Questions & Answers

If I’m having my dog try a different flavor of dog food (not chicken) to see if it’s an allergy issue he has, would this be okay? It does say there’s chicken fat in the ingredients.

Answer by ChewySep 19, 2019
This recipe does contain chicken fat. Chicken fat doesn't contain the same protein in chicken meat that triggers allergies in dogs who are allergic to chicken, so it would still be safe to feed a dog with chicken allergies. When changing diets, it's important to do a gradual transition to avoid digestive upset. To transition, mix your pet’s current food with the new food. Over 7 days, gradually decrease the amount of the current pet food while increasing the amount of new pet food.

What size are these kibbles?

Answer by ChewyMay 15, 2018
The kibbles are approximately the size of a chickpea.

Does this food contain any ingredients sourced from China?

Answer by ChewyJul 24, 2019
Hill's sources their raw materials from countries where there are reliable safety procedures in place, primarily in the United States, Japan, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and several European countries.

Why doesn’t Science diet list Calcium and Phosphorus on their packaging?

Answer by ChewyMar 19, 2020
This variety contains approximately 0.98% Calcium content on an as fed basis (1.09% on a dry matter basis) and 0.72% Phosphorus content on an as fed basis (0.80% on a dry matter basis). At this time, only protein, fat, fiber and moisture content are required to be on pet food labels.

For whatever reason this kibble does nothing for my dog. I have even tried mixing it with different type of food, canned food rice, cheese, I cannot give an honest answer of why this food does not do anything for my dog. Like I say it doesn’t taste that bad to me and maybe that’s the reason. Almost all of the kibble that I purchased for my dog is freeze dried. I tried this because of the high rating that It got from other purchasers. Just not the right food for my dog. We’ll donate to the. Creekside rescue.. which is all about animals being forced out of their habitat. It’s not construction it’s destruction.

I’ve got a wheaten terrier who is not a picky eater but seems to be allergic to chicken. We’ve tried 4 brands of food and the other 3 she would randomly throw up from. She also would eat the other brands but never was excited about eating it, which matters to me, if it’s her main diet I want her to actually like it. She loves this food and it doesn’t make her sick - win win!

I notice within the last year that the nibble size was different but just figured they changed the recipe. This month I misjudged how much food we had and my chewy box wasn’t going to be here on time so I had a bag delivered from Pets Supplies Plus and immediately noticed the size difference. My pickier dog also has eaten every meal since when usually she has to be coaxed to eat. I don’t know why Chewy’s is different from other vendors because I can’t order this food anymore from them

my dogs like the food but I don't like the delivery folks as my order is clearly marked to leave it on my front porch but they insist on leaving it outside of my garage whatever the weather is. Please bold print the "leave on front porch" next time - perhaps the delivery person will see it. Very annoying. Thank you.

My dog has been on this food for over 7 years and has done well . Last month he started to have major GI distress. the vet switched him to a different food and probiotics for 3 days and the GI issues started to resolve. In the mantime a new bag of Hills Lamb and Rice arrived and this time the bag contained the kibbles for small dogs and was extremely dusty. Within 24 hours of his returning to the Hills from the NEW bag BOTH of my dogs have developed diarrhea and the one who has already racked up hundreds in vet bills has Bloody mucous and wet stool diarrhea AGAIN. Realized after reading reviews on Chewy that my dog is NOT the only dog to experience GI distress in the last month while eating this food. I am stopping the food immediately. If you are feeding your dog Hills LAmb and brown rice, watch them and stop immediately if you notice any changes in their GI regularity.

They changed the formula and my dog had the squirts within a couple hours of eating it. He was on the old formula for years and did well on it. Hills is recommending a slow transition, which I would have tried had I known it was changing, thanks to Chewy for the great customer service as always in getting me a refund. We may be going back to purina pro plan

My dogs have been eating this for over a year with no issues, but the last 2 deliveries have been smaller bites and it even smells different. One of my dogs is now having booty gland (it won’t let me post this review with the actual name of gland ) inflammation and irritation. Did the recipe itself change? My vet bills are stating to stack up and the only thing that’s changed, is the food

Something changed

My dog has been eating this food for years until the last bag delivered changed. The kibble is smaller and a lighter color. He won’t eat it. Not cool science diet

My dog has been eating this food for years until the last bag delivered changed. The kibble is smaller and a lighter color. He won’t eat it. Not cool science diet for whatever changes were made to the recipe and kibble size. We’ll be switching and no longer are a happy customer.
