For us - and for Archie - the best dog toy EVER!

To begin with a disclaimer, this review is specifically for the six inch long bone shaped toy and based on direct, personal experience - ours, our Golden Retriever Archie and his two Sheltie brothers, Murphy and Jamie. It may not reflect your own experience with other dog breeds or temperaments or other toys in Hyper Pet's inventory, but is an honest representation of our own experience. Archie is in every respect an AKC registered Golden Retriever and is without a doubt as Golden Retrievery as any dog could possibly be. He is also a rescue, having been first acquired by our son and his family. When they got him as a pup and introduced him to us I took our son aside at one point and told him, "If you ever decide he's not the dog for you just give us a call and we'll take him off your hands." It took about two years, but the call finally came: "Dad, can I take you up on that offer?" I replied, "Sure!" and one lengthy car ride later Archie had a new home with us. Along with him came a big box full of dogs toys - rope toys, squeaky toys, plastic toys, Kong type toys, you name it. Most of these toys were discarded immediately. You see, Archie came with a history: he almost instantly destroyed any toy given to him and even had undergone a few thousand dollars worth of surgery to remove an alarming quantity of a plastic picket fence that he had chewed into submission but which retaliated by blocking his intestines! Gone immediately were every one of the rope toys, all of the fabric toys he simply used for appetizers and anything we even suspected would not be Golden-proof. All he had left was a handful of drab, indestrctable Kong type toys that were hard and heavy and did not seem to hold Archie's interest or ours. So our search began for something that could survive Archie and that Archie himself could survive. We've been able to add a few others over the years, but this toy was our first success and Archie's paws down, absolute favorite. He's had two of them for several years now, and when a visitor comes to the door Archie runs to his toy basket (as Goldens do) and thoughfully rummages through his collection to find a toy - which is invariably one of his two bones - to bring to the new friend to show off the extent of his wealth. He never actually gives it to anyone (again, in keeping with being a Golden), but will show it off with a big grin, tail wagging enthusiastically. After years of daily tossing and chewing, both of his bones had become, shall we say, worse for wear. They're still intact, but nearly unrecognizeable, cratered with fang marks and abraided from all original identifying features. We remembered that we had bought them locally, but have not seen any at the local stores for some time. So I got the bright idea to take a picture of one and do an internet search for a source. I quickly discovered that AI apparently prioritizes color and texture over shape and use and wound up returning endless "matches" consisting of images of chartreuse clumps of moss or lichens or other flotsam you would carefully avoid if you encountered them in nature and immediately destroy if you found them in your house. But we were determined, and finally located the Hyper Pet toy available on Chewy. We waited until it arrived before writing this review and, much to our delight, it was exactly the same thing Archie has loved for so long. Again, this is our experience and may not reflect your own, but this is why we - and Archie - love it so much: It has no significant protrusions so there is nothing to tear off of it. You may have a dog who is more prone to try to tear things off of toys so it may not work out as well for you. But Archie is more of a chewer, and while that means that it will become profusely cratered with fang marks over time, it will remain intact - in our case - for many years. It is at the same time very light compared to the Kong type toys so that it can be tossed around both indoors and outdoors with little fear of knocking over or breaking any knick-knacks you may have in your home or giving any other pets an accidental concussion. It is also easy to see, reducing the chances of tripping over it like the hard, brownish ring that is one of Archie's secondary choices and which we call the "invisible ring" which literally disappears in the patterns of the Oriental style rugs that cover our floors. Many, many thanks to Hyper Pet for continuing to make this absolutely wonderful toy - and our absolutely highest recommendation for you and your dog! we can only hope that your experience will be as satisfying as ours. P.S. Archie is a Golden, so he will allow his brothers to share his chartreuse bone, which they will be happy to do with the inevitable result of initiating zoomies as they chase each other until they're all exhausted!

It took my dogs less than 5 minutes to destroy it. I picked up all the pieces I saw and threw it out. I must have missed a small piece and my cat swallowed it and nearly died. Company is awful and even with a signed statement from the surgeon who saved my cat stating a piece of this toy was removed from my cat’s intestines, they wouldn’t help. It cost me nearly $9k to save my boy and the company didn’t care at all.
