Feeding Instructions

Higgins InTune is formulated as a complete and balanced food to be fed free-choice to your pet birds. Birds can consume as much as 20% of their body weight per day so make sure plenty of Higgins InTune is provided and is fresh every day. Provide plenty of clean water daily. No supplements are necessary and are not recommended. If fruits, nuts or other foods are provided, make sure Higgins InTune is at least 90% of the overall diet by weight. This will help ensure your pet bird will get the vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients necessary for good health.

Transition Instructions

While introducing a new food to your pet friend, gradually mix new food with your pet’s old diet. Increase the amount of food over a period of 7 to 10 days. This will allow your pet to adjust to the new food and it will prevent any upset to your pet’s digestive system.

    So far, so good

By Peaches on Jun 3, 2021

My diva, Peaches is such a picky eater and seems to get bored with pellets on a regular basis. I’ve been searching for one she seems to enjoy for a long time. I’m glad one of the rescues mentioned the Higgins an so far, peaches is eating it!

    My parrots love this stuff!

By Mason on Mar 18, 2021

Switched over from another kibble brand, because InTune doesn't have artificial stuff in it, including coloring. The other brand was brightly colored, and I worried my birds wouldn't readily make the switch, particularly since one of my Cockatoos is a sorter...he'd only eat the RED kibbles. All adopted the new kibble immediately, and no more sorting. Even tried both kibbles ourselves. Guess which one tasted pretty good, versus cardboard, even for humans?

    My Greys like it........

By Shalibird on Jan 16, 2021

I switched from Pretty Bird Natural to this brand only because it was getting harder and hard to find 20-25 lb bags of PB and when I did the pellets smelled old. So, my long search lead me to Chewy a couple of years ago and I ordered this. Although it's more expensive it is a good pellet (better than most) and my birds switched easily. However, lately they have started to leave the green ones all to the end. They will eat them but not until all the others are gone. Odd they just started that a few months ago. LOL Anyway, try this-I think you will be happy with it.

    picky parrot LOVES IT!

By Ellie on Dec 21, 2020

My parrot was a rescue of sorts that was only fed seed. I tried so many different things to wean him off of it, but almost nothing worked. Til I heard about these. Free from artificial dyes and apparently super yummy! He loves them (but he sometimes won’t eat the green ones..like I said, he’s picky). These are definitely gonna be my go-to food for him from now on!

    Tasty pellets

By TheresaP on Nov 7, 2019

Just transitioning my Grey to pellets, and it seems as if she’s liking these pellets a lot. She goes to them as soon as I put her dish by her. Plus even the smell smells very natural and not artificial. So far I’m giving it 5 stars!

    Not good, junky

    By MAK0003 on May 26, 2019

It’s dyed food. The first ingredient is corn, which is junk, and the next 5 are all fillers. Canola oil almost always has GMOs in it... I’m not knockin’ Higgins, I actually feed my Lilac Crowned Amazon their celestial hook bill formula. It does have oats in the first few ingredients (but they’re one grain I don’t hate. They’re good for soothing stomachs; they also contain fiber, protein, antioxidants, and help regulate blood sugar which makes each bite count. Amazons are prone to obesity, but my guy is a great weight.) Wheat is the only ingredient I would take out... Since using the celestial line my boy (Aztec) hasn’t had a rough molt, he’s molted smoothly and evenly. (I do also use exotrition It’s dyed food. I have a degree in canine nutrition- so, I read every ingredient before my dog gets anything, but for some reason I went years without reading the ingredients on all my other pets’ foods. … more

    Quality Pellet

By Ryan on May 17, 2019

Our macaw and amazon have been on this for a few months. I had heard good things and our green wing is going through her first big molt, so food and nutrition make an even bigger difference. I've been very impressed. Her new feathers are perfect and both birds have good activity levels eating this. The color and consistency of their droppings has changed some (redder/thinner) but that has been manageable. Both have also decided the green pieces are not to be eaten but they pick favorites with every pellet. Overall, it's a really good option and I love the larger bag for larger birds or flocks.

    Bird refused to eat

    By Michelle on May 8, 2019 top1000Contributor

I really wanted my bird to like these pellets because I've read so much good about them. When I opened the package, they had a really nice smell, not at all overpowering or fake like some others. I tried everything to convince the bird to eat them - moistening them with warm water, blending them with fruit/veggies, etc., but nothing worked. She absolutely refused to have anything to do with them. So, I'm sure they're a great pellet, but not for my bird.

    InTune my birds Ice cream

By Ncmountaingirl on May 27, 2019

I have an African Grey and an Ekkie both love this product. Since they don’t use artificial colors I decided to try it. Another added bonus is the price point to great for the quality of the pellet
