Where it All Began

Himalayan Pet Supply is the original creator of the Himalayan Dog Chew. Their team supports a network of over 10,000 Himalayan farmers who handcraft these ancient hard cheese chews for dogs around the world. Tradition + Innovation

Combining ancient traditions with modern innovation, Himalayan Pet Supply chews start in the Himalayan mountains at over 15,000 feet, near Mount Everest. They are crafted with a winning combination of yak and cow milk and are 100% free from preservatives and binding agents. And since they are made for dogs, they are completely free from lactose, gluten, grain, soy, corn and wheat!

Serving Pets and the Community

Himalayan Pet Supply took part in passing the first laws in Nepal, allowing farmers to insure their livestock as capital. Doing Good One Chew at a Time

In 2003, after discovering Kaos the dog loved Chhurpi, a traditional cheese chew made from the people of the Himalayas, two brothers and their friend had an idea to create a dog-friendly version. After 4 years of tweaking the ancient recipe, removing the lactose and fat content, they ended up with a tasty and savory, long-lasting chew, now known as a Himalayan Dog Chew. How long do these last? Are they a one time treat?

Most chews can last up to 5 years when stored appropriately. All chews should be kept in an airtight package avoiding extreme heat or cold weather. When chews are exposed to too much moisture they can mold. On the opposite end, when stored in too cold of temperatures, the chews can lose moisture and become brittle.

These are an awesome treat, does not last as long as a nail bone, obviously, but definitely holds his attention more. We took him for a walk in a backpack pouch,

These are an awesome treat, does not last as long as a nail bone, obviously, but definitely holds his attention more. We took him for a walk in a backpack pouch, and this made him happy to be in it. There is no odor, unlike bully sticks, and this doesn’t leave plastic bits (or swallowed) like the nylabone. Highly recommended for hardy chewers.

I wanted to wean my two little Yorkies off bully sticks and hopefully get them “hooked” on a less smelly, longer-lasting chew. Traditional yak chews seemed like a perfect alternative, but I tried several brands, shapes, and sizes, and the response was always ho-hum. But then we tried these. Apparently those little flecks of added flavor make all the difference in the world, because my dogs would blissfully chew on these forever if we didn’t take them away. And as long as they’re enjoyed in moderation, we’ve had no digestive upset with our highly-sensitive little girl. We’ve tried the chicken, bacon, and peanut butter flavors, and the verdict is always good.

Nope, just not interested

I have little poms that love to chew. I thought these would be a good treat for them, longer lasting than most. Each chewed on it for a few minutes and walked away

I have little poms that love to chew. I thought these would be a good treat for them, longer lasting than most. Each chewed on it for a few minutes and walked away. I have tried taking them and putting them away and re-giving them to them as new chews but they are not having it. They are just not interested in these. Too bad. At least these chews and the collagen chews will be enjoyed by our local shelter pups.
