My Doberman licks his bowl clean with this food. I had previously tried him on different brands of food, and some either gave him bad gas, diarrhea, or he just didn’t want to eat it even though I would taper him off old food slowly. It isn’t normal for him to not want to eat because he has a very good appetite. My chihuahua and Pomeranian were on the small breed formula of Honest Kitchen, and my Doberman kept wanting to eat their food instead of finishing his. That is what led me to purchase the non-small breed version just for him. He absolutely loves it. So far no gas or stomach issues. Well formed stools. Hasn’t been sticking his nose in my other dogs’ bowls. I mix raw food with this food for him now to make sure he gets all the nutrients he needs.
I have two dogs, one GSD who is 12 and has been a super picky eater his whole life. My other dog is a lab and will eat pretty much anything. I have been switching kibble food all of my GSD’s life, trying to find something he’ll eat. I have always been about finding a food that has the best ingredients for our pups, so I was definitely intrigued by this one! I love that it’s in a convenient kibble form. I was a little let down though that he didn’t gobble this one up either. However, he does seem more interested in this one more so than any other kibble, but still doesn’t seem to be that excited about it like I had hoped. But I think it’s the best we can do. I’ll still continue to buy, although it’s kind of out of budget for having two large dogs, but I’ll make do.
My dog Dash is one of the pickiest eaters I’ve ever seen. We’ve changed foods for this pup almost every year of his 5 years of life. How long will he be on this one? Who knows, but he refused three other foods and is finally eaten after 3 weeks of being picky and barely eating. And he’s eating both meals consistently, which is new. Yes, this kibble is very crumbly (think shortbread cookie/biscuit), but my pupper loves that. He has some sensitive teeth, so he likes that it’s crunchy but still easy to chew. We also tried the dehydrated version, he likes it but prefers a kibble over wet food. He also has zero problem licking up the crumbs. This probably isn’t the healthiest food? I wish there was more protein, less fat, and a touch more fiber. But at least he’s eating consistently and getting some kind of nutrients.
Not sure if the new bag sent to me was bad. Not only the food inside the bag was pulvorized most of the food inside was powder form and not much of the kibble texture in it. My dogs have been on this food for about 3 months now and have been adapting to this food BUT with the new bag that was sent BOTH dogs is now having diarrhea that I had to take them to the Vet to have them looked at and it cost a lot of money for Vet check up, blood work and medicine. This is not only a very expensive bag but it also cost me more in the end as I have to take them to the Vet.
I have 2 picky mini schnauzers and they love this food! I also love that it’s human grade, made with quality ingredients so I feel good about feeding it to them. Also a plus, it doesn’t smell nearly as bad as most dry dog foods I’ve gotten in the past. Will definitely continue to buy this!
These food clusters are cold pressed which is a huge health advantage over these dark roasted and pressed kibbles. There are many complaints about this cold pressed food breaking up to dust easily, but that's what you get with good, cold-pressed dry dog food and you do NOT need to throw any broken up food away! Instead, you use it as a base with some water and you will get a nice meal base.
Was very hopeful the product would be a culinary match. However, crumbled too easily. Dog was never able to go 100%. But he did "go" a lot. It looked more like horse manure than dog poop. Too much grain. Wish it had worked.
The first dog food I’ve found that has human grade ingredients only. No “meals” or byproducts etc. & just “oats” not like oat husks or whatever. Actual whole, quality food. My dog has never ever been so excited to eat kibble. I’ve never seen him dive into it before. Usually he is a free range type eater, meaning I just leave his bowls full and he grazes whenever he feels like it, usually he’ll slowly eat 1 bowl every 1.5 days or something. He’s always been that way & I’ve tried lots of different good brands of food & also treat toppers on top of it. You can see on the left of this photo is his old food (blue buffalo) & it’s been left untouched for 2 days even with his tasty beef liver sprinkles on top of it. The honest kitchen is on the right & plain & he just dove right in, he can’t get enough. I think I’ll have to put him on a feeding schedule since he wants to devour it instead of grazing like normal lol. I couldn’t be happier. Thank you Honest Kitchen for making such a quality food for dogs, they deserve it 100%
The first part of the bag always comes out good but a great deal of the food towards the bottom is powdered. My dog loves this food and it’s good for her, but this is very aggravating. It needs to be fixed.
