is the bottom edge coated to prevent scratching the floor?

There is no special coating to prevent scratching, but customers typically don't experience issues with the gate scratching the floor. That said, the slide-on hinge design allows customers to slightly lift the panel while pivoting the door open, which would prevent any scratching.
Won't the dogs just push this open or knock it down? It doesn't seem to be useful.

In order to avoid your dog knocking over the zig zag freestanding gate, It is recommended putting on the same side of your threshold/opening as the pet. The door jamb/trim prevents the zig zag gate from pushing forward.

Ours broke after six weeks -- we're so disappointed

We were excited to find this clear gate but it broke after only six weeks. We picked it up by the handles and the end panel hinges snapped and the panel fell off. Sadly we don't see a way to fix it since the hinges are adhered clear strips that have snapped in half. We love the look of the gate and are sad to have to return it. Thank you Chewy, for making the return process easy.

The clear choice

This sturdy little partition is perfect to keep our 15 pound dog in the kitchen without obstructing the doorway. We easily move one section to pass through and nothing touches our walls. The look is modern.

Kitten Blocker

I Foster kitties and this works really well when I need to block them out of the room. Pretty pricey but worth it.
