Where it All Began

Himalayan Pet Supply is the original creator of the Himalayan Dog Chew. In 2003, after discovering Kaos the dog loved Chhurpi, a traditional cheese chew made from the people of the Himalayas, two brothers and their friend had an idea to create a dog-friendly version. After 4 years of tweaking the ancient recipe, removing the lactose and fat content, they ended up with a tasty and savory, long-lasting chew, now known as a Himalayan Dog Chew. The sizes don't tell you what dog weight is appropriate for a large chew, the package looks like it says 5 pounds and under. Can't be right... It would be helpful to make this information more apparent to the buyer. What are the size/ dog weight recommendations?

The Small is recommended for dogs 15 pounds and under, the Medium is recommended for dogs 35 pounds and under, the Large is recommended for dogs 55 pounds and under and the X-Large is recommended for dogs 55 pounds and over.
Are these made in the USA?

These treats are currently made in Eastern Nepal and the mountains of West Bengal in India.
How do you store this in-between eating ?

Himalayan Pet Supply flavored chews (bacon, peanut butter, and chicken) are not smoked at all and have a light cheesy smell and the Himalayan Pet Supply original Himalayan Dog Chews do have a smoky smell.

Breaks easily and not as long-lasting as I'd hoped

I have a 9 month pyr mix who is a super chewer and goes through treats in seconds, so I tried the Yaky brand cheese chews and thwy actually lasted a couple of days! She loves peanut butter so I thought I would try these by the "original" brand. She polished it off in less than a day, which I realized was because rather than having to chew off ends of the treat, it would easily break off into pieces/shards which she could easily swallow. Hopefully I just got a dud, but I went back to the regular cheese Yaky treats and haven't regretted it.

Breaks apart!

Never again will I buy these. Breaks apart. A sliver of these went into my dogs gum causing an abscess tooth which required him to have the tooth extracted. Never again will I buy these again!

NOT A FAV.

I bought this thinking my dog would like it because she normally likes the cheese version. She was not a fan of it.. wouldn't even go near it. Ended up throwing it away.

MOST AMAZING DOG CHEW EVER

I can not talk highly enough about this product. My dog Knox (35-ish pound Mini Bernadoodle/Cockapoo Mix) loves the peanut butter Himalayan Dog Chews. If I have a zoom call or just need some time to myself I open one of these and he is entertained for hours! I give him the medium size and then at the end I put it in the microwave and turn it into a puff (instructions on the back of the packaging) and my dog just plays with it and chops away like he is eating a big puff Cheeto! I think I keep 5-6 of these on hand at all times and the product is so good for your dog's digestion. I have even noticed a difference in his poops (TMI but true)! If you are looking for a long-lasting treat that is super good for your dog and doesn't have a lot of additives, this is the brand!

  • About half way through a normal chew and then the 'almost gone' chew puffed up!

Finally a chew that lasts!

My puppy loves these. It's not as hard as a bone and doesn't seem to give her diaherrea like bully sticks. It's a great tool for when I'm in my WFH meetings. My only complaint is that she loves them so much, she doesn't break away from it when she has to pee - It's the first accident we've had in a month! So we make sure to take breaks. She is not an aggressive chewer, but eats through the MEDIUM chews of this brand in 10 minutes. This one has lasted through two decently timed chew sessions and she still has 3/4 of the chew to go.

The BEST chew ever!

This is the only chew my aggressive chewer can't tackle quickly. He loves it and takes it to his bed and chews on it for hours. I highly recommend it.

Not for my ALD

I gave her this thinking she would like it since she likes the Yak chews. She hates it. She chewed for less than a minute and hasn’t touched it since.

Great chew bone

Love these. My dogs love these and it takes them forever to chew them down (I have small dogs) I do however take them away once they get down to the size they could swallow them. I absolutely love these. Would recommend.
