How many cups of dog food is the 10lb box equivalent to?

Answer by ChewyJan 29, 2019
The 2 pound box makes 8 dry-measured cups, the 4 pound box makes 16 dry-measured cups, and the 10 pound box makes 40 dry-measured cups.

Why is there garlic in this food? I thought garlic is toxic for dogs?

Answer by ChewyMay 15, 2018
Garlic in small quantities is perfectly safe for your pet. It provides intestinal health support, helps regulate blood sugar levels, and improves circulation. The Honest Kitchen follows AAFCO guidelines and standards, and takes the safety of your pet very seriously.

Can I make batches ahead of time and freeze?

Answer by ChewyApr 30, 2024
Once the dehydrated food has been rehydrated with warm water, you may cover and refrigerate any uneaten portions for 2-3 days. Frozen leftovers will keep for even longer. We suggest adding a little bit of warm water to the mix and stirring before serving. If you want to freeze the food, you should hydrate it first (some of our customers like to freeze in individual pre-made portions). If you do choose to place the dry food in the freezer, we recommend keeping the box in the freezer for the remainder of its use.

one of the questions asked is if this has organs and the reply was no...but how can it be a complete and balanced meal without organs?

Answer by ChewyMay 17, 2018
The Honest Kitchen's food contain a human-grade vitamin mineral premix making it complete and balanced for dogs.

I heard HK changed the formula and with that changed the packaging to include the word Wholemade so I order the packets to see if my dog would still eat it. It came in the old packaging so I was unsure if the it was the new formula or the old. UGH ! She is a 5lb Chihuahua and is double incontinent so her food has to be limited for her not to have issues going potty. Well she won't touch the food now. Refuses to eat it. We do give her the dry kibble as a treat. She loves it. I will order some more dry kibble to see if she will still eat it instead of the dehydrated and hope it does not back her up. Why do pet food companies do this?

Great human-grade food, easy to prepare

I actually bought the grain-free dehydrated chicken and turkey in a smaller size, but the fact is that my terrier mix gobbles up both recipes. I use Honest Kitchen

I actually bought the grain-free dehydrated chicken and turkey in a smaller size, but the fact is that my terrier mix gobbles up both recipes. I use Honest Kitchen as a topper for a high-grade weight loss kibble and alternate between that and a fresh frozen (I.e., expensive) food. Our dog needed to lose weight; so far, this combo of quality, low carb dog foods is doing the job! Honest Kitchen is also very digestible. It even smells good!

I have been a loyal supporter of The Honest Kitchen dog food for many years. Just recently I received a 4lb box of their grain free chicken. Unfortunately they definitely altered the recipe. It smells different, stale and like wet cardboard. Unfortunately, my dog would not even lick the spoon after mixing the food and refused to eat it. This used to be her favorite flavor as well. I emailed the company and they never responded to my message. Thankfully the other flavors seem to be ok, but I had to make a change to my dog's diet due to this unfortunate circumstance and lack of communication. Something is just off with the grain free chicken...

Happy with this food

Merrick changed it's formula so I looked for a good replacement. I got the Honest Kitchen kibbles for variation but needed to wet and crush them because she ate

Merrick changed it's formula so I looked for a good replacement. I got the Honest Kitchen kibbles for variation but needed to wet and crush them because she ate too fast so this is perfect. She likes it and looks healthier. It's funny to see some of the veggies rehydrate. I recommend it

Excellent nutrition, easy to eat, and my dogs love it

I chose this food because it has human-grade ingredients and requires little to no chewing. One of my dogs has no teeth and the other has very few.

Quick and hard to find items

My rescue and I went through some stand offs about food. He is incredibly particular and it took the purchase of Honest Kitchen on a whim. Now his bowl is licked
