This is a stellar food, especially when compared to dry, hard, heavily processed dog food. HK is real food made in a human grade facility. I get that, but why oh why is it so freaking expensive? Thank God I have a small dog. She needs to be on the fish recipe due to her diabetes (lowest carb option), but I have had to go to the cheaper options which are carb heavy so I have to give her a bigger dose of insulin.
Y’all! I read all the reviews before purchasing and was a little skeptical. We’ve used all kinds of high end brands. Our little pup is beyond picky and would go days without eating because she didn’t like it or would pick through and get only what she liked. Our medium dog has skin issues caused by ingredients in most foods. This food is a HUGE win. The little is begging for meals and gobbles it down and licks her bowl clean! Satisfied. Our medium hasn’t had any irritations and stays better hydrated. She was always guzzling water. Now, it’s normal water consumption. For the bad reviews on the food..Come on y’all..it’s dehydrated food. You crush veggies it’s going to be green. You have to do a little math on the water. Low end addition of water gets you thicker food. Higher end of water addition it’s going to be more liquify like soup. We noticed if it sets overnight, it will absorb a whole lot more. It’s a sure fire winner for these two and they are HARD to please!
I have foster dogs along with my own dogs and each and every one gobble this food up. It is so easy to make. Not one dog that I have fostered has turned their nose up at anything Honest Kitchen. I love this brand. The food is so tasty, I can hide pills in it and no one has noticed! All pills down the hatch with no problem!
It has an oatmeal consistency with lots of nutritious ingredients. My senior dogs love it - I use chicken or beef broth and put salmon skin chips, chicken, or stew meat as a topper.
It's important to keep a dog hydrated all the time. My dog doesn't like to drink water as much as I'd like him to. This one contains a lot more moisture than dry kibble. I feed him this for breakfast. Then, he doesn't really love the taste and texture. So, I mix half of this with kibble to add some crunch texture. He eats better that way. If you give your dog wet food diet, this one would be good option since it doesn't create as much waste as canned wet food. Better option for earth!
We switched our dog from Ollie because of the price of fresh food. We did a ton of research and decided this was the best. Our dog suffers from allergies and gland problems. But this food helped clear those up. And he loves it.
Nothing but dry green powder and only after 2 Tablespoons on her regular food split in two days, horrible diarrhea several times. Going back this looks nothing like the ad with a brownish color. And it smells and looks like old grass. Very disappointed and sad to see our sweet dog sick from it.
