Does this cause more build up on the dog’s teeth since it is not crunchy?

Contrary to popular belief, kibble doesn't actually clean the teeth. For the most part, dogs (and some cats) actually swallow their kibble whole and don't chew their food at all. You'll know this if you've ever had the misfortune of seeing your pet regurgitate his kibble when those pellets come back up the same way they went in! This means the pellets don't have a chance to come into much contact with the teeth, and even if they were to be crunched, they aren't really hard enough to have an abrasive action that's effective enough to scrape tartar from the teeth. If kibble is chewed (which may happen in some smaller dogs and cats) the sugars and refined carbohydrates are actually more likely to get impacted into the gum line, which is detrimental for the long term health of the teeth and mouth.

After rehydrating the diet, how long is it good for? Should it be refrigerated after rehydrating?

Once the dehydrated food has been rehydrated with warm water, you may cover and refrigerate any uneaten portions for 2-3 days. Frozen leftovers will keep for even longer. We suggest adding a little bit of warm water to the mix and stirring before serving.

For proper preparation, this food should be mixed with water. Prepared foods may be refrigerated for 2-3 days.

Our dogs have loved this food from the first feed. Ordering from Chewy is easy and they ship on time, adjust subscription shipping as we figure out how much we will need monthly. The price is less than the local pet store’s price when you set up a subscription too. Prefer the grain free version

Tried out this version from honest, the ingredients seemed acceptable to me and it was a way to safe some money as it is less expensive than then grain free i usually

Tried out this version from honest, the ingredients seemed acceptable to me and it was a way to safe some money as it is less expensive than then grain free i usually buy. Strangely my pugs have trouble with it ..and vomited it the 1st time they tried it. Have been putting a few tablespoons in their grain free to try to get them used to it .. think i will stick with the grain free chicken or turkey...works best for us.

I switched all of my dogs to THK dehydrated food after having abnormal labs (high liver values) while eating another popular refrigerated fresh food. After starting them on THK they imediately showed improvement and their fur is soft and shiny. They are all prone to diarrhea but surprisingly none of them had diarrhea with the switch even though I did it quickly. I have fed them the chicken and turkey both with and without grains and they like them all. Their stools are much better too although they do go more often. Hopefully their labs continue to improve and this is a food I can keep them on long term.

My dog was on farmer’s dog for about a year maybe two and besides it being super expensive I was looking for something else, she got bored with it. She has a very sensitive stomach and is very picky like previously said. Low and behold the stuff is magic! It took a while to figure out what consistency she likes and she likes it very watery and drinks it which is really gross to me, but seems to enjoy it and then I put Stella and Chewys lamb toppers in it just about three of them. I give her this in the morning as I sprinkle in probiotic, and then I gave her the same brand in the kibble for dinner she likes a little warm water in that as well. I love not being strapped down to the frozen foods anymore and so much more affordable. It’s made my life so much better in several ways.

Made my dog sick

First I will start off by saying Chewy is amazing. They are refunding us for this even though we bought it months ago. They are still a 10/10. Now onto this food

First I will start off by saying Chewy is amazing. They are refunding us for this even though we bought it months ago. They are still a 10/10. Now onto this food review. I fed this to my dog for 3 days and then she got sick & wouldn’t touch it again. This is my non-picky eater too. She will eat almost anything so when she stopped eating this we knew something was wrong. We have fed other high quality ingredient dehydrated foods to her before without issue but this is so finely ground it’s pasty & clumpy. Bottom line order from Chewy but just not this food.
