The ingredients list “chicken liver flavor.” Is that derived from chicken? My dog has a chicken allergy and we need a food that has no chicken products.

Are any of the ingredients sourced from China?
Answer by ChewyNov 10, 2021
Hill's sources raw materials only from countries where there are reliable safety procedures in place, primarily in the United States, Japan, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and several European countries. Only two of their ingredients come from China; Taurine and L-Carnitine. China is the number one supplier for many of the specialized vitamins and amino acids for all manufacturers. In fact, China supplies over 90% of the world's Taurine. The reputable facilities that we work with are strictly audited and certified prior to our even considering buying the ingredient from them. They ensure the safety of the Taurine and L-Carnitine received. Frequent inspections of suppliers, analytical testing of incoming ingredients, and testing of their finished products all confirm their commitment to quality. Also, Hill's® demands compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and Hill's high quality standards, so your pet's food is produced under clean and sanitary conditions. The pet food industry is highly regulated in the U.S. by the USDA, FDA and state departments of agriculture. Additionally, Hill's® is a member of the Pet Food Institute, a trade industry organization that works to maintain high quality standards in pet food manufacturing.

Exactly what I needed for my 14 year old dachshund

I see other people complaining about the thick consistency of this food. For me, that's exactly what I was looking for. If you get a thin, saucy food you're just paying more for water and that's silly. I needed something thick because the entire intention here was to spoon this product into Kong toys to freeze. The frozen Kong trick keeps your dog busy for a long time if you are looking to engage or occupy them! So that's what I've been using this food for. I also think it would be good for hiding pills in; it's got a consistency about like meatloaf. The smell of this product is not strong either which I appreciate, not having to handle stinky dog food. As a veterinary professional I've had the opportunity to work with many types of pet food and I still can't find anything that outperforms Hill's Science Diet. It's simply the best and it's the brand I would recommend if you were asking me for an opinion on what to feed your dog or cat.

Ken-L-Ration Ewww

Flashbacks with this & not in a good way! Reminded me of the bad old days of feeding my childhood dog ground up mystery meat courtesy of Ken-L-Ration. We've been very happy with Hill's other wet foods, which resemble stew more than solid cans of ground whatever. Won't be buying this again. There's better Hill's wet food out there, find that instead.

Picky Pitbull LOVES this...

I had Lola on Natural Balance wet and dry food ever since we got her 5+ yrs ago, but 1. she's 8 now I wanted to switch her to something designed for a senior dog and 2. my vet had told me that grain-free is not the way to go due to complications it can cause with dog's hearts, so after EXTENSIVE research I decided to give this a go. I was apprehensive b/c she had stopped wanting to eat her Natural Balance wet/dry mix unless it had chicken added to it which was costing me a small fortune. I tried a case of this and mixed it in with her Natural Balance dry food and she licked the bowl clean, not just once but every time! Very happy with this purchase and it's one I can feel good about b/c I know it's excellent quality and my baby girl is getting the nutrients she needs. Highly recommend!

Solid like a Rock

This food is extremely hard to chop up into bite size pieces for my senior dog. It comes out of can in one solid rock like clump. Not buying this one again.

Andy likes it after I “fix” it

As other reviewer‘s have mentioned this food is very dense as it comes right out of the can. I usually add some bouillon to it to loosen it up some and when I do that my 14-year-old dog really seems to enjoy it

Not easy open

My dog likes the food, but I was very disappointed when I noticed that the cans were not easy open. Why would some Science Diet cans have them, and some not? Makes no sense other than they’re trying to save money.

Life saver

We were having a hard time getting our 11 year old Pit Bull to eat all of a sudden. I wasn't sure if this was him nearing his end or what to think as he never in his life had turned down food in the slightest or had any digestive issues. I would sprinkle some cheese to entice him and he would clean the cheese and some nibbles of food and done. I had to do something. I quickly hopped on Chewy.com looking for a wet food to add to his meals to help him. Luckily I found this food and on the first try he had completely cleaned his bowl for the first time in weeks. I only use it as an additive which lasts about 2 days feeding him twice a day. He is now excited to eat and finishes his food before our other 2 boys which he was always the slower one. He seems to have put on a pound or two as well. I honestly couldnt be more grateful for finding this and all the reviews that helped with my decision. I hope this one helps someone as well!

My little one will eat it but really not excited about this Hill's Entree. I will not order this one again.

healthy option for mature dogs

Maybe not at appealing to the dogs as the meals with gravy, but seems to be packed full of nutritious elements
