These shapes are non-toxic so your pet is safe to chew on it, although it's not recommended for them to eat the hideout.

A full size guinea pig would not fit inside the holes.

Not good

Held together by glue. Glue chunks were on the back and sides. Not sage for gerbils. Had to scrape them off which wasn't easy.

Too small for the rats to go thru.

Just that it was too small. They will chew it up, but otherwise ignore it.

My mice love it!

My mice love to use it to play king of the mountain and to hide in. They will chew it but it lasts for a very long time so I only have to replace every 4 to 6 months

My mice love to use it to play king of the mountain and to hide in. They will chew it but it lasts for a very long time so I only have to replace every 4 to 6 months. I usually butt it up to the front of a converted 12 pack soda container that I turn into a hide. That way the hide stays a little darker and they can use the holes in the stairs to climb in and out of the hide. This is probably my 5th or 6th one.

First, big thanks to Christy’s review, as that is what decided me on this product. So I’m not a rodent person and haven’t done any deep dives into rodent care. Currently I’m gerbil sitting. Found this and figured that as gerbils are some of the smallest of pet rodents (so I thought?), the size small would be perfect. Maybe it is? The holes look too small and I had a panicked moment envisioning trying to unstick a gerbil from a cardboard trap. Now I had ferrets for 20+ yrs so I know that spaces that seem too small are often not - boy do I know it. Still, as these gerbils aren’t mine and I haven’t seen all the wild things they may be able to do as far as squeezing into or out of stuff, I cannot give this to them as is. So I ordered the next size up and since they seem to like chewing the corrugated cardboard, I’ll cut the small one (says ‘Tiny’ on tag btw!) up into cubes for them to hide and chew. Who knows, my kid might just have larger than normal gerbils. Regardless, I posted a picture w a quarter for scale next to the hole.
