to increase palatability. While it is a member of the onion family, garlic does not contain a meaningful amount of disulfide and will not cause a dog to become ill.
Where are Health Extension foods made?
All Health Extension products are proudly made in the U.S.A.
What is the shelf life of Health Extension?
Health Extension dry foods have an expiration of 1 year from date of manufacture.

Solution-Based Nutrition
Health Extension meals use whole food ingredients carefully chosen to help support stronger bones, good immunity, healthy skin and coat, keen hearing and eyesight, and plenty of energy and stamina in your dog. They never use any by-products, gluten, wheat, corn, soy, GMOs or artificial flavors, colors or preservatives—just delicious, wholesome real foods for a taste your dog will love!
Healthy, Natural Protein
Meat sourced from American farms, along with select cuts from France, Australia and New Zealand, provides the quality protein your pup needs to thrive. These natural recipes use only free-range, cage-free chicken, turkey, meats and fish, with no antibiotics, steroids or artificial hormones—ever! You can even trace each ingredient that goes into Health Extension recipes right on their website.

American-Grown Produce
Whole food ingredients grown on American farms provide nutrition you can rely on. Health Extension uses quality carbohydrates like brown rice and oatmeal instead of high-glycemic cereal grains to better suit the metabolic and nutritional needs of canines. And they never source anything from China—not even their vitamins and minerals!

Vegetarian not vegan
By Justine on Aug 10, 2019
I didn’t realize this formula has dried eggs in it. I’m happy this food is at least vegetarian and I’ll use it to not waste it, but I don’t understand why this brand can’t use vegetables instead of eggs.

Excellent Quality
By A2CorgiMom on Feb 14, 2019
I bought this food as a healthy partial replacement for my dog's regular kibble because we are trying to decrease calories as part of her veterinarian's recommended weight loss program. The food smells fruity and delicious! Even my very picky dog #2 loves the taste of it!

Seems Good Enough
By Allen on Feb 16, 2019
While this product seems to be good and has an ingredient list that I can feel good about giving to my dog, he keeps throwing it up. He has a lot of dietary restrictions. I think it is him more than the food.

Wonderful Product!
By OxnardAndSadiesMom on Jan 5, 2019 Top 1000 Contributor
This is an excellent product and my pups go nut for it! Even my non-vegetarian pups! I have one boy with severe protein allergies and he has to eat vegetarian. This product is more expensive so I don't purchase it all the time, but it is great to have in the rotation so he can get variety in his diet. I recommend this one!

My pups love this!
By Kate on Feb 5, 2019
Had a really hard time finding a vegetarian dog food that wasn't full of fillers. First ingredients on this are real whole foods. Can't beat it and my dogs love it. Please don't stop selling this!

So disappointed
By Broke on Nov 25, 2018
Thought I had found a new vegetable alternative for my dogs based on the high recommendations they won’t touch this stuff and it’s not cheap . I wasted my money went back to nature recipe it’s less expensive and they will at least eat it. After having one Pooch suffer from pancreatitis it’s so hard to find a vegetable dog food they enjoy and that’s reasonable . We tried halo till they jumped their prices to the moon and then even that food they after a year sniff and walk away . Alas

My dog has neurological problems and can’t process proteins. I liked this as had vitamins and minerals added. Unfortunately, my prissy pet won’t eat it.

This is Awesome!!
By Paws on Dec 7, 2018
This food is awesome and my dogs love it. My mom"s Cairn had itch issues and was put on a vegetable diet by the vet but would not eat the prescribed food. After trying this food mixed in with her regular food all our issues were solved. Please keep this in stock. Love it!!
