Questions & Answers

Is there an ingredient in this hairball food that helps with cat's regularity.
Answer by ChewySep 21, 2022
This food contains natural fiber to comfortably reduce hairballs in cats.

What is the percentage of fiber?
Answer by ChewyDec 30, 2018
This food has a maximum Fiber content of about 10% on an as fed basis.

what is the difference in feeding Hills Hairball control adult to that of the Senior or Adult 6 Plus?
Answer by ChewyAug 09, 2018
There are a few differences in the protein, fat, fiber, and added nutrient profile. The Adult 7+ Hairball control diet has a 0.5% less protein, 1.5% more fat, and 0.5% more fiber. It also includes a bit more vitamin E and displays sodium and phosphorus levels because those generally need to be monitored for senior cats.

what would be the recommended daily serving size for dry and wet food for a cat 11-14 pounds?
Answer by ChewyOct 08, 2020
The amount of food your pet requires will vary depending on their age, breed and activity level, but a pet's weight is one of the most accurate ways to judge how much to feed them. When combining wet and dry foods, it is best to take into account the pets daily caloric needs and ration the wet and dry foods accordingly to provide them with appropriate nutrition and calories. If uncertain, we recommend consulting with your veterinarian.

0 out of 7 cats prefer this food

I accidentally bought this because the image on the bag is pretty much identical to our usual food. When it arrived I opened it, realized my mistake, but mixed it with the usual food anyway. When I came back, this food was all over the floor because they fished it out of the bowl to get to the regular food. They will not eat it. We have a family of raccoons that lives in our neighborhood. I left some of this food for them in hopes they wouldn’t eat the food we feed to our outdoor kitties. The raccoons checked out this food (we have a cat cam) and passed it by and went directly to the regular food. I messed up and wasted my money.

Sick kitties

We typically use Royal Canin Hydrolized Protein- requires vet prescription and is expensive so I bought this to mix in and make things last longer. All 3 cats started throwing up daily. Pulled the food and went back to normal food and the throwing up stopped instantly. Bad bag of food or my babies just don't digest it right????

Good Option for Hairball Issues

As our female cat has gotten older, she has started having trouble with hairballs. It seems that her stomach is much more sensitive and she is throwing up hairballs several times a week. The Science Diet hairball formula for mature cats has really helped. She is throwing up much less frequently and often there is just some hair, not a full hairball. It did not completely solve the problem, but it made it manageable and our cat feels much better.

Stella & Gracie love it!

It’s the only dry cat food my 9 year old cats will eat. Just wish it wasn’t so expensive!

Loved the food, but increased vomiting

I got this food in an attempt to switch from Natural Balance LID Salmon & Chickpea, as it has been discontinued. We have been following the recommended transitioning schedule. My cat LOVED it, but we have seen near daily vomiting, when we used to have none.

Cat likes it

My cat has been eating this for about a year now and seems to like it. She's pretty much always been served Science Diet and hasn't not liked any of it. I'd recommend it.

Chunky kibble

I was excited to finally try this hairball formula, but unfortunately, it was not my favorite variety of science diet. My cats still ate it ok, but the kibble seemed to be a larger size than the regular adult cat formula. There were also several large chunks of food (roughly the size of a grape) that I had to sort out. I use an automatic feeder, so these pieces clogged up the feeder a few times. Overall the food was ok, but I think I will get another variety in the future.
