How much Kale is in the food? I'm reading a dog should only get 10% of Kale..too much can cause kidney stones.

The percentage of individual ingredients is proprietary to the manufacturer, however the ingredients are listed in order from greatest amount to least amount. We recommend consulting your veterinarian to ensure this would be a good fit for your pet's current nutrition plan, as dietary and other healthcare changes should be made under the guidance of your vet.

Great flavor idea but...

This seemed like a great combo, my dogs love beef and they love salmon. But not this! I never imagined my dogs turning their noses up at beef or salmon but they refused even a bite after a sniff 2 feet away. I tried giving each a taste from my hand but no interest at all. I fed nothing else for two days hoping to stimulate some interest. They won. My dogs go trail walking with me everyday so they are more active than most dogs but the short fast didn't work with this food. No matter how healthy, it's useless if it doesn't impress the dog's palate or even pass the sniff test.

Quality food

My ACD pup has an extremely sensitive digestive system & spent the first 7 months if his life with constant diarrhea & vomiting. The vet couldn’t find anything wrong with him so she recommended diet changes. I went through many different foods before I settled on Honest Kitchen. Although he can’t digest the carrots in the food (what dog can- they are worthless additions to food tbh), his stools are finally solid & his stomach acid has reduced so his vomiting is very infrequent. He is an extremely muscular & athletic pup & is training in agility & this food seems to fulfill his nutritional needs with ease. I do let it soak for longer than 3 minutes & i heat it in the microwave for 30 seconds to help turn it into a thick paste, otherwise he inhales it and can make himself cough. I definitely recommend this food and any of the grain inclusive foods for dogs with sensitive stomachs. Just be sure to stay away from foods with legumes!

Yummy Food

My dog has loved honest kitchen for a while now, but when he tried this beef & salmon recipe he was clearly very happy, ate everything and was going back to his bowl to lick for any potential spots he missed.

HK Gourmet Grains

I've been using honest kitchen on my dogs for nearly 5 years, transitioning from the grain free to whole grain but now to gourmet grain. Gourmet Grain has been the best for their allergies. We only swapped from grain-free to whole grain due to vet recommending it for our goldens. I'm surprised this product is rated at 75% recommendation. Two of the reviews don't seem warranted, tbh. One said their dog didn't like it... well, dogs have preferences, and if you reach out to Chewy about a dissatisfaction with a product, they'll normally refund you. So it's only a waste of money if you don't do that. The other said that the consistency is like oatmeal. If that means it is too mushy, then add less water. Otherwise, it's clearly indicated that this is going to be a mush type food. I'm a dog walker, and I've recommended this food to so many clients who have also been happy with it. Our dogs' coats are sleeker, their teeth are still white, and develop minimal tartar between cleanings. Their stools are solid, and they don't show signs of allergies(unless seasonal). We've had great success with this food, and I can confidently recommend it.

Healthy but dogs wouldn't eat it

Kinda like feeding your dog oat meal. I tried this after a good review from a friend. Unfortunately my dogs wouldn't eat it after the first meal. So that was a waste of money.

Too mushy for my dog

Unfortunately, my Maltipoo would not eat this. I didn't realize that after you added water, even a small amount, the consistency is still like Oatmeal. I would not recommend it unless maybe your dog is used to very soft food or elderly with no teeth.

Good food but you can't find it anywhere

My pup has been on this food since a pup, however after all this time I can no longer find gourmet grains anywhere. My entire family has had to change brands because none of us like feeding potatoes or legumes.
