I would transition over a 1 to 2 week period. Any abrupt changes in a dogs diet can cause some GI upset.

Is talapia used in this recipe under “white fish”?

The Honest Kitchen Grain-Free Fish Recipe Dehydrated Dog Food is made with wild-caught, Marine Stewardship Council-certified white fish and antioxidant-rich produce — including Pacific cod and pollock caught off the coast of Alaska. Tilapia is not used.

Does this food have large chunks in it (like Sojos)? Or is it smaller/finer?

HK Grain Free Fish Recipe

I purchased this as a go-between/emergency backup for when my dog's regular food delivery is late/delayed for whatever reason (usually the carrier). My dog loves fish, sardines, catfish, etc; so I had anticipated this being a good option. My initial impression upon opening the product is that it seemed like just powder. I didn't see lumps of fish. But I made up a quarter of the amount she should receive as her daily portion and mixed it with an equal amount of her regular food. I didn't find it smelly at all (as other recipients have mentioned) and my dog dived straight in and ate it all. HOWEVER, I would say 3-4 hrs later and boy oh boy. She had really stinky diarrhea. I thought this would settle down and tried using an even smaller amount mixed with her regular food, but she was having none of it. She sniffed it and walked away. This continued for another 24hrs until she did try a little of the freshest batch. Again it gave her diarrhea. It wasn't as stinky, nor as much, but she has flat out refused to eat it. So not sure what to think of this. I have a 4lb box that is of no use to me now. Disappointed.

Clean Food

It's super clean. However it takes alot of my time to prep. My dog is sensitive and contacting the company everyday to find a happy medium for him is a challenge

It's super clean. However it takes alot of my time to prep. My dog is sensitive and contacting the company everyday to find a happy medium for him is a challenge. The company wanted me to buy there digestive supplement but I refuse because then I have to make a vet appt to get his approval where he wouldn't know because it's herbal stuff. My goal is to feed him a cup this food and make his food. I wish they had limitied ingredint in kibble. He's allergic to potatoes :(

I had high hopes for this product. I transitioned my dog over 7 daya from her sensitive stomach Science Diet formula to this. It went well the first few days but as I increased the amount, the more it upset her stomach. I had to stop using it unfortunately.

This food in combo with their kibble is the best I can give them on a limited budget. I tried to feed all fresh but the expense was too much . This food is minimally processed and a good compromise for us . My dogs love it !

The did like the beef flavor of this same food, so I may go back to that one. The food has a VERY strong fish smell- I found it not pleasant at all ( I actually have to plug my nose while I’m mixing it up). Not Chewy,s fault, but it wasn’t a big hit with my dogs.
