Thanks to Chewy, I have finally found a dry food that suits my two cats. Both of them are pushing 13 years old so I started at the plus 7 category and finally ended up with the Science Diet Adult 11+. I am pleased to announce that, so far, they both love it, and I love it since the "sounds of "hurling" no longer can be heard at all hours of the day and night. Without the huge variety of dry food options available through Chewy, this great change in dietary paradise would not have been possible. Love you Chewy and Science Diet.
We originally got this for our senior cats since other foods have bigger/harder pebbles. Our senior cats love it. Pebbles are soft and small, perfect for them to eat without needing to chew much. Our younger cats stopped ignoring their food to eat this one, we tried getting the same flavor just for their age and they didn't like the pebbles at all, so our different age fur bebes eat this perfect senior food. It's perfect all around and I don't see us changing foods anytime soon.
I have 2 senior cats around the age of 12-14. They were "rescues" so age is a guess. One is toothless. I have tried a plethora of cat foods over the decades & found many that the cats liked. Some they disliked. Some was good but so expensive I just couldn't continue. Recently I purchased an indoor hairball & weight control high grade food with great reviews about great nutrition, etc but 1 of my cats started losing a lot of weight. I was feeding this for several months but he just lost too much weight. He needed to lose some but he got so skinny I took him to the vet worried he was in end stage kidney failure. His coat got dull & rough looking too. He just seemed in poor condition. That brand is one that is highly touted & cost more than the Science Diet. The vet checked both cats & they were fine. All blood work came back good. I asked advice about a good quality cat food that wouldn't break the bank. He recommended a senior formula & mentioned a few brand names including Science Diet. Over the years, nearly every vet I have used loves Science Diet pet food. When my pets needed special prescription food it was usually Science Diet. One vet I used for a while loved Royal Canin. I fed my cats that for a while (a Rx formula that crept up to $80/bag so I had to stop that). So I tried this Science Diet Adult 11+ food & my cats love it. The little kibbles in it are small enough that my toothless cat can eat it just fine. She has really never had problems with eating dry food. One review I read about this particular Science Diet formula was some cats didn't like it but mine LOVE it. My skinny boy cat started putting on some weight again (he needed to) and his coat is once again shiny & luxurious. I feel like they are getting good nutrition & I'm getting a good value for my money.
My 10yr. old orange kitty had trouble chewing the other Hills Science Diet he was on. Got this food but I believe the 2nd ingredient, Whole Wheat is causing awful gas. He loves the kibble & it is very small, but we cannot live with this gas. It is stronger than a 200lb. man! His other food had corn meal as the 2nd. ingredient. Will have to change the food.
I was delighted when my 16-year old kitty came to the bowl and ate this food with gusto. And even happier when I saw that it agreed with his digestion. No vomiting. Perfect stools. This is the first food that has made him (and me) happy. It is our #1 choice going forward.
This is a healthy food that my cats love. If they won't eat their wet food, they will eat this. It is a treat to them.
Love this food for my cat . She has had a lot of medical problems when we first got her and now 5 years later she is doing good on this food !!!
The kernels are far too big and my older cats have a difficult time breaking them down and chewing. I love the brand but you would think 11+ would have smaller morsels
I've been on the hunt for a Senior dry cat food replacement since the one I approved of (and the one the cats actually liked) was discontinued during the pandemic. This isn't it. My girls typically like the Science Diet dry foods. So, I don't know what is wrong with this one. It has just been sitting in the bowl, going to waste. I won't buy again. I wish I could find an acceptable Senior cat food. The search continues.
Nice progress from previous year with a half a pound each kitty. Rotate their diet to keep it interesting
